Lesson Plan

Topic – Sequence Counting

Learning Objective- Students need to learn concepts related to numbers,
including basic counting skills. This lesson plan is to reinforce and build skills
related to counting.

Source / material aid – videos, flashcard, beans or other small counting objects.

Learning outcome – after this lesson, students will be able to count numbers
forwards and backwards using a number line. Practice counting using fingers and
manipulatives.

Introduction –

- Gather students on the carpet and tell them they will be learning about
methods to count.
- Ask students if they know what the word “count” means.

Activity – warm up (5-6 minutes)

- The lesson begins with a warm up in which students work in groups to
generate a list of the ways they use in numbers in their everyday lives.
- After about five minutes, the teacher begins asking the class by groups for
one item on their list.
- The teacher writes each group’s suggestions on the white board and
concludes the warm up by emphasizing the importance of learning
numbers in order to function in society.

Direct instructions – (7-8 minutes)

- Next the teacher shows a video that reviews how to say the numbers from
0-500.
- As a class, students practice reciting the numbers from 1 to 20, 30, 40, 50,
60 etc.
- The teacher then calls on volunteers to say more complicated numbers
such as 101, 214, 300, 415 etc.
- Students will be asked to learn their parent’s mobile number.
Work Done – they wrote sequence counting from 1 – 300 in term one and from
300 – 500 in term two in their SWB and also in notebook.
