1 mm diameter, rolling along a fixed straight line. Draw and name the curves K3
traced out by the points Q and S during one revolution of the circle.

A car is running at a speed of 50 km/hour. Construct a diagonal scale to show 1
3 km by 3 cm and to measure upto 6 km. Mark also on the scale the distance K3
covered by the car in 5 minutes 28 seconds.

*K1: Remember, K2: Understand, K3: Apply, K4: Analyze, K5: Evaluate, K6: Create.
ASSIGNMENT 1 ANSWERS

Level I

1.

2.
3.

Level II

1.
2.
RF = 1/32
Maximum Length = 4 Yards
Length of the scale = (1/32) * 4yards = (1/32) * 4 * 3feet = (1/32) * 4 * 3 * 12inches = 4.5inches

3.
RF = 1:40
Maximum Length = 6m
Length of the scale = (1/40) * 6m = (1/40) * 6 * 100cm = 15cm

Level III

1.

OR
2.
3.

RF = 3cm/1km
Maximum Length = 6km
Length of the scale = (3cm/1km) * 6km = 18cm
As we have to Mark on the scale the distance covered by the car in 5 minutes 28 seconds.
Convert the KM scale in terms of minutes and seconds with the relation given when the car is
running at a speed of 50 km/hour.
*50km/hour = 5km/6min i.e., 6km in 7.2min
