Maths Ch-2 Relations and Functions
1. Consider the function f(x)= √𝒙𝟐 − 𝟒. Determine the domain of f and explain any
restrictions on x.
2. For the function g(x)= log (x2-9), find the domain of g.
3. Define a function h(x) such that its domain is R∖{0} and its range is R.
4. If f(x)= x/x, determine the domain and range of f.
5. Explain why the function k(x)=√𝟐𝒙 − 𝟏/(𝒙 + 𝟑) has a restricted domain. Determine
the domain of k.
6. Consider the function f(x)= (x2-9)/(x2-4x+3), find the domain of f.
7. For the function g(x)=1/(1+x+x2+x3+ … + xn), determine the domain of g.
8. Define a function h(x) such that its domain is R∖{1} and its range is R∖{0}.
9. If f(x)=(x2-1)/(x2−3x), determine the domain of f and any values of x that make f(x)
undefined.
10. Consider the function g(x)=x2−2x+1. Determine the domain of g and explain any
restrictions on x.
