2 HR FIRE RATED CS BOARD DATA SHEET

PRODUCT INTRODUCTION
A smooth asbestos free Fire board with good thermal conductivity, tested and approved by South African authorities.
FIRE BOARD CS has the following features:

 Light, thin – easy to carry, move and process.

 Moisture resistant - If the board gets wet, air-drying to remove the water will restore all the properties of the board.
 Flexibility – FIRE BOARD CS is more rigid than plywood.
 Fire Rated – Non Combustible
 Non Toxic under Fire
 Resistant to climatic conditions and moisture
 Rot Proof, Termite Resistant and Fungus Resistant
 Dimensionally Stable
 Trafficable and hard wearing, stability dependent on substrate fixed to
 Good Thermal Properties
 Easy to work and fix.
 Safe to work with, containing no hazardous materials and 100% asbestos free.
 Smooth surface for ease of finishing

APPLICATIONS

 Structural Steel
 Ceilings, roofs and floors
 Partitions and external walls
 Ventilation and smoke extraction ducts
 Electrical & mechanical services enclosures
 Fire resistant glazing
 Tunnel fire protection and concrete upgrading
 Smoke barriers, access hatch and panels

In the case of Fireboard CS board, the longitudinal direction is identical with the direction of manufacture. In
Order to calculate permissible loading, application of the following values is recommended:

FLEXION>/250
BEARING SAFETY FACTOR>3

In the following work sheets, certain makes of screws may be specified as being preferential in order to ensure a certain
level of quality. The properties in all tables are mean values gives for guidance only. If certain properties are critical for a
particular reason it is advisable to consult Firewerx.

NOTICE FOR INSTALLATIONS

 FIRE BOARD CS can be worked using normal wood working cutting equipment.
 Nailing - A pneumatic gun can be used for nailing, but always ensure that the press penal at the gun head is
adjusted. The use of stainless steel staples is recommended. For ceiling work, we suggest the use of 10 mm wide
staples to increase the holding strength. For wall panel or other application, 4 mm wide staple is acceptable.
 Screw fixing- the use of 32mm ceiling screws is recommended
 Although not recommended, care should be taken when countersinking screws, as they might pull through.
 For fire rated application, screws must be covered with at least 1000µ Intumescent mastic which can then be
skimmed with Cretestone or Rhino Lite.
 For skim finishing, ensure surface is dust and oil free, apply sufficient bonding agent, as per skim product
specification.
 Ensure at least 10mm expansion gap around perimeter, to be filled with fire rated mastic
 Note should be taken of which side to expose, as the smooth side is for painting, and the textured side is for
skimming or tiling.
SAFE HANDLING INFORMATION
The product is stable under normal conditions of storage. Individual board should be stacked and handled
carefully to avoid damage to the board. FIRE BOARD CS boards should be lifted from a stack by sliding it
sideway and carrying it by the long edges with arms spread apart to give even support of the board. Keep
materials dry and store in dry and covered place. If the sheets should become wet, allow drying thoroughly before
fixing is commenced.

STORAGE AND TRANSPORT:

FIRE BOARD CS is supplied in sheets on wooden pallets to permit handling by forklift truck. During storage, boards
should be place on top of the battens / supports which are laid flat and equally spaced at not more than 400 mm
intervals on solid level ground. Do not store boards on edge or lean upright for long periods. Each pallet should be
covered and well protected indoors. No special transport equipment needed.
1. Lying on Smooth Flat Surface 2. Timber battens ≦ 400 mm intervals to provide flat
surface

3. Insufficient timber batten supports do not provide smooth flat surface
