Most hardware devices also include a user interface,

though it is typically not as complex as a software
interface.

A common example of a hardware device with a user

interface is a remote control. A typical TV remote has
a numeric keypad, volume and channel buttons, mute
and power buttons, an input selector, and other
buttons that perform various functions.

These buttons provide the means by which the user

interacts with the TV.

Other examples of hardware interfaces

are

A keyboard – Keyboards are designed to

allow the user to interact with a
software. Some keyboards
(specialized)provide interaction for
specialised persons.
Example a Braille keyboard for a visually
impaired person.

telephone.
Or a touch sensitive screen, a display
device that allows the user to
interact with a computer by using
their finger or stylus.
USER INTERFACE - Software Interface
Command Driven Interface

keyboard, commands using a special command
language.

The main interfacing device for a command driven

interface is the keyboard.

Menu Driven Interface

from a displayed menu.

The main interfacing device for a command driven

interface is the mouse.

Advantages – User doesn't have to memorised the

In a graphic user interface images (graphic elements –

icons) represent the choices that the user cam make.

The main interfacing device/s for a command driven

interface are the mouse and or touch screens.

Advantages – User doesn't have to memorised the

commands.

Disadvantages – User may have to make several
