2 Features

The FusionModule2000 features high integration, outstanding security and reliability, space
saving, high energy efficiency, quick installation, optimal compatibility, fast and flexible
deployment, excellent monitoring, and stable cooling. It is a new-generation smart modular
data center solution.

High Integration
 The smart module integrates a cabinet system, power supply and distribution system,
cooling system, facility management system, surge protection and grounding system,
auxiliary fire extinguishing system, and integrated cabling system. It provides an overall
solution.
 The integrated power supply and distribution system have distributes power to
uninterruptible power systems (UPSs), smart cooling products, and IT equipment.

When the 380 V power supply is used and there are more than four battery cabinets or when the 480
power supply is used, battery racks are independently deployed.

Outstanding Security and Reliability

 The smart module supports optional aisle and cabinet access control, which prevents
unauthorized personnel from entering the smart module and improves security.
 Rotating skylights open automatically in case of fire, and the emergency button opens
the door in case of emergency, which improves the data center safety.
 The smart module supports two power inputs.
 Each UPS is configured with a manual maintenance bypass switch. When the smart
module is working properly, the switch is locked to prevent misoperations.
 Modular UPSs work in N+1 redundancy mode to improve the reliability of the smart
module.
 Strong-current and weak-current cables, optical fibers, and network cables are routed
separately to minimize electromagnetic interference.
 The electronic expansion valve used in a smart cooling product has a backup power
module which ensures that the electronic expansion valve can be closed when the system
is powered off, thereby preventing compressor damage.
 The positive temperature coefficient (PTC) electric heater of the smart cooling product
provides dual protection functions: automatic reset and auto-recovery disabling.

5.3.4.4 Monitoring Interface Card

 The FE port resembles the RS485 port. Follow the silk screen when connecting
communications cables as, if the RS485 port is mistaken for the FE port during cable
connection, the WebUI cannot be connected and MDU communication fails. Conversely, if
the FE port is mistaken for the RS485 port during cable connection, RS485
communication fails.
 Only once being set will dry contact signals take effect. Set unused dry contact signals to
the unused state on the LCD.
 In a parallel system, ensure that used dry contacts properly connect to each UPS.

The monitoring interface card provides external ports as well as monitoring and control
functions for the MDU. The ports include the ambient temperature and humidity sensor port,
FE port, battery temperature monitoring port, and network management port. MDU functions
include monitoring of the UPS, allowing users to set parameters, command delivery,
information reports, and UPS key information and parameters displayed on the LCD.

5.8 Battery Cabinet

A maximum of two battery groups and up to four battery cabinets (in 2N scenario) can be
deployed inside the smart module. If many batteries are configured, they can be deployed
outside the smart module.
 If the configured batteries can be placed in four or fewer battery cabinets, it is
recommended that battery cabinets be deployed inside the smart module (smart module
A). Battery cabinets or racks can also be deployed with UPS batteries outside smart
module A (batteries deployed outside) or smart module B.
 If the number of configured batteries exceeds the capacity of four battery cabinets, it is
recommended that battery racks be deployed outside smart module A (batteries deployed
outside) or the smart module B. Battery cabinets can also be deployed with UPS batteries
outside smart module A (batteries deployed outside) or smart module B.
The battery cabinets provide space for installation and cabling of batteries and the iBattery
intelligent battery management system for the smart module.

6.6 Aisle End Door

End doors are classified into sliding doors and revolving doors. End doors are installed on
both ends of the aisle containment, which makes the module independent, improves
equipment efficiency, and helps onsite personnel or devices move into or out of the aisle
containment.

Sliding Door

Figure 6-11 Sliding door

The dimensions of sliding doors are as follows:

2000 mm high cabinet: H x W x D = 2300 mm x 1400 mm x 54 mm
2200 mm high cabinet: H x W x D = 2500 mm x 1400 mm x 54 mm

Sliding doors can be opened only sideways, and therefore may involve risks during fire extinguishing

6.10 Cable Trough

Cabinet cable troughs are categorized into signal cable troughs and power cable troughs,
which are used to route signal cables and power cables respectively. This ensures that weak
current cables are separated from strong current cables.
A cable trough consists of several parts that are clamped together. A cable trough is assembled
using two brackets, one supporting plate, and one partition plate (used to separate
weak-current optical fibers from weak-current network cables and separate strong-current
route A from strong-current route B).
A cable trough is 170 mm high and 310 mm long.

