FYP Proposal: E -commerce Marketplace For Local Products

1. Introduction

The rise of e-commerce has revolutionized the way consumers shop and businesses operate.
However, many e-commerce platforms face persistent issues such as slow loading times, poor
navigation, and inadequate security measures. This project proposes the development of an e-
commerce website using modern technologies such as React or Angular for the front end,
Django for the back end, and MySQL or MongoDB for the database. This proposal outlines the
motivation, project summary, architecture, implementation challenges, deliverables, and
timeline.

2. Litrature Review

E-commerce has significantly grown, but it still faces challenges. Laudon and Traver (2020)
highlight the importance of secure online payment systems and mobile commerce. Despite these
advancements, issues like slow website performance and security problems persist.

Turban et al. (2018) note that many e-commerce platforms struggle with performance and
security, affecting user trust. Chaffey and Ellis-Chadwick (2019) emphasize the need for fast,
responsive websites and good user interface design for better customer engagement.

These studies indicate that while e-commerce has advanced, improvements in performance,
security, and user experience are still needed. Using the latest technologies and best practices can
help solve these issues.

2. Motivation

• History of the Problem: E-commerce has significantly transformed retail, yet it faces
enduring issues that hinder user experience and business efficiency.
• Interest in the Problem: Addressing these challenges can lead to better customer
satisfaction, increased sales, and stronger market positions.
• Occurrence of the Problem: Issues such as slow loading times, poor navigation, and
security vulnerabilities occur frequently in many e-commerce platforms.
• Current Solutions: Various e-commerce platforms attempt to address these issues with
varying degrees of success.
• Similar Systems: Amazon, eBay, Alibaba, and other e-commerce giants face similar
challenges but have made improvements with mixed results.
• Possible Improvements: Leveraging modern technologies and best practices can
significantly enhance performance, security, and user experience.
