1970: the island of Amanpulo which is the Pamalican Island was merely an island used by the people of
the neighboring islands for agricultural purposes. Until a sailing family seeking refuge from a storm
stumbled upon the island and saw its potential.
1985: In 1985 Adrian Zecha, The visionary founder of Aman resorts partnered with interested parties to
develop a secluded island retreat in the Philippines. Pamalican Island, with its pristine beauty and
potential emerged as a perfect location.
1988: The name "Amanpulo" was coined, combining the Sanskrit word "aman" for peace and the
Tagalog word "pulo" for island. This aptly captured the essence of the envisioned peaceful island
