 Types of styles in libre office writer-

Writer provides six Style categories – Page,


Paragraph, Character, Frame, List and Table.

1. Page Style: Controls page layout, margins,


orientation, headers, and footers.

2. Paragraph Style: Formats paragraph structure,


including alignment, spacing, and text flow.

3. Character Style: Applies font, size, and color to


specific text portions.

4. Frame Style: Manages frames for images or text,


including borders and positioning.

5. List Style: Defines bullet or numbering styles and


list indentation.

6. Table Style: Formats tables with borders, shading,


and cell alignment.

 Steps to apply styles-


To create a Table Style in LibreOffice:

1. Open Writer: Open your document.


2. Insert a Table: Go to Table > Insert Table, set rows
and columns, then click- OK.
3. Open Styles Sidebar: Press F11 or go to View >
Styles. Click the Table Styles icon.
4. Create New Style: Right-click in the Table Styles
section and select- New.
5. Customize Style: In the dialog box, set properties
like borders, background, font, alignment, and
spacing.
6. Apply Style: Save your style and apply it by
selecting a table and double-clicking the style name in
the sidebar.

This ensures consistent table formatting in your


document.
 Creating a new style form selection-
To create a new style from a selection in LibreOffice:

1. Format the Content: Apply desired formatting to


text, paragraphs, or objects.
2. Select the Content: Highlight the formatted content.
3. Open Styles Sidebar: Press F11 or go to View >
Styles.
4. Create Style: Choose the relevant style type (e.g.,
Paragraph, Character) from the sidebar.
5. New Style from Selection: Click the "New Style from
Selection" button and select "New Style from
Selection...".
6. Name the Style: Enter a name and click- OK.
7. Apply the Style: Your new style will appear in the
sidebar for future use.

This simplifies applying consistent formatting


throughout your document.
 Loading a style from template-
To load a style from a template in LibreOffice:

1. Open Your Document: Open the document where


you want to apply styles.
2. Open Styles Sidebar: Press F11 or go to View >
Styles.
3. Load Styles: Click the "Styles Actions" (gear icon)
and select "Load Styles...".
4. Select Template: Choose- From File... and select the
desired template ( .ott ).
5. **Choose Style Categories**: Select style categories
(Text, Frame, Pages, etc.) and check **Overwrite** if
needed.
6. **Apply Styles**: Click **OK** to load the styles into
your document.

This ensures consistent formatting using predefined


styles.
 New style using drag and drop-
To add a new style using drag and drop in LibreOffice:

1. Open the Styles Sidebar: Press F11 or go to View >


Styles.

2. Format Your Content: Apply desired formatting to


text or a paragraph.

3. Drag and Drop: Select the formatted content, drag


it into the Styles sidebar, and drop it in the
appropriate category (e.g., Paragraph Styles).

4. Name Your Style: Enter a name in the dialog box


that appears and click- OK.

Your new style will now be available in the Styles


sidebar for reuse.
 Insert an image to document-
To insert an image in LibreOffice:

1. Open Your Document: Launch LibreOffice Writer and


open your document.

2. Place the Cursor: Click where you want the image to


appear.

3. Insert the Image: Go to- Insert > Image, navigate to


your image, select it, and click Open.

4. Adjust Image Properties (Optional): Resize or move


the image as needed. Right-click for options like
Position and Wrap.

5. Save Your Document: Don’t forget to save your


changes.

This allows you to easily add images to your


documents.
 Modify, resize, crop and delete an
image-
To modify, resize, crop, and delete an image in
LibreOffice:

1. Select the Image: Click on the image to see handles


around it.

2. Resize: Drag corner handles to resize while


maintaining the aspect ratio. Hold “Shift” to keep
proportions.

3. Crop: Right-click the image and select Crop. Adjust


cropping options in the dialog or drag crop handles.

4. Delete: Select the image and press the “Delete”


key.

5. Save Changes: Don’t forget to save your document.

These steps will help you manage images in your


LibreOffice documents effectively.
 Positioning image in text-
To position an image in LibreOffice:

1. Insert the Image: Go to- Insert > Image and select


your file.
2. Select the Image: Click the image to see handles.
3. Wrap Options: Right-click the image, select Wrap,
and choose a style (e.g., In Line with Text, Wrap
Around).
4. Adjust Position: Right-click the image and choose
Position for precise placement.
5. Drag to Reposition: Click and drag the image as
needed.
6. Save Changes: Remember to save your document.

These steps will help you position images effectively


within your text.
 Create a drawing object-
To create a drawing object in LibreOffice:

1. Open LibreOffice: Launch Draw or Writer.


2. Show Drawing Toolbar: In Writer, select- View >
Toolbars > Drawing.
3. Select a Tool: Choose- Line, Rectangle, Ellipse, or
Polygon.
4. Draw: Click and drag to create your shape.
5. Format (Optional): Change fill color, line color, or
thickness as needed.
6. Group (Optional): Select multiple objects, right-
click, and choose Group.
7. Save: Don’t forget to save your document!
These steps will help you create and manipulate
drawing objects in LibreOffice.

 Create a template-
To create a template in LibreOffice:

1. Open LibreOffice: Launch Writer or another app.


2. Create a Document: Start a new or existing
document.
3. Format: Set up styles, headers, and footers.
4. Add Placeholders (Optional): Include text like
“[Your Name].”
5. Save as Template: Go to File > Templates > Save As
Template, name it, choose a category, and click- Save.
6. Set Options (Optional): Right-click the template in
the manager for options.
7. Use Your Template: Go to File > Templates >
Manage Templates, select your template, and click
Open.

 Use predefined template-

To use predefined templates in LibreOffice:

1. Open LibreOffice: Launch the application (Writer,


Calc, etc.).

2. Access Template Manager: Go to File > Templates >


Manage Templates.
3. Browse Templates: View available templates in the
Template Manager.

4. Select a Template: Click on the desired template.

5. Open the Template: Click- Open or double-click to


create a new document.

6. Customize: Modify the document as needed.

7. Save: Go to File > Save As to save your customized


document.

Using templates helps you create documents quickly


with a professional look.

 Set up custom default template-


To set up a custom default setup in LibreOffice:

1. Open LibreOffice: Launch Writer, Calc, or your


desired application.

2. Customize Settings: Go to- Tools > Options to


adjust:
- User Data: Enter your name and initials.
- Language Settings: Set your preferred language.
- Default Fonts: Change fonts under LibreOffice
Writer > Basic Fonts (Western).

3. Create a Custom Template: Format a document with


your preferred styles, then go to File > Templates >
Save As Template and save it.

4. Set as Default: In File > Templates > Manage


Templates, right-click your template and select Set as
Default.

5. Save Changes: Click OK in the Options window.

6. Restart LibreOffice: Close and reopen the


application to apply changes.

 Change to a different template and use


it-

To change to a different template in LibreOffice:

 Update a document-

To update a document in LibreOffice, follow these


steps:

1. Open the Document: Launch LibreOffice and open


the document you want to update by going to File >
Open.
2. Make Changes: Edit the text, format, or add new
content as needed.

3. Insert Updates (if applicable): If you're updating


content like images or tables, use- Insert from the
menu to add new elements.

4. Save Changes: After making your updates, save the


document by clicking File > Save, or use the keyboard
shortcut Ctrl + S.

5. Use Version Control (optional): To keep track of


changes, consider using the Versioning feature under
File > Versions.
