Preliminary Activity with Analysis ( Lifted from Lucas, M. and Corpuz, B. (2013). Some parts were
modified.

This activity may provide you insights into the way you learn, how you approach academic tasks that may
have influenced the outcome of your academic efforts.

Answer truthfully the questionnaire. Put a check in the column that best describes what is true to you.

Part 1: Motivation

31 – 54: You seem to get easily distracted and may have the tendency to procrastinate. You may tend to
put off tasks for another day until you realize that there is not much time left. It is only then that you will
focus and work hard on a task.

30 below: You are generally not motivated and tends to “go with the flow” of the moment. In many
instances you feel you are just forcing yourself into doing the tasks. You easily settled with “bahala na”
and “pwede na yan” mentality.

- Yes. Actually I am the type of person or student that I give my best in academic tasks and not
easily get tired of being what I’m doing because I enjoyed and I loved being creative to those
things such as assignments, activities and other tasks.

2. Why is motivation important in academic success? Or in your success in this life?

- Motivation in life eases the trials that go through my life and when I’m in the middle of
nothingness, I only look forward about the motivation which is I can do all things through Christ
who gives me strength

- Ever since, I make a review schedule for the quizzes, tests and activities that our professors give to us so

- I believe that being alone is good but sometimes you just need some people be with you or
socializing. I can easily do those tasks smooth of socializing with my classmates, friends etc. That
I thought its impossible

- One thing I can be proud is that I can manage my time in any aspects of my life specially I’m teaching
students in our church and my academic tasks. But, sometimes we all agree that stress killing us when we
can’t manage our time.

- Note-taking is very essential in college journey because it’s a self review and gaining another
knowledge that the teacher’s give more trivia that I don’t know. I am very reliable in terms of jut
down notes and writing some important information.

2. When you do all those items in Parts 1,2, 3, and 5, and do the reverse of the items in Part 4, you
are actually thinking beyond what you think; you are thinking about what you think or thought
of?

- Yes, because in terms of academic commitments, I have passionate to make my time ready to the
things that I do and I just supposedly do what I can just to finish the tasks.
