INTRODUCTION
The environment is defined as surroundings that have the conditions for
living organisms to operate. It includes the living and non-living components such
as air, water, and energy which we interact in a complex web interconnection
from us to another and to the world we live in.
It is where we get resources needed to stay alive and healthy such as clean
water, air, food, shelter, and energy. As a result, we are part of, and not apart,
from the rest of nature. This module is an introduction to environmental science.

ACTIVITY 1: TIMEFRAME: 10 MINUTES

WHAT TO KNOW!
Environmental Science is an
interdisciplinary study, (see
figure1), of how humans interact
with the living and nonliving
components of their environment.
What makes environmental
science an interdisciplinary field?
What are its main goals? Let’s find
out in the succeeding activities.

WHAT I NEED (MATERIALS)

• worksheet • pen

WHAT TO DO (PROCEDURE)
DIRECTIONS: Answer the following question by filling the box or the table
below them.

1. Based on figure 1, What makes environmental science an interdisciplinary

field?

2. Listed below are the discipline in which ideas are integrated to study
human interaction with its environment. Identify what each discipline
studies and what are the information and ideas we get from them.

ACTIVITY 2 TIMEFRAME: 15 MINUTES
WHAT TO KNOW:
Nowadays, the world are changes rapidly that some of the changes are
beneficial and some changes are harmful to the earth. Environmental science
helps us to study these rapid changes and how it affects the world we lived in.

WHAT I NEED:
• internet • cellphone • worksheet • pen

WHAT TO DO:
DIRECTIONS: List down some recent the changes happened to the world
and discuss its relationship to environmental science.
Changes Relation to environmental science
1. Population Exponential Growth consumption of natural resources
2.
3.
4.
5.
Guide Questions:
1. Based on the list of changes and its relation to environmental science, how
do you think environmental science help us in those changes?

2. Why do you think environmental science is important to study?
