Why is Class A so Important?
 IEC61000-4-30 defines the correct measuring algorithms for power

quality instruments

 Instruments that meet Class A performance will, when connected to the

same signals, will produce the same results

 Class A instruments must meet the highest performance and accuracy

requirements in the standard

 This standard ensures that different PQ instruments use the same

definitions, and measurement techniques, for various power quality

parameters: sags/dips, swells, frequency, harmonics, flicker, etc.…

 Due to legal reasons class A is almost mandatory for power utilities

2009: UMG 511 Power Quality Monitoring Device Issue: 23 August 2010 Slide: 11
Why is kWh-Class 0.2 so Important?
 Especially for MV and HV class 0.2 is very common
 For power utilities and distribution companies class 0.2 is mandatory
 Market differentiation

2009: UMG 511 Power Quality Monitoring Device Issue: 23 August 2010 Slide: 12
What Is the Jasic Programming Used For?

 Threshold programming

 Automatic email dispatch if thresholds are exceeded

 Remote display

 Calculation of data of subordinate devices

 Control of slave devices on the RS485

 Monitoring of equipment, e.g. PFC, Motor, ….

 Active load control, e.g. peak demand management

 ….
