Assertion : In human male, testes are extra-abdominal and lie in scrotal sacs.
13 Reason : Scrotum acts as thermoregulator and keeps testicular temperature lower by 2°C for 1
normal spermatogenesis.
Assertion : Cross of F1 Progeny of Mendelian monohybrid cross with recessive homozygous

Reason : No recessive individual are obtained in the monohybrid test cross progeny.
Assertion: A good example of multiple alleles is ABO blood group system.

express their own.
Assertion: At global level, India is regarded as one of the mega biodiversity country.
16 1

29 According to Hardy Weinberg principle, the allele frequencies in a population are stable and 4

evolution.

Vectors containing the foreign DNA have to be forced into host cells that are
made competent to do so. A common method is to first treat host cells with
calcium chloride and then incubate these cells on ice. This is followed by briefly
placing them at 42 °C and then putting them back on ice. This enables the host
cells to take up recombinant DNA and is called the heat shock treatment.

(b) Calcium from a CaCl2 solution binds to DNA making it easier for them to enter
a cell. Why?
(c) Why does the heat shock treatment make the membrane porous allowing
for easy uptake of DNA?.
