The bar chart shows gender distribution of teachers across a range of six disciplines in the UK
in 2010.
In three out of six disciplines females outnumbered males. Moreover in two disciplines females
made a huge gap in field of Nursery/Pre school and Primary school. In Private training institute
and University number of male teachers outnumbered female teachers.
Men and women teachers were more equally represented in Secondary school and Private
training schools .Approximately 45 male and 55 female teachers in Secondary school and 56
male and 42 female teachers in Private training school.College was only one of the types of
educational setting in which number of male and female teachers were equal (45 to be certain).
Overall the bar chart shows that medical and school spheres continue to be women-dominated
ones. However female teachers have significant presence in spheres related to Universities and
Private training institutes.
Task 2
Some people believe that men or women have to be excluded from particular profession due to
the differences between their levels of power and weaknesses .I certainly agree with this
statement. In this essay I will explain my estimation and provide you with the logical conclusion.
Starting with differences between females and males, I would like to state that it is quite
common among some personas to believe that women are weaker and have lower expectations
for a working lady. Many employers prefer to accept less females comparing to the opposite
gender. To make it clear what I mean, most of the time they think that men are more
professional to have this particular job due to their strong abilities and iq. Additionally they may
believe that some job are not made for a lady to join . This statement also works in opposite way
for male workers too. From my point of view, no job has a gender and individuals applying for a
certain job must be graded equally.
On the other side, most of the time, hard occupations such as firefighter, engineer or pilot can
only be managed by men. The observation of Cambridge University students provided that male
part of population is more suitable to work at particular areas rather that ladies doing that. It is
due to the lack of enough emotional and physical stamina. Sure there are a lot of females that
are much more stronger comparing to the other gender, but it is still more suitable for stronger
individuals to take these jobs.
To conclude, I would like to state that people must decide themselves what do they wont to do.
Sometimes it is not about your gender, it is about your cognitive abilities and it does not depend
whether you are a weak lady or a strong man.

This report derives from a line graph which illustrates popularity of vegetarian type of diet
among young generation of UK from 1960 to 2020
Overall vegetarian diet’s highest percentage of population was in 1980s, while its lowest had
been until 1960s.This type of selection of food reached the highest peak in 1980s, and
fluctuated until 2000s. From 2000 till nowadays the percentage is stable and can’t renew their
highest point.
Starting from 1960 this type of nutrition made a huge rise and hit the highest point over 15% of
whole population in UK in 1980,but couldn’t remain at that level and slightly decreased for about
7% by 1990
After 1990 percentage of this type of diet started fluctuating between a lowest In order to be

Task 1
The bar chart shows a difference in proportion between local and foreign students, studying for
master’s degree or better ones at the most popular UK university in 2009.
Overall, the chart shows that at this university, science-related subjects were dominated by
international students, however UK students had significant appearances in subjects that
related to nursing and life sciences.
Starting with electrical engineering, the quota of intercontinental learners being tutored in this
field of studies is almost 80 percent and higher for about 20 percent than native UK students
learning the same course.Additionally international scholars made a huge gap in Electrical
engineering for about 30 percent, also diagram illustrates for us that this discipline was most
preferable though foreign students.
Second of all, the graph shows that second-class degrees like nursing and accountancy contain
equal amount of international and local learners (75 percent and 60 percent).
Obviously Uk students made a big difference approximately 20 percent in English literature and
created a little gap for about 10 and 5 percent in Art history and Sociology accordingly.
In order to be truly employable, the educated person should be able to demonstrate not
just knowledge but also the ability to work independently in teams.
OUTLINE
Thesis statement: Students can be motivated to work better in teams by giving them tasks and
teaching them important teamwork skills.
Government should create a more group tasks and include them in education system.
2nd idea: It can be taught as a separate subject in countries where teamwork is not achievable
at all.
Countries that have a low level of teamwork should include a separate subject which would
teach how to work in groups
Task 1
The bar graph illustrates the variety of purposes for education through separate age, groups of
students, and the proportion of help provided by bosses.
Overall, the percentage of students studying for a career is noticeably decreasing with growth in
age groups. However, the statement estimated above cannot be said about the students getting
educated for interest, also the amount of support they receive from their employers interestingly
fluctuates and can be explained
Career development is a mainstream for students under age of 39, moreover the proportion of
students under 26 years old is significantly higher than every age group in this diagram,
approximately 80 percent.Additionally studying for interest is very popular phenomenon for age
group over 49 years old, approximately 70 percent. The percentage of students who is studying
for interest and education is equal for age group from 30 to 39, but can not reach at least a half
of all students
80 percent of students aged 26 and below opt to study for career purposes who dominate
among all. Afterward, the trend starts to decline with age, becoming 40 percent for people
aged between 40 and 49 and twice less than that for people aged above 49. Conversely, there
is a reverse trend among people who study for interest purposes.
In second chart we can see that students under 29 years accept the biggest percentage of
support ,that can be explained by their young age and working abilities. Students over 49 years
receive near the half of all support , that be clarified by approaching retirement age.Age group
of 30-39 and 40-49 almost have a same proportion for about 30-35 percentAccording to the
second chart, financial support for education changes independent of the age group. First, the
support declines with the increase in age, and then it starts to increase for people aged 40 and
above.

