Absolute scale of temperature or thermodynamics scale of

temperature
There are various kind of thermometer like mercury thermometer ,gas
thermometer, platinum thermometer resistance thermometer, which can be
used for the purpose of temperature measurement. But the temperature of
substance, which varies with temperature. For example volume or pressure in
case of mercury temperature vary with temperature further volume or
pressure of gas In case of gas thermometer vary with temperature Similarly
the resistance In case of Platinum resistance thermometer vary with
temperature. Due to this factor temperature measurement by these
Thermometer show a variation to a large extent for example temperature
measured by mercury thermometer does not agree with temperature same
system measured by gas thermometer.
Thus it became necessary to define a scale of temperature which is
independent of properties of substance used Kelvin introduces a new scale of
temperature, which is independent of properties of substance used. And this
scale of temperature based upon the working of Carnet engine called
Absolute scale of temperature.

Considering two reversible heat engine RE1 and RE2

η 1 = Work output per cycle/ Heat supplied to that T1

engine per cycle
= W1/W2 =Q1-Q2/Q1 = 1-Q2/Q1= Φ (T1,T2)

η 2 =W2/Q2=Q2-Q3/Q2=1-Q3/Q2= Φ (T1,T2)

Now since heat is dependent on temperature this efficiency

of both engine may be written as function of Saul
temperature

η 2 =1-Q2/Q1= Φ (T1,T2)+Q2/Q1=1- Φ (T1,T2)

= Ψ (T1,T2)

η 2=1-Q3/Q2= Φ (T2,T3)=Q3/Q2=1- Φ (T2,T3)

= Ψ (T2,T3)
