contain data—only links to it.
Tableau Packaged Workbook (.twbx): Contains the workbook and any external data or
images, making it easy to share without separate data files.
Data Extract (.hyper/.tde): Compressed versions of datasets for faster performance.
Tableau Data Source (.tds/.tdsx): Defines the data source, including connection
details and customizations.
Tableau Bookmark (.tbm): Allows you to save individual sheets or visualizations for
reuse in other workbooks.
Tableau Online Workbook: A workbook saved directly to Tableau Online once
published.
2. Publishing to Tableau Online
Steps to publish:
Share Link: Copy the URL and share it directly with users who have access.
Embed Code: For web embedding, go to the workbook in Tableau Online, select
"Share," and use the "Embed Code" option.
Email Subscription: Set up an email subscription from Tableau Online to regularly
send a static snapshot to users.
Export as PDF/PowerPoint: Use the export options to create presentations or PDFs
for offline sharing.