The map shows two possible locations for the planned supermarket in Garsdon City. As it is
illustrated in the picture , the city has a population of more than 65 thousand and the two
possible locations for the supermarket are near Hindon area and in the middle of the industrial
area.
Overall, the first location (S1) is away from the town centre , which is more convenient for the
citizens of Hindson area, while the second location (S2) would be suitable for the people of
Bransdon and Cransdon area.If you look closer at the map , you can see the railway
intersecting the city almost in the middle. The housing of the town is mainly in the North and
South sides of the city.
The first possible location for the planned supermarket is near the Hindon area where almost
ten thousand inhabitants live. This location would be ideal for the Hindon people for shopping
but the people of Crandon and Brandon, which have more population, would not be able to shop
there , because the shop is far away.
The second possible location which is almost in the centre of the city would be surrounded by
industrial zones and housings in the North and South sides of the city. Since the railway passes
near this location, this would be a better place in terms of communication as well.
Creation of examination is made for measuring the intelligence and their skills
Task2
Paper-based tests are one of the most popular ways of checking knowledge in curriculum
system in the whole world. This type of examination helps educational institutions to
demonstrate the level of knowledge in their countries.Nevertheless there is a wide opinion among
the students that the examination system should be relooked.
There are clearly certain advantages of using this strategy of examination.Pen and paper exams
guarantee justice by providing the same conditions on all exams candidates. Also, the curriculum
examination system includes different types of questions, such as writing tasks, map questions,
and multiple choice questions; that allow to determine different abilities. However these exams have
a clearly noticeable loopholes also.Test-wise participants can easily perform well without general
understanding of subjects, just by cramming the material which is likely to be tested. Some
candidates cannot reach the highest score because of big level of anxiety and low amount of
self-confidence.
And still there are some things that can be done to address the problem constructively. In
whatever way ,exams should match the content and conditions of learning sphere.Exams tasks
should give a big variation of tasks to examine different types of skills.Other types of
assessment should also be observed, such as group assignments, research abilities and
teamwork skills.

The illustration below provides information about the results of the removal of forests .
As it can be seen from the picture, there are a lot of negative outcomes to logging, including
floods, soil erosion, drought and reduced biodiversity.
The primary consequence of deforestation could be divided into four categories. First of all,
heavy logging tools and equipment compress the soil, making it harder and baked. Owing to
this, rainwater runs off, and the devastating floods hit.Secondly, only a few roots hold the topsoil
in place, which ultimately leads to soil erosion.
Third, the risk of deliberate burning uprises and waste woods from the logging is demolished.
Micro-organisms depend upon the waste lost, and pioneer species move in while the vegetation
gets reduced. The entire process turns out to be a massive loss to biodiversity. Finally,
deforestation leads to lesser moisture returning to the air by plants, causing lesser precipitation.
In turn, it gives rise to drought—all of this causes less biodiversity.
Task 2
Nowadays there is a huge list of problem with endangered plants and animals , which
continues to grow. The causes are many:mining, big amounts of methane gasses and carbon
dioxide released by big factories. In my view ,there is a much that the population should do to
protect our planet.
The government should create new laws for regulating the amount of pollution which big
companies produce.
Also the government must include some activities in education system to educate young
generation.
Nowadays there are big problems with endangered plants and animals, which continue to grow.
There are methane gasses and carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere by big factories,as
well as by cars. Some would argue that the loss of biodiversity is a price we must pay for
progress. In my view, there is much that the population should do to protect our planet.
The government should make new laws to regulate the pollution big companies
produce.Companies that produce a big amount of dangerous chemicals must pay big fees and
if they continue to produce pollution, the government must take away a license from them. This
strategy alone would create a big impact to protect whole ecosystem that are under threat.
Also the government might include some activities into the school curriculum system to educate
the young generation.Schools can create a new lesson in which students can clean some
polluted areas every week for example. This strategy would have immediate positive
consequences in the near future.
The strategies outlined above can do much to reverse the destruction that threatens the world’s
ecosystem. The benefits of doing this type of activity will create a healthy environment for our
kids.
Task 2
Advertising is a very effective strategy for big companies to create a big amount of
sales.Usually these products include a lot of additional features which explains the high cost, but
actually consumers need just one or two features. There are no products on market which you
can buy for your needs, that is why consumers forced to pay for more than they actually need.
In my opinion advertising is a very effective way to be in touch with modern times, but some
advertisements should be regulated because they promote a big amount of useless
products.Through consistent and positive messaging companies can establish strong
relationships with their customers .This trust can be particularly beneficial in industries like
healthcare and wellness .

The chart illustrates information about average distance traveled per person ,by different modes
in England between 1985 and 2000.
As it can be noticed most of the modes are increasing with growth in years except some of the
modes.Generally the amount of distance traveled by all modes has increased significantly
during this period.
Starting from 1985 the population prefered public transport such as local buses ,long distance
buses and trains more than a taxi. The most popular transport was a car ,creating the biggest
proportion of all modes, approximately 75%, at the same time the least proportion was created
by the taxi approximately 3%.
In 2000 the popularity of cars only increased approximately by 1.600 miles per person, but the
same positive trend can not be seen in local bus and modes related to active ways of transport
such as walking and bicycling.

The debate over the high earnings of successful sports professionals compared to those in
other vital professions such as medicine, education, and public service is debateful. This issue
creates strong opinions on both sides.
Proponents of high salaries for sports professionals contend that these earnings are fully
justified for several compelling reasons. Firstly, the sports industry is a colossal economic
engine, generating significant revenue through ticket sales, merchandise and sponsorships. For
instance, premier football leagues like the English Premier League and the NBA generate
billions annually, and athletes are pivotal to this financial success. Their performances and
public appearances directly influence the profitability of their teams and leagues.
Conversely, critics argue that the disproportionate earnings of sports professionals are
fundamentally unfair, especially when discussing the salaries of individuals in essential services
like healthcare, education, and public safety. Doctors, teachers, and firefighters, for example,
work directly to the well-being and development of society, often under dangerous and stressful
conditions . This dispute can be understood as a potential misestimation of societal values,
where entertainment is rewarded more highly than really valuable services.
In conclusion, while the high earnings of successful sports professionals can be justified by the
revenue they generate and the sacrifices they make, it is also necessary to acknowledge the
societal value of other professions. A more balanced salary across different fields could better
translate that various professions make to society.
In my opinion, people who are learning new languages do this not to introduce a particular
language to their culture. They are doing this for some different reasons, for example: to
increase their knowledge ,or they are planning to live in that country, maybe they just love this
language.
However this fear does not come out of nowhere. It is true that the disproportion of power
throughout history changed, languages have arisen, shifted ,and died out. Moreover some of the
most used language in the ancient world, such Latin, have disappeared. However they are
numerous examples of preserving their language, culture and traditions, such as
Irish,Scottish,some African languages.
Task2
Traveling is one of most popular hobbies nowadays,so there are a lot of nuances that can be
discussed. One of them is debate about whether visitors to other countries should follow local
customs and behavior or if host countries should adapt cultural differences is multifaceted and
nuanced.
Proponents of the view that visitors should follow local customs argue that doing this
demonstrates respect for the host country's culture and traditions. This action shows the
importance of culture and the value of pushing yourself in the local way of life. By sticking to
local customs, visitors can raise good relationships , reduce potential misunderstandings, and
show appreciation for the host country’s traditions . For instance, in many Asian cultures, it is
customary to remove shoes before entering a home. Ignoring such a practice might be seen as
disrespectful. Adapting to local norms can also reinforce the travel experience, allowing visitors
to gain a deeper understanding of the culture they are exploring.
On the other hand, those who believe host countries should welcome cultural differences argue
that the world is increasingly connected to each other , and including variety is essential. They
believe that cultural exchange benefits both visitors and hosts by educating understanding and
respect. Expecting visitors to fully adapt to local customs might be unrealistic. For example,
cities like New York and London are known for their multiculturalism, where a variety of cultural
practices coexist .
In my opinion, a balanced approach is the best. Visitors should try to understand and respect
local customs, while host countries should also be open to cultural differences. This mutual
respect can lead to positive exchanges and better harmony. For example, tourists visiting
conservative countries should dress modestly to show respect, but locals should also be patient
and understanding of cultural practices that are different from their own.
In conclusion, both sides have valid points. The best approach is for visitors and hosts to
respect and be open to each other’s cultures. This respect makes travel more enjoyable and
helps build understanding and unity around the world.

