Not entailment: Passing a driving test doesn't necessarily mean she can drive a car; she might can drive a motorbike or any other vehicles. 2. He is a bachelor. / He is unmarried.
Entailment: By definition, a bachelor is an unmarried man.
3. The car is blue. / The car is colored.
Entailment: If the car is blue, it must be colored.
4. Chloe owns a smartphone. / She owns a SAMSUNG smartphone.
Not entailment: Owning a smartphone does not imply owning a SAMSUNG
smartphone; it might be a smartphone of another brands.
5. The sun is shining. / It is daytime.
Entailment: If the sun is shining, it must be daytime.
TASK 2 1. All circles are round. NT: This is necessarily true by the definition of a circle.
2. It is raining outside. CT: This is only true under certain conditions, and it could be false at another time.
3. All squares have four equal sides.
NT: This is always true by the definition of a square.
4. John is 30 years old.
CT: This is true only based on current facts and could change over time (next year, he will be 31).
5. A triangle has three sides.
NT: This is necessarily true because of the definition of a triangle.
