MOST ESSENTIAL LEARNING COMPETENCY


Discuss the steps in page formatting (ICT7PL-Ie1-Ie3-5)

OBJECTIVES:
1. Modify the page orientation, margin and size;
2. Illustrate the adding of page break, sections break, and column break
3. Modify header and footer

WHAT’S IN
Microsoft word has an orientation: The landscape and the portrait. In modifying
the page, we will change the orientation, the paper size and the margin.

WHAT IS IT

Changing page orientation


Select layout tab>Orientation command>Select portrait or landscape

Changing the page size


Click layout tab>Size command>predefines page size
Use custom page size
Layout tab>Size> more paper sizes
Page set up
Adjust the width and height and click ok

Changing Margin
Click layout tab>Margin command>Predefined margin
Page Margin
It is a space between text and the edge of the document. Normal option is the default
contains 1inch space
Use custom margin
Click layout tab>Margin>custom Margin
Page set up
Adjust values for each margin then click ok
Navigating layout tab
The shortcut is to click small arrow at the bottom-right of the page setup group

Insert page breaks


1. Place insertion point where is the location of placing page break.
2. Click insert tab, then click page break command or simply press Ctrl + Enter for the
shortcut.
3. Then page break already inserted in the document and the text will move to the next
page.
By default, if the breaks are invisible click show/ hide command on the home tab to show
Insert section breaks
Section break- is a barrier between parts of the document that allows to format each section.

Types of the section breaks


1. Next page- moves text after the break to the next page.
2. Continuous- allows to continue working on the same page.
3. Even page and odd page- move the text after to the next even or odd page

Steps
1. Place insertion point where you like to put section break
2. Click page layout tab, click breaks command then click desired section break.
3. Section will appear in the document

Other types of breaks:


Column breaks- to balance the appearance of the columns
Text wrapping breaks- use to end the wrapping on the text and begin typing on the next
line below the image

Deleting break
By default, when the breaks are hidden, first show the breaks
if you want to delete place insertion point at the beginning of the break then click delete key
on your keyboard

Creating header and footer


Double- click anywhere on the top or bottom
The header or footer will appear, click the design tab on the right of the ribbon
and the insertion point will appear in the header or footer.
Type the desired information then close header or footer if you are done. You can
also type Esc Key on your keyboard.

Inserting header and footer


Select insert tab click header or footer command then Select desired header or
footer.

Content control fields – good for adding information like document title, the author’s name page
number and the date. And to edit just click this and type desired information. Then click close
header or footer button. If you want to remove right -click it, then select remove content control
from the menu.

Editing headers and footers


After closing header or footer, it is still visible in our document, but it will be locked. You
will have to do is to double-click a header or footer to unlock in order you can edit.
Design tab options
Hide the first- page header and footer- this allows to hide header and footer on the first
page if you want to put page cover. Just click the box.

Remove the header or footer


Click the header command and select remove header from the menu. You
can also remove the footer by clicking remove footer command.

Additional options
Click insert tab, add date and time, document information, pictures and
many more to add your document header and footer.