The diagram describes in detail the process of silkworm transformation from egg to fully
mature adulthood, and production of silk clothes from them.
Plaintly first two stages take place entirely on the ground. Then comes the third and fourth
stages,in which mulberry leaf transforms into silk thread on the third stage, and cocoon on the
fourth stage. The fourth stage is mainly important for producing a silk cloth .
The life cycle of the silkworm includes five stages ,with duration 8-10 weeks. The longest stage
is second one, in which transformation period continues up to 4-6 weeks. The whole form of
mulberry leaf changes into silk thread with larva and then becomes a cocoon in 3-8 days. After
16 days the moth comes out of cocoon, whist means that the one life cycle finished.
The production of silk cloth includes 5 stages:selection, boiling ,unwinding ,twisting and weaving.
Task2
In recent years, advancements in technology have revolutionized how people shop and interact
with businesses. From my estimation, these changes have had a big impact on consumers'
lives.
Firstly, online shopping platforms and mobile apps have made shopping much easier.
Consumers can now browse and buy products from home, without needing to visit stores. This
convenience saves so much time and is enjoyable for many people.Additionally, technology has
given consumers more choices and better information. Online reviews, price comparisons, and
product descriptions help shoppers make smart decisions that match their preferences.
However, despite these benefits, there are some challenges. Issues like protecting personal
information and ensuring everyone has access to technology need careful attention. The
platform needs personal information from their consumers such as:information in id card, debit
card information, phone number, address. This information can be stolen by hackers groups or
scammers ,
In conclusion, while some may argue that traditional shopping still has its place, the
convenience and variety that new technologies bring have greatly improved consumers' lives.
Although there are some safety issues present, online shopping continues to be a better
alternative to traditional shopping

The first chart illustrates the alteration in the number of marriages and divorces in the USA over
a 30-year period from 1970 to 2000. The second chart demonstrates the proportion of American
adults’ marital statuses in 1970 and 2000.
Generally, the numbers of marriages are higher than the divorces rates over a 30-year period.
Additionally , in 1970 and 2000, the number of married people was more than 50 percent and
was the maximum indicator on the chart. Although , during the first 10 years, the number of
marriages remained constant at 2.5 billion, it decreased slightly from 1990 to 2000.
Whereas, divorce rates have increased by almost half a million in 10 years. However, it declined
a little in the last over 10-year period. Percentage of never married, widowed and divorced did
not exceed 20 percent in two years. Nevertheless, The lowest of these three statuses is
divorced and conquers less than 10 percent. The number of widows is also the same even
though divorce was very low in 1970.
Task2
The debate between people who prefer stability and those who like change shows different
ways of living and working. Each view has its benefits and drawbacks, suiting different
personalities. This essay will explore positive and negative aspects of both sides constructively .
Many people feel comfortable with routine and predictability. Doing the same things every day
can make them very good at their jobs, leading to efficiency and expertise. For example, an
employee who has stayed in the same role for many years can become highly skilled, helping
their company a lot. Stability also brings a sense of security, reducing stress and anxiety. Those
who prefer this approach believe that sticking to what they know helps them build a strong
foundation in life and work.
However, avoiding change can lead to stagnation. In a fast-changing world, people who resist
change might misss opportunities for growth and improvement. For example, companies that
don’t adopt new technologies can quickly fall behind. On a personal level, people who avoid
change may not be ready for unexpected events and lack the flexibility needed to handle
challenges.
On the other hand, people who ser change as a good thing believe it leads to growth and
progress .Changes bring new experiences and learning opportunities. For instance, someone
who changes jobs often can gain a variety of skills and perspectives, making them more
adaptable. Change can also make life more exciting, breaking routine and sparking creativity.
Society often advances because people are willing to challenge norms and seek better ways of
doing things.
In my opinion, a balance between stability and change is best. Stability provides a strong base,
but being open to change is also important. Growth, both personal and professional, often
requires trying new things and stepping out of comfort zones. Finding a balance allows people
to enjoy the benefits of both stability and change, leading to a fulfilling and resilient life.

The line graph shows the percentage change in taxation and available credit from 1990 to
2010.The bar chart, however, shows the changes in average consumer spending in the UK from
1990 to 2010 with 5-year intervals.
The overall relationship between the availability of credit and consumer spending shows that
they are directly proportional . When the availability of credit increases, levels of consumer
spending also rise. The relationship between taxation and consumer spending indicates an
inverse trend. When the rate of taxation increases, consumer spending tends to decrease.
In more detail, from 1990 to 2005, the available credit increased from 10% to 50%. During this
period, consumer spending on food rose from 1.5 to 4, household appliances from 1 to 3, and
clothing from 0.5 to 2. This trend continued until 2010, with available credit keeping high at
around 50%, indicating a strong positive correlation between credit availability and consumer
spending.
In fact , from 1990 to 2010, the taxation rate decreased from 30% to -10%. During periods of
lower taxation, consumer spending increased significantly. For example, from 1995 to 2000, as
taxation decreased from 20% to 10%, spending on food increased from 2 to 3.5, household
appliances from 1.5 to 2.5, and clothing from 1 to 1.8. The diagram shows that lower taxation
rates are associated with higher levels of consumer spending.

