Questions:

1. Explain the design issues related to the layered approach in computer networks. Describe
the concept of protocol hierarchy. Provide an overview of the ISO-OSI reference model
and its functions for each layer. Discuss various terminology commonly used in computer
networking. [10 Marks]

2. Compare and contrast connection-oriented and connectionless services in networking.


Analyze the advantages and disadvantages of each service type. Provide real-world
examples of scenarios where connection-oriented and connectionless services are
preferred. [10 Marks]

3. Describe the Internet (TCP/IP) reference model and its key layers. Explain the functions of
each layer in the TCP/IP model and how they relate to the OSI model. Provide examples
of well-known protocols associated with each layer. [10 Marks]

4. Compare the ISO-OSI reference model and the TCP/IP model. Analyze the similarities and
differences between these two models in terms of their layering schemes and
functionalities. Discuss the reasons behind the popularity of the TCP/IP model in practical
networking. [10 Marks]

5. Design a network architecture for a company that must adhere to both the ISO-OSI and
TCP/IP reference models. Specify the layers and protocols from each model that will be
used in the network. Justify your design choices based on the company's requirements and
compatibility considerations. [10 Marks]