6.11 (Optional) Cable Tray

Cable trays are used to route cables across two rows of cabinets in the smart module. If two
rows of cabinets are deployed, route strong-current and weak-current cables over the control
skylight at either end of the rows preferentially. If there are more than 24 cabinets, install one
cable tray on the top of end cabinets for routing power cables as there are many cables to be
routed.
A cable tray is 2.5 m long.

6.12 (Optional) Adaptive Frame

To meet requirements for cabinet height and depth in different scenarios, tail frames, top
frames, and smart cooling product adaptive frames can be installed. In this way, all cabinets in
the smart module can have the same height and depth and the two rows of cabinets can have
the same length.

are met:
 The maximum dimensions of a column in the data center are 1100 mm x 1100 mm.
 There are fewer than two columns in the aisle width direction.
 If a column is located at an end of the smart module, the smart module supports only the
revolving door.
 If a column in the data center is irregular, ensure that the maximum cross section of the
column does not interfere with cabinets.

7 Temperature Control System

7.1 System Overview

The cooling system uses in-row air cooled smart cooling products and an aisle containment
for cooling. The in-row air cooled smart cooling products and equipment cabinets form an
aisle containment to separate hot air from cold air.
An in-row air cooled smart cooling product works as follows: After the unit starts, the
low-pressure refrigerant vapor in the refrigerating system is suctioned into the compressor,
compressed into high-pressure vapor, and discharged to the condenser. The outdoor air drawn
in by the axial flow fan flows through the condenser and carries away the heat emitted from
the refrigerant so that the high-pressure refrigerant vapor condenses into high-pressure liquid.
The high-pressure liquid passes through the filter and flow regulating mechanism and then is
ejected to the evaporator. Then the liquid vaporizes at low pressure and absorbs ambient heat.
The cross-flow fan draws air into the fins in the evaporator to exchange heat and discharges
cooled air to the cold aisle. The indoor air flows cyclically to decrease the temperature.
In-row smart cooling products are close to heat sources, which shortens the air supply
distance, reduces airflow pressure loss and cold air loss, and maximizes the use of cooling
capacity.

Outdoor unit installation environments are classified as follows based on the harshness:
 Class A (controlled environment): indoor environments where the ambient temperature and humidity
are controlled, including rooms where people live
 Class B (uncontrollable environment): indoor environments where the ambient temperature and
humidity are not controlled or general outdoor environments with simple shielding measures where
the humidity sometimes reaches 100%
 Class C (harsh environment): marine environments within 3.7 km from the coast or outdoor land
environments with simple shielding measures within 1.2 km from a pollution source
 Class D (marine environment): environments within 500 m from the coast
The NetCol500-A0365S11E0 and NetCol500-A0265S11E0 outdoor units must not be installed in class
D environments, and other outdoor units must not be installed in class C or class D environments.

7.4.3 (Optional) Low-Temperature Component

Working Principle
When the outdoor temperature is below the operating temperature lower limit specified for the
product, the condensing pressure of the system for the outdoor unit condenser with natural
cooling may still stay below the safe operating pressure of the compressor. A low-temperature
component is required to address this issue.
The low-temperature component intelligently controls the condensing pressure to ensure that
the equipment can work safely and reliably at an outdoor ambient temperature as low as
–40ºC. When detecting that the outdoor condensing pressure is low, the pressure stabilizing
valve automatically opens to bypass hot gas to the liquid storage tank of the low-temperature
component, thereby ensuring that the condensing pressure stays within the range for safe and
reliable operation. When detecting that the condensing pressure exceeds the threshold, the
pressure stabilizing valve automatically closes the bypass.