The table shows the percentage of national consumer expenditure by category in five different
countries in 2002. The categories are Food/Drinks/Tobacco, Clothing/Footwear, and
Leisure/Education.
As it can be noticed ,Turkey had the highest spendings in both Food/Drinks/Tobacco and
Leisure/Education, while Italy spent the most on Clothing/Footwear. Sweden had the lowest
expenditure on Food/Drinks/Tobacco and Clothing/Footwear.
When it comes to Clothing/Footwear, Italy led with 9.00% of its consumer expenditure. Sweden
had the lowest spending in this category at 5.40%. Spain, Turkey, and Ireland’s expenditures
were 6.51%, 6.63%, and 6.43%, respectively.
In the Leisure/Education category, Turkey again had the highest expenditure at 4.35%, followed
by Sweden at 3.22%. Ireland and Spain had the lowest expenditures in this category, with
2.21% and 1.98%, respectively. Italy’s spending on Leisure/Education stood at 3.20%.
Many people became successful in their careers only by using their talents and
underestimating the power of hard work. There are great examples in our history.Powerful
leaders lose all their majesty, relying only on their personal talents and experience ,and
undervaluing hard working skills.
On the other side some highly respected individuals achieved their success only by surpassing
their limits and being hustled .Kobe Bryant is a great example of hard work and dedication. At
the young age nobody believed in him, moreover he wasn’t very lucky to gain any talent at
all.Nevertheless, he was top 2 player of all time in NBA history.
From my point of view ,relying only on talent is a wrong strategy.Person can be gifted with
talent, without even knowing it .Although being a hardworking person gives you more profitable
options. Talent should be combined with hardwork and dedication,if you want to achieve really
great results and write your name in history .

When it comes to types of dance classes under 11 and 11-16 age groups reversed
preferences. In age groups under 11 the most preferable style is Ballet, however in age group

communicates how the proportion of the film market represented by three categories has
changed.
As an initial overview, all costs of the three various ways of watching movies marginally
increased over a six year period, moreover downloading movies had become the most popular
method by 2011.
In terms of cost, cinema tickets were the most expensive ,which catapulted from 9 to about 14
dollars per ticket by 2011.Similarly the price of a DVD slightly increased from 6 to 8 dollars per
ticket. In 2005 the prices of legal ways of watching movies were higher than DVD prices, about 7
dollars per ticket, then it significantly dropped to 3 dollars per ticket and became the cheapest
option to watch movies. However by 2011 the prices had climbed again to 9 dollars.
An analysis of pie charts, discloses how the popularity of online watching rocketed from 5
percent to more than a half ,approximately 56 percent.During the same juncture, renting DVD
and going to the cinema had the opposite success.Renting a DVD decreased from 59 percent to
slightly above quarter, while trips to the cinema decreased by two times and become the most
indomitable option on the market.

Madrid, Tokyo, Frankfurt, and London over two periods (1990-1995 and 1996-2002) compared
to the baseline year of 1989.
Overall, the chart shows a general recovery in house prices in most cities between the two
periods, except for Tokyo, which continued to struggle with declining prices.
From 1990 to 1995, New York and Tokyo experienced declines in house prices, with Tokyo
seeing the most significant drop at approximately -7%. Conversely, Madrid and Frankfurt had
minor increases, both around 1-2%. London, however, saw a notable decrease of about 5%.
In the subsequent period from 1996 to 2002, house prices in all cities except Tokyo increased.
London experienced the most substantial growth, reaching nearly 12%. Madrid continued to see
a rise of around 4%, and New York rebounded with a 5% increase. Frankfurt remained relatively
stable with a slight increase, while Tokyo's house prices continued to decline, albeit at a slower
rate.

In modern society, individuals spend a significant portion of their adult lives at work, making job
satisfaction a crucial element of overall wellbeing. Job satisfaction not only impacts an
individual's happiness and productivity but also influences their mental and physical health. As
such, understanding the factors that contribute to job satisfaction and evaluating the realism of
achieving this satisfaction for all workers is essential. This essay explores these aspects,
shedding light on the challenges involved.
Several factors contribute to job satisfaction, ranging from noticiable benefits to more abstract
elements. Compensation and benefits, such as salary, health insurance, and retirement plans,
are fundamental in ensuring employees feel valued and secure. However, beyond financial
aspects, work-life balance, job security, opportunities for growth, and a positive work
environment also play vital roles. These factors collectively contribute to a sense of
contentment, reinforcing overall job satisfaction.
One of the primary factors influencing job satisfaction is the work environment. A supportive and
positive work environment, characterized by respectful communication, collaboration, and
recognition, significantly boosts morale and satisfaction. For instance, employees who enjoy
good relationships with colleagues and feel appreciated for their contributions are more likely to
be satisfied with their jobs. Additionally, job autonomy and the ability to influence work
processes motivates employees, fostering a sense of control and satisfaction.
While understanding the contributing factors is essential, it is also crucial to evaluate how
realistic it is to expect job satisfaction for all workers. The diverse nature of the workforce, with
varying needs and preferences, makes it challenging to achieve universal job satisfaction.
Economic conditions and industry-specific challenges further complicate this goal. For example,
during economic downturns, job security becomes a significant concern, potentially eliminating
other factors. According to that , while striving for job satisfaction is important, it is equally vital
to acknowledge and address the complexities and limitations in achieving this ideal for every
worker.

