Based on the resources, starting from the curriculum implementation, respond to the

following questions.

1.List three factors that will make a new curriculum succeed

2.List three factors that will make a new curriculum difficult to succeed.

Example student answer.

### Factors Influencing Curriculum Success and Difficulty

* **Three factors that will make a new curriculum succeed:**

1. Understanding Curriculum as a Process: A curriculum, as a planned series of

learning experiences, should be at the heart of every teacher's thinking. Every
teacher, as a curricularist, should be involved in designing a curriculum.
2. Achieving Learning Outcomes: When designing a curriculum, consider what
learning outcomes need to be achieved and what content should be included to reach
those outcomes. Think about the learning experiences and resources that will be
employed and how the learning outcomes will be measured.
3. Recognizing Curriculum Change as Inevitable: Curriculum change is
unavoidable, required, and advantageous. Curriculum changes should build on what is
already in place and consider the time period in which they are implemented.

Three factors that will make a new curriculum difficult to succeed:

1. Ignoring Student Needs and Experiences:** Subject-centered designs are easy

to deliver because they often correspond with textbooks. However, the disadvantage
to this design is that learning becomes compartmentalized, overemphasizing content
and forgetting learners' needs and experiences.
2. **Lack of Teacher Buy-in:** Curriculum change is dependent on the
individuals who will be implementing the change. Therefore, teacher buy-in is
essential to curriculum success.
3. **Insufficient Resources:** Obsolete equipment and limited resources
present a restraining force to curriculum implementation.

### Factors Influencing Curriculum Success and Difficulty

* **Three factors that will make a new curriculum succeed:**

1. People who will implement the changes: Curriculum change depends on the
people who will be responsible for putting the new curriculum into practice. This
includes teachers, administrators, and other staff members who need to understand
and support the changes.
2. A comprehensive and systematic process: Curriculum development is more
effective if it is a comprehensive process. Following a systematic process ensures
that all aspects of the curriculum are carefully considered and that the changes
are well-planned and implemented.
3. Cooperation and Collaboration: Curriculum development works best when it is
a cooperative group activity. By involving a range of stakeholders in the process,
including teachers, administrators, parents, and students, schools can build
support for the new curriculum and make sure that it meets the needs of all
involved.
* **Three factors that will make a new curriculum difficult to succeed:**

1. Fear of the unknown and Negative attitudes towards change: Resistance to

change can be a major obstacle to successful curriculum implementation. Teachers
and other staff members may be hesitant to embrace new ideas or methods, especially
if they are comfortable with the existing curriculum.
2. Limited Resources: Implementing a new curriculum can require significant
resources, including funding for new materials, professional development for
teachers, and time for planning and collaboration. A lack of resources can make it
difficult to implement the curriculum effectively.
3. Obsolete Equipment: Outdated equipment and technology can hinder the
implementation of a new curriculum. For example, if a new curriculum emphasizes
digital literacy but the school lacks sufficient computers or internet access, it
will be challenging to implement the curriculum as intended.