7.7 L1/L2 Linkage (iCooling Function)

Features
 Energy saving: When the requirements of cooling capacity are determined, an optimal
operation mode for multiple smart cooling products can be adopted to minimize the total
cooling power consumption.
 Rapid elimination of hot spots: The power of equipment can be detected to accelerate the
response of smart cooling products and by using the air inlet temperature, the partial hot
spots that may exist in the smart module can be eliminated.
 Reliable operation: According to the load power, the number of operating smart cooling
products is minimized to avoid frequent startup and shutdown of smart cooling products
as well as temperature field fluctuation.

Linkage Logic
1. Collect information about layouts, temperature and humidity, and power of all devices in
the smart module.
2. Correlate cabinets with smart cooling products in terms of airflow organization based on
the smart module layout.
3. Calculate heat dissipation of all devices in the smart module by using the equipment
power, after which the basic requirements of the cooling capacity can be determined.
Then roughly adjust the operating status of the smart cooling products (determine the
number of operating smart cooling products and initial rotational speed of the
compressors).
4. To meet temperature requirements for the smart module, slightly adjust the operating
status of smart cooling products according to the deviation of cooling requirements
calculated by using the data of temperature distribution in the smart module.
5. When distributing cooling requirements for each smart cooling product, minimize the
power consumption of the cooling system in the smart module with the help of energy
efficiency features of smart cooling products.

10 Surge Protection and Grounding

System

The surge protection and grounding system consists of the surge protection solution and
grounding solution.

Surge Protection Solution

SPDs are installed in front of the target equipment. The conducting wires to each SPD are
short (within 0.15 m) and straight. The SPD wires are copper wires with a minimum
cross-sectional area of 10 mm2, and the ground cables to SPDs are copper cables with a
minimum cross-sectional area of 16 mm2.

Grounding Solution

Solution 1: M-shaped (Grid) Grounding (Recommended)

FusionModule2000 Smart Modular Data Center
Product Description 10 Surge Protection and Grounding System

Figure 10-2 M-shaped (grid) grounding solution for a dual-row aisle containment

1. Each cabinet in the smart module connects to the ground grid nearby using ground cables
with a minimum cross-sectional area of 16 mm2.
2. Use 100 mm x 0.3 mm copper foils or 25 mm2 braided copper strips for the equipotential
bonding grid, and use 30 mm x 3 mm red copper strips for the equipotential bonding bar
based on the customer's configurations.

Solution 2: S-shaped (Star) Grounding (Not Recommended)

 A main ground copper bar is installed inside the PDC and a branch ground copper bar is
installed inside the first battery cabinet or IT cabinet adjacent to the PDC. Ground
terminals of cabinets inside the module are connected to the branch ground copper bar
over ground cables with a minimum cross-sectional area of 16 mm2. The branch ground
copper bar connects to the main ground copper bar over a ground cable with a minimum
cross-sectional area of 25 mm2. The main ground copper bar connects to a floor earthing
bar (FEB) or collective ground bar (copper bar with an area of 25 mm x 3 mm routed
along a cable tray or wall in the equipment room).
 Metal components and parts of cabinets are properly connected. A structural connection
area is protected by paint or not and applied with antioxidants before connection. A
protected area should ensure that two metal components can be properly connected. The
DC resistance is within 0.1 ohm between any two connected metal components. Use a
ground cable to connect two metal components that cannot be directly connected, such as
cabinets and cabinet doors. The cable should have a minimum cross-sectional area of 6
mm2.
 A ground copper bar or main ground point is provided in each cabinet for equipment
grounding. These ground copper bars do not need to be insulated.
 The ground terminal should be greater than or equal to M8 in dimensions. A yellow
ground label is attached close to the main ground terminal for cabinets, as shown in

.
Connect equipotential cables to metal components without carrying currents in the smart
module, such as metal doors and windows, cable trays, and ESD floor supports. Each
equipotential cable should have a minimum cross-sectional area of 6 mm2.