The analysis of the average marriage age in 5 countries revealed that in the USA and the UK
youngsters suggest that 18 is the appropriate age. The same trend is observed in Mexico and
Egypt, average age is more or less 16. Japanese citizens had a specific opinion on this debate,
the preferred age is 23.
When it comes to voting, Japan took first place with an average age of 20. In second place is
the USA, where youngsters can participate in voting from the age of 18. After comes Egypt
where the young generation votes at the age of 17. In the last place are the UK and Mexico,
where voting can be accepted from the age of 16.
The last group of the survey is criminal responsibility, where can be seen some interesting
differences. In the USA youngsters start to be responsible for criminal activity from the age of
12. At the same juncture, Egypt citizens had a similar opinion, criminal responsibility starts from
the age of 13. In the UK and Mexico, the average age for criminal responsibility is 15. Japan still
suggests the highest age, criminal responsibility there starts from age of 20.

There is an ongoing debate about the primary role of universities. Some argue that universities
should focus on equipping graduates with practical skills and knowledge for the workplace,
while others believe that universities should prioritize providing knowledge for its own sake .
This essay will explore aspects of both sides constructively .
On one hand, universities have a responsibility to prepare students for the workforce. As the job
market becomes increasingly competitive, employers often seek graduates who possess not
only theoretical knowledge but also practical skills relevant to their fields. For instance, courses
that include internships, hands-on projects, and industry collaborations can enhance students’
employability. Such practical experience helps students transition smoothly from academic
settings to professional environments and meet the specific needs of employers.
On the other side , the pursuit of knowledge for its own sake should not be undervalued.
Universities have traditionally been centers of learning and intellectual exploration. They should
encourage students to engage deeply with their chosen subjects, fostering critical thinking,
creativity, and a lifelong love of learning. This broader educational approach cultivates
well-rounded individuals who can adapt to various career paths and contribute to society in
diverse ways.
In conclusion, the main function of a university should be to provide a balanced education that
integrates practical skills with a solid academic foundation. This approach ensures that
graduates are well-prepared for their careers while also nurturing their intellectual curiosity and
personal growth. By achieving this balance, universities can fulfill their role in both the
professional and personal development of their students.
The pie charts reveal data for ways of producing electricity in Australia and France comparing
1980’s and 2000’s.
As an initial overview, the total production increased in both regions .In Australia the total
manufacture increased from 100 to 170 units in two decades. In France during the same period,
overall production was doubled and reached 180 units.
In Australia, coal was the dominant source of electricity in both years. In 1980, coal accounted
for a half of the total 100 units produced, while oil and natural gas each contributed 20 percent ,
and hydropower made up the remaining one tenth of total . By 2000, electricity production in
Australia had increased to 170 units, with coal’s share rising significantly to 130 units, or about
76%. The contributions from oil and hydro power dropped to just 2 units each, whereas natural
gas increased to 36 units. Notably, nuclear power was not used in Australia during either period.
In contrast, France had a more diverse energy mix in 1980, with natural gas and coal each
providing one fourth of the total 90 units of electricity produced. Nuclear power, which was
relatively minor at 15 units, saw a dramatic increase by 2000. By then, nuclear power accounted
for 126 out of 180 units produced, representing 70% of France’s electricity production. The
contributions from coal and oil remained stable at 25 units each, while natural gas and hydro
power decreased to just 2 units each.

The first graph interpreted overall number of visitors to Ashdown museum ,before and after
refurbishment.And the pie charts
As an initial overview, the amount of visitors increased significantly, moreover people who were
very satisfied with museum increased more than two times. The amount of Dissatisfied people
dramatically dropped more than two times.
Overall, survey results show that refurbishment attempts were successful, since the number of
visitors increased with the increased satisfaction levels.
As it can be noticed , the attempt of refurbishment created a positive impact on museum .
Comparing these two years , the total number of visitors changed in a positive way, it
significantly increased from 74 thousands to 92 thousands.
An analysis of pie charts , reveals differences in numbers of satisfaction rate before and after
the refurbishment.Comparing these two charts,it is clear that the amount of people who stayed
very satisfied rocketed more than 2 times ; moreover the number of just satisfied people
increased ten percent.

The pie chart shows the main reasons for land degradation around the world in the 1990s, while
the table breaks down how these factors affected North America, Europe, and Oceania.
Overall, over-grazing, deforestation, and over-cultivation were the biggest causes of land
degradation. Among the regions, Europe experienced the most damage, followed by Oceania
and then North America.
Looking at the specific causes, over-grazing was the top contributor, making up 35 percent of
global land degradation. Oceania was the hardest hit by over-grazing, with 11.3 percent of its
land affected, while North America saw the least impact at 1.5 percent. Deforestation caused 30
percent of the degradation, with Europe being the most affected region at 9.8 percent. On the
other hand, North America only had 0.2 percent of its land damaged by deforestation.
Over-cultivation caused 28 percent of global land degradation. Europe was the most impacted
by this, with 7.7 percent of its land affected, while Oceania did not experience any damage from
over-cultivation. In total, Europe had the highest percentage of land degradation at 23 percent,
mainly due to deforestation and over-cultivation. Oceania followed with 13 percent, mostly due
to over-grazing, while North America had the lowest level of damage at 5 percent, with
over-cultivation being the main cause.
Task2
The debate over whether parents or schools should teach children how to be good members of
society is a significant one. Some believe that parents are the best teachers for this role, while
others think schools are better suited. This essay will discuss both perspectives and offer my
own view.
Those who support parents argue that they have the most influence on their children’s early
development. Parents can teach important values like respect, responsibility, and kindness
through everyday actions and conversations. Because they know their children well, parents
can give personalized advice and support that fits each child’s needs.
On the other hand, supporters of schools believe that educational institutions provide a more
structured way to teach societal values. Schools offer a setting where children interact with
peers from diverse backgrounds, helping them understand and accept different viewpoints. In
schools, children learn about teamwork, fairness, and civic duty through lessons and activities.
Teachers, who are trained to handle these topics, can provide consistent and impartial
guidance.
In my opinion, both parents and schools are important in teaching children how to be good
members of society. Parents build the foundation of values at home, while schools expand on
these values by exposing children to a wider range of experiences and perspectives. Combining
efforts from both parents and schools can offer a well-rounded approach, helping children
develop into responsible and engaged members of society.

