The topic about the extinction of several languages has stirred a lot of discussion among the general

public. Among the opinions, there is one suggesting that the disappearance of languages is now crucial
because they believe the fewer number of languages is the more high-quality life will become. From my
perspective, I am in disagreement with the given point of view. As to why, languages have a certain
importance to human’s existence such as maintaining cultural and traditional practices or countries
development.

Culture and tradition’s value are abstract and transparent to human so that it needs to be recorded and
passed down by something, one of which is languages. Indeed, languages are efficient for this work,
which people use to demonstrate information and spread the news to others. With the use of languages,
people can store knowledge in books and pass it down for the next generation, additionally, human can
communicate and understand each other via languages. Thus, countries’ identity could be preserved and
nurtured throughout the time human living on earth. Henceforth, it is true to say that each extinction of
a language lose the diversity of country identity, which may also cause the collapse of a society or a ethic
group, because language is a tool to nurture and protect cultural and traditional practices.

Furthermore, the disappearance of a language also refrain the development of a country. Owing to the
fact that the appearance of a language visualizes the country’s identity so that if there are nothing to
depict or represent for a whole country’s developed period, the country could be isolated and hard to
recognize. Besides, the disappearance of a language also engage misunderstanding between countries
because there are not a specific native language to express the right emotions. Henceforth, these
disadvantages can hold back a country’s development by preventing them from several business
opportunities.

In conclusion, though there are some people holding a belief that the extinction of languages is positive,
my stance is that language such as official or even ethic minority languages should not be eliminated.
Each individual should response for the existence of a language instead of putting an end to it because
this work needs more than one effort from people.
