Class Project Fall 2022
Class Project Fall 2022
Principles of Management
Fall 2021
Read the instructions very carefully and remember the deadlines. No delays!!!!!!
Dear Class,
Time to start thinking about your project. By now you may begin to communicate with your
group members and start thinking of an innovative and practicable entrepreneurial idea.
Group project will comprise 20% (written report 10%, Presentation 7%-Peer evaluation 3%) of
your overall grade. All group members should participate otherwise you may lose on the 3% of
the peer evaluation.
This project is about making a business plan (pg 245, Entrepreneurship) for a new business as an
entrepreneur. It could purely be a FOR PROFIT ENTREPRENEURIAL IDEA or a SOCIAL
ENTREPRENEURSHIP idea.
It should be a novel idea. By novelty I do not mean that you have to come up with something
totally new. It means that the idea should have a creative and socially impactful aspect about it.
Even if you are choosing an already existing idea for a product/service, you need to bring some
novelty and value addition in it either by proposing a unique business model ( for example, Uber
came up with an old idea of a taxi ride but they gave it a completely new way of availing a taxi
service which was a unique business model), or a unique product/service ( you may look out and
think about customers need for different services/products given our fast and global life style,
social trends etc).
For social entrepreneurial ideas, look out and do some research for prevailing social problems
and unique / creative solutions.
Written Report:
No more than 3500 words-minimum 3000 words. Double space, Calibri font,
size 12, no references required. Just stick to these requirements. The report
should have a separate title page which should indicate the name of your
business, group number, members’ names and IDs, and your section. The
report should be submitted in a folder. Each section should have proper
headings.
Your written report should be structured according to the following template:
2- Opportunity analysis (how did you spot the opportunity? It should broadly answer
the following questions:
What market need does this idea fulfill?
What information did you have regarding that market need? Where did you get it from
(through survey? Observation? Research? Net search? etc)
Which is/are the most important macroeconomic condition/s which emphasize this
market need?
What competition exists in this market? How do you rate it (high, medium, low, non-
existent) and why?
3- SWOT analysis of your business
4- What vision/ mission and values you will assign to your business
6- Positioning
You've established your target market, so now it's time to define how your company will
position itself in that market. What will be your business strategy (this only applies for
for-profit businesses i-e Are you the low-cost competitor? The premium service/niche
market? The cutting-edge innovation companies? For not-for-profit businesses you just
need to explain how will you use your social enterprise to make a change? How will you
position it?
DELIVERABLES:
7th November, 9 pm is the Deadline for submitting the business idea (Deliverable-1).
You need to submit the following to your TAs through mail with your section,

3. Grading Criteria
Report
ALL members should take part in the presentation. Q&A by the class at the end of the
presentation should also be ideally handled by maximum members.
I give you full margin to exhibit your creative thoughts in the presentation. You may
include self-made videos, memes, other videos, clips, skits, etc in your presentation to
make them interesting and vivid. This is the marking rubric.
o Under any circumstances, if groups fail to meet the above deadline but submit the
reports within 24 hours of crossing the deadline, submission will be accepted but
with 10% grade reduction in the project.
o Submissions will NOT be accepted after an extra margin of 24 hours after
the deadline (28th November, 11 pm).
Please contact me in case you have a problem understanding any element of this guideline.
Good Luck and happy working in your groups 😊!