The line graph illustrates the trends in Scotland’s population metrics—namely birth rate,
population growth rate, and death rate—over the period from 1940 to 2020.
Overall, the data highlights a general decline in both the birth rate and population growth rate,
alongside an initially decreasing but later rising death rate. The birth rate's fluctuations and the
death rate’s late rise illustrates changes in demographic trends and health conditions over the
80-year period.
Initially, all three metrics were relatively high in 1940. The birth rate was at its peak then, and it
exhibited a fluctuation throughout the subsequent decades. There were notable spikes around
1950 and 1970, followed by a significant decline after. Similarly, the population growth rate
experienced an overall downward trend, despite a brief rise between 1950 and 1960. After this
period of increase, the rate consistently fell, eventually reaching 0% after 2000.
In contrast, the death rate showed a more complex situation. It decreased substantially from
1.5% in 1940 to just below 0.5% by 1960. This decline was followed by a period of relative
stability with minor fluctuations. However, from around 2010 onwards, the death rate began to
rise again.

1.The bar chart displays the percentage of people over the age of sixty-five in 2000 and the
projected percentage for 2030 across seven different countries.
2. Korea, Mexico, and Turkey, all developing or newly industrialized countries, are expected to
experience significant increases in the proportion of their elderly populations.
3. The largest increase in the elderly population is anticipated in Korea, where the proportion of
pensioners is expected to rise from 10 percent to 35 percent.
4. Although these changes will occur from a relatively low base, the predicted proportion of
elderly residents in these countries will remain lower than that expected in developed
economies.

The figure shows the distribution of the population by gender and age, with the highest
percentage of both men and women in the 55 to 59 age group, which comprises roughly five
percent of the population. The next highest proportions are in the 30 to 34 and 35 to 39 age
groups. Interestingly, the proportion of males and females is roughly equal until the age of
fifty-nine, after which women make up a higher percentage of the elderly population, particularly
evident in those aged eighty. For instance, over four percent of women fall into this category,
compared to only two percent of men.
The figure shows the distribution of the population in terms of gender and age. The
age group with the highest percentage of both men and women is 55 to 59. Around
5 percent of the population is in this group. The age groups with the next highest
proportion are 30 to 34 and 35 to 39. It is crucial to note that until the age of 59,
the ratio of males to females is approximately equal. However, thereafter, women
constitute a large percentage of the elderly and the trend is particularly visible
among people aged eighty. Over 4 percent of females are in this category, whereas
only 2 percent of men have reached this age.
Due to the rise in numbers of retired people , there are some significant consequences in the
modern world.Healthcare industry and pension
Task2
People are living longer and staying healthy after the age of sixty-five, which means they can
continue to be active and contribute to society. This is a great opportunity for communities to
benefit from the skills and knowledge of older adults. In this essay, I will discuss how society can
gain from the experience and participation of older people.
First, older adults have gained a lot of knowledge and experience throughout their lives. This
can be very helpful when they mentor or guide younger people. For example, a retired teacher
or doctor can share their knowledge with younger professionals, helping them learn and
improve. By using the wisdom of older adults, society can make sure that important skills and
lessons are passed on to the next generation.
Second, older people often have more free time, which allows them to volunteer in their
communities. Many seniors get involved in helping others through charity work, community
service, or supporting those in need. This not only helps to solve problems in the community but
also gives older people a sense of purpose. For instance, a retired teacher volunteering to tutor
children can help improve their education and make the community stronger.
In conclusion, as people live longer and stay healthier, society can greatly benefit from their
contributions. using their knowledge, encouraging them to volunteer, and involving them in
community activities, society can make sure that older adults remain active and important
members of the community.
In brief ,starting to use adult knowledge and experience can help the younger generation
smoothly become better in their industry. Moreover encouraging retired professionals to
volunteer and involving them into community activities will create very strong community
relationships.
Finish:
Due to the rise in numbers of retired people , there are some significant consequences in the
modern world, especially in areas such as: healthcare industry and pension funds. As more
people grow older, governments need to make important changes to address the challenges
this creates. This essay will explore major issues of the current problems.
One major challenge is in healthcare. Older people generally need more medical care, which
increases demand on healthcare systems. This can lead to higher costs and a shortage of
healthcare workers. To manage this, healthcare reforms are necessary to expand services and
ensure quality care for everyone.
Considering that older individuals require more complex medical care, increase in elderly
population will result in higher demand for healthcare services. Consequently, healthcare
systems should undergo important changes to keep up with this demand. One of the
important consequences is a need of more nurses in elderly homes. The latter will create
intergenerational tensions, like tax burdens and resource allocation.
Another important area is pensions. As more people retire and fewer people are working,
pension funds can come under financial pressure. To keep these systems sustainable,
governments might need to raise the retirement age or adjust how pensions are funded.
In conclusion, population aging requires significant changes in healthcare and pensions. By
addressing these areas, society can better support both older and younger generations.
Tsak 2
Technology has greatly changed how people interact and build relationships. With the rise of
digital tools, staying connected with others has become easier, even over long distances.
However, these changes have also affected the quality of relationships. This essay will explore
how technology has influenced relationships and whether this change is good or bad.
One major way technology has impacted relationships is by making communication more
accessible. Social media, messaging apps, and video calls now allow people to stay in touch no
matter where they are. This has made it easier to keep relationships strong, even if people are
far apart, and has also helped create new connections based on common interests. For
instance, many people have reconnected with old friends through platforms like Instagram,
which has expanded their social circles beyond their local area.
However, relying on digital communication has also led to a decrease in the depth of
relationships. While technology allows people to stay in contact more often, it sometimes
replaces face-to-face conversations with quick interactions. Many people now choose texting or
social media over having real conversations in person, which can weaken emotional
connections. Additionally, the constant use of phones and other devices can destroy
communication, making people feel disconnected even when they are physically together.
In conclusion, technology has both helped and hurt the way people interact and form
relationships. While it has made communication easier, it has also led to a decline in the quality
of personal interactions. It is important for people to find a balance between using technology to
stay connected and keeping their relationships deep and meaningful.
The survey ,which contains two tables reveal data for comparison of youngsters career
aspirations choice in 1980 and 2010.
As an initial overview, some of professions dealt with decrease or increase of their popularity
Firstly, looking at profession that dealt with significant decrease in their popularity .Teachers
popularity dropped more than a half (approximately 8 percent) over 3 decades , while
popularity of other professions such as business/ woman, doctors and vet slightly decreased
on 1-2 percents respectively.
When it comes to professions that gained popularity, the young generation opt to become sports
stars more than other professions in survey. The percentage of sport star rocketed from 5 to 13
percent, while the proportion of layer and astronaut increased on 2 and 5 percent respectively.
Professions such as: scientists, bankers and archaeologists lost their position and disappeared
from top list. During the same juncture ,youngsters preferred to choose more innovative and
modern professions .Actors ,pop singers and chefs boosted their popularity though young
generation and broke into tir-list with 12,11 and 5 percent constructively.

