NUMBER SYSTEM

Integer: (Z): Counting numbers (+ve and -ve)

Positive Integers: (Z+): are greater than 0, e.g. 1, 2, 3, …, and so on.

Negative Integers: (Z-): are lesser than 0, e.g. -1, -2, -3, …, and so
on.

Number ‘0’ is known as ‘Neutral Integer’.

Natural numbers: (N): are all counting numbers.

e.g. 1, 2, 3, 4, …etc

Whole Numbers: Zero and natural numbers together form

whole nos.

E.g. 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, …. etc.
Even Numbers: Numbers divisible by 2. E.g. 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, …. etc.

Odd Numbers: Numbers not divisible by 2. E.g. 1, 3, 5, 7, 9,…. etc.

Prime Numbers: Those numbers which have exactly two factors,
itself and one. E.g. 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, …. etc.

Composite Numbers: Those numbers which have at least three

factors.
E.g. 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 12, 14, … etc.

Note: Number 1 is neither Prime nor Composite.
