Detailed Lesson Plan: Interactive Multimedia

General Information
Grade Level: Grade 12

Subject: Empowerment Technologies (E-Tech)

Duration: 60 minutes

Curriculum Alignment: DepEd MELCs (Most Essential Learning Competencies)

MELC Code: CS_ICT11/12-ICTPT-Ie-f-8: Create an ICT project for social change using
productivity tools, multimedia tools, and/or online tools.

Lesson Objectives
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

1. 1. Define interactive multimedia and explain its importance in communication and ICT
projects.
2. 2. Identify examples of interactive multimedia tools and their applications.
3. 3. Demonstrate how to use multimedia tools to enhance communication and
engagement in an ICT project.

Materials Needed
- Multimedia presentation slides (PowerPoint or equivalent)

- Internet access for demonstrations (if possible)

- Tools for demonstration (e.g., Canva, Powtoon, Google Slides, or Prezi)

- Handouts summarizing interactive multimedia features and tools

- Whiteboard and markers

Lesson Structure

1. Review and Motivation (10 minutes)


Activity:

Begin with a warm-up question: 'What makes an online ad, presentation, or app engaging
for you?'

Show a short multimedia ad or presentation (with interactive elements such as clickable


buttons or animations).

Ask students:
- What caught your attention?

- How do you think interactive elements improve user experience?

Transition: Explain that today’s topic, “Interactive Multimedia,” focuses on how multimedia
tools can enhance communication and engagement in ICT projects.

2. Main Content (25 minutes)


 a. What is Interactive Multimedia? (5 minutes)

Definition:

- Multimedia: Combining text, images, audio, video, and animation to convey information.

- Interactive Multimedia: Multimedia that allows users to interact with the content (e.g.,
games, educational apps, interactive videos).

Examples: E-books, online courses, virtual tours, interactive advertisements.

Activity: Ask students to give examples of interactive multimedia they’ve encountered.

 b. Importance of Interactive Multimedia (5 minutes)

Key Points:

- Enhances engagement and retention.

- Provides dynamic ways to convey information.

- Enables personalized user experiences (e.g., quizzes, clickable menus).

Real-life Examples:

- E-learning platforms (e.g., Google Classroom, Kahoot!).

- Marketing campaigns using interactive videos.

Discussion: How can multimedia make presentations or projects more impactful?

 c. Tools for Creating Interactive Multimedia (10 minutes)

Tools and Features:

- Canva: Creating interactive infographics or presentations.

- Powtoon: Animated videos for storytelling.

- Prezi: Dynamic presentations with zoom-in effects.

- Google Slides: Adding hyperlinks, animations, and videos.


- Genially: For creating interactive visuals like quizzes or timelines.

Demo: Show a short demonstration of creating an interactive presentation using Canva or


Google Slides (e.g., adding clickable buttons or embedding a video).

Activity: Encourage students to share tools they are familiar with or excited to try.

3. Application: Hands-On Activity (15 minutes)


Activity: 'Design an Interactive Multimedia Slide'

1. Divide students into small groups.

2. Each group chooses a topic (e.g., an environmental campaign, school club promotion).

3. Use any available tool (e.g., Google Slides, Canva) to create a single interactive multimedia
slide with:

- Text

- Images

- Hyperlinks or clickable buttons

- At least one embedded video or animation.

Output: Groups present their slides and explain how the interactive elements enhance their
message.

4. Conclusion and Synthesis (10 minutes)


Summary:

- Recap the definition, importance, and tools for interactive multimedia.

- Highlight how it can be applied to ICT projects for social change (e.g., raising awareness,
education campaigns).

Q&A:

Example question: 'Why is interactivity important in multimedia, and how does it impact
communication?'

Homework:

- Create a short interactive multimedia project using any tool of your choice (e.g., an