The three pie charts illustrate the distribution of every year’s school’s expenses by particular
UK school during 3 decades.
Overall, the data indicates a strong focus on teachers' salaries over the 30 years, while
spending on other areas, such as furniture and equipment, fluctuated considerably.
Initially the percentage of teacher’s salaries firstly increased to a half , and then slightly
decreased to 45 percent of all spendings.Meanwhile the proportion of other worker’s salaries
started annually decrease from 28 percent in 1981 to 15 percent in 2001
During 1981-1991 year period spendings on furniture and equipment fell 3 times and then
rocketed to 23 percent of all spendings in 2001. At the same juncture expenditure on resources
such as books slightly popped up by approximately 5 percent in 1991 and then significantly
dropped to 9 percent by 2001.
Between 1981 and 1991, furniture and equipment expenses shrank thrice, followed by a
considerable increase to 23 percent in 2001.

The diagrams below illustrate the various stages and equipment involved in making cement, as
well as the process of using cement to create concrete for construction.
Overall, during the manufacturing process of cement, raw materials are crushed and then go
through different machinery before turning into cement and being bagged. However, the
production of concrete includes only one step in which four ingredients are mixed.
Cement production begins with limestone and clay being crushed to form a kind of powder. This
powder is then mixed before being heated in a rotating heater . At the fourth stage, the ground
is ready for packaging as cement.
The production of concrete, unlike that of cement, requires no complex machinery and is done
by pouring four different materials into a concrete mixer. Half of the mixture is made up of
gravel, and the other half includes 10% water, 15% cement, and 25% sand. All these materials
are mixed in a container that rotates clockwise in order to make concrete.

The table presents the results of a survey about people’s views on the coverage of celebrities in
the media.
The information in the table below outlines people’s opinions of celebrity news.
Overall, the table describes in percentage from where popularity comes for celebrities , who is
responsible for their success, and who gives them most of coverage .
Overall, the respondents think celebrities receive too much news coverage, and the news
organizations are behind that trend. Additionally, the most coverage inclines toward television
news.
A large majority, 85 percent, feel that celebrities receive too much news coverage, while only 6
percent believe they receive too little. Just 7 percent think the amount is right, and 2 percent
are unsure. When it comes to responsibility for this coverage, more than a half (approximately
56 percent) attribute it to news organizations, whereas 34 percent believe the public is
responsible. A smaller portion, 7 percent, think both play a role, and 2 percent are undecided.
Television news is identified by nearly 60 percent as the medium that provides the most
celebrity coverage. Internet news websites account for 15 percent, followed by newspapers at
12 percent . Radio news contributes only 5 percent, while 3 percent attribute coverage to other
sources, and 5 percent are uncertain.
Task2
Many people believe that media coverage of celebrities has a negative impact on children. I
agree with this opinion because children are easily influenced by what they see, and much of
the media portrays celebrities in ways that can be harmful. Although there are some positive
aspects, the negative influence seems to be stronger.
First, the media often highlights the luxurious lifestyles and physical appearances of celebrities.
Children who see this may feel pressured to look perfect or own expensive things. This can
make them believe that wealth and appearance are the most important goals in life, which can
lead to frustration and low self-esteem when they cannot achieve these unrealistic standards.
Second, the media frequently shows negative behavior from celebrities, such as drug use or
law-breaking. When children see this kind of behavior, they may think it is acceptable or without
serious consequences. This can lead them to make poor choices in their own lives, as they may
try to copy these actions without understanding the real-world risks involved.
In conclusion, while some celebrities do use their fame to promote positive causes, I believe
that the overall media coverage of celebrities has a harmful effect on children. The focus on
wealth, beauty, and bad behavior can mislead them about what is truly important. It is important
for parents and educators to guide children in how they understand what they see in the media.

Increasing the price of petrol is sometimes suggested as a way to reduce traffic and pollution.
While this idea might lower petrol use, I do not think it is the best solution. In this essay, I will
explain why I disagree and suggest other ways to solve these problems.
First, raising petrol prices might make some people drive less, but it would hurt low-income
families the most. Many people need their cars to go to work or run daily errands, and paying
more for petrol would make it harder for them to afford. It could also lead to higher prices for
goods and services since transportation costs would rise. In the end, this solution may create
more problems than it solves.
A better option would be to improve public transportation. Building better bus and train systems
would give people a cheaper and more convenient way to travel, which could lead to fewer cars
on the road. In addition, governments could encourage the use of electric cars by giving
financial incentives, helping to reduce pollution without making petrol more expensive.
In conclusion, while increasing petrol prices might reduce traffic and pollution a little, it is not the
best solution. Improving public transport and supporting the use of electric cars are better ways
to tackle these issues. These solutions are fairer and more effective, as they help reduce traffic
and pollution without putting too much financial pressure on people.

The line chart provides data about the numbers of goods transferred using road, water, rail and
pipeline in the UK from 1974 to 2002.
Overall, there were significant upward trends in the amount of goods transported using road,
water and pipeline, while the quantities of goods by rail saw a decrease trend and ended with a
marginal increase in 2002. The quantities of goods transported using roads witnessed the
highest amount compared to the pipeline which was the lowest.
Overall, all four modes of transport experienced an increase, although there were some
fluctuations during the period.
The goods traveled by road started at 70 million tonnes in 1974, then there was a fluctuation
period over the period, at which it reached just under 100 million tonnes in 2002. At the same
juncture , pipelines started at around 5 million tonnes in 1974 and gradually increased to just
over 20 million tonnes in 2002.
Looking further down, both water and rail modes had a close start at around 40 million tonnes in
1974 and remained steady in the next four years. However, both had a different trend starting
from 1978. Water increased by 20 million tonnes reaching 60 million from 1978 to 1982 and it
remained stable until 1990. Then it went down to about 50 million tonnes in 1998 and jumped to
around 63 million tonnes in 2002. In contrast, rail had fluctuations which considerably dropped
to around 25 million tonnes in 1994 and it rose to just above 40 million tonnes in 2002.
TASK 2
In recent years, many countries have witnessed a troubling trend: the average weight of their
populations is rising while overall health and fitness levels are declining. This essay will explore
the causes behind these issues and suggest potential solutions.
One of the primary causes of the increasing average weight is the shift in dietary habits. With
the rise of fast food and processed snacks, people are consuming more calories, fats, and
sugars than ever before. Another significant factor is the decrease in physical activity. The
modern lifestyle often involves long hours of sedentary work, such as sitting at a desk or
working on a computer.
To address these issues, several measures can be implemented. Firstly, increasing public
awareness about the importance of a balanced diet and regular exercise is crucial. Schools and
workplaces should also promote and provide facilities for exercise, such as gyms or sports
programs, to integrate physical activity into daily routines.Secondly, governments can play a role
by regulating food industries to ensure that healthier options are available and affordable. For
example, imposing taxes on sugary drinks and providing subsidies for fruits and vegetables
could make healthier food choices more accessible to the general population.
In conclusion, the rising average weight and decreasing health levels in many countries are
largely due to poor dietary choices and sedentary lifestyles. By raising awareness, promoting
physical activity, and implementing supportive policies, these issues can be mitigated, leading to
healthier communities.

The two maps show an island before and after the building of tourist facilities. Many changes
can be seen between the two pictures.
Overall, the island has been significantly reconstructed to accommodate tourism, with new
buildings and infrastructure increasing its functionality for visitors.
In the "before" picture, the island is mostly natural, with only a beach on the west side and some
trees across the land. There are no buildings or roads, and the island is surrounded by the sea.
The "after" picture shows that the island has changed into a tourist area , including two groups
of accommodations: one near the beach and another in the middle of the island , a restaurant
and a reception area in the center. Additionally a pier has been added on the south side for
boats to arrive. Paths connect the buildings, with walking paths leading to the rooms and a road
connecting the pier, reception, and restaurant.

Some experts think children should start learning a foreign language in primary school instead
of secondary school. While there are both good and bad sides to this, I believe that there are
more advantages than drawbacks.
The main benefit of learning a foreign language early is that young children are better at
learning new things. They can quickly pick up new words and sounds, making it easier for them
to learn a language. Starting early also gives them more time to practice and become fluent,
which can help them in the future with school and work.
However, there are some disadvantages. Primary school students already have many subjects
to learn, so adding a new language could be too much. Also, young children who are still
learning their native language might get confused when they have to learn two languages at the
same time.
In conclusion, even though there are some difficulties, I think the benefits of learning a foreign
language at a young age are much bigger. It helps children think better, speak better, and gives
them more opportunities in life.

You should spend about 40 minutes on this task.
In many countries today, if people want to find work, they have to move away from
their friends and their families.
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from own knowledge
or experience.
Benefits:
Advantage of becoming more mature, responsible individual
-Teach how to create your own budjet and how money is working
Dis
-not suitable for everyone
-Homesickness
In many countries, people often need to move away from their families and friends
to find work. This trend brings both benefits and challenges. In my opinion, the
benefits outweigh the disadvantages because working abroad usually gives
opportunities to earn more money and improve your hard and soft skills.
One of the key benefits of moving for work is the opportunity to become a more
responsible and mature individual. When living independently, people have to
manage their daily tasks, such as cooking, cleaning, and organizing their time.
Moreover, living away from family teaches important financial skills. Individuals
must create their own budget, learning how to manage money efficiently by
balancing rent, bills, and savings. These skills are crucial for long-term financial
stability and independence.
However, this development also has some disadvantages. Not everyone is suited to
living far from home, as it can be emotionally difficult. Many people experience
homesickness and struggle with the lack of social support they used to receive from
family and friends. This can lead to feelings of loneliness and stress. Furthermore,
the transition to independent living can be overwhelming for some, especially for
those who are not skilled at managing their lives on their own. This can negatively
impact their mental health and job performance.
In conclusion, while moving away from family for work can be challenging for some,
the personal growth, responsibility, and financial skills gained make it a valuable
experience. Therefore, the advantages generally outweigh the disadvantages.

The charts below show the percentages of men and women aged 60-64 in
employment in four countries in 1970 and 2000
Summaries the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make
comparison where relevant.
Starting from the first diagram, the biggest decline can be observed in Belgium with 60 percent
,while the smallest decline was in Japan, approximately 8 percent. Australia and Usa had a
similar number of proportions during this decline ,25 and 18 percent respectively.
In the second graph, which focuses on women, the employment rates are significantly lower
compared to men. Japan again had the highest employment rates for women, with a slight
decrease from 43% in 1970 to 40% in 2000. The USA followed, with a small increase from
36% in 1970 to 38% in 2000. Australia and Belgium both had much lower percentages, but
Australia saw a small increase from 18% to 19%, while Belgium dropped slightly from 8% to
7%.

The table below shows the number of temporary migrant worker in four countries
in 2003 and 2006 and the number of these workers per 1,000 people in these
countries in 2006.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make
comparisons where relevant.
Overall, all four countries experienced an increase in the number of migrant workers between
2003 and 2006. The United States had the highest number of migrant workers in both years,
while New Zealand had the fewest. However, New Zealand had the highest proportion of
migrant workers per 1,000 people in 2006, while the United States had the lowest.
In detail, the number of temporary migrant workers in Australia grew from 152,000 in 2003 to
219,000 in 2006, representing 10.7 migrant workers per 1,000 people. New Zealand saw an
increase from 65,000 to 87,000, with 21.1 migrants per 1,000 people, the highest ratio among
the four countries.
In the United Kingdom, migrant workers nearly doubled from 137,000 to 266,000, but this
accounted for only 4.4 migrants per 1,000 people in 2006. The United States had 577,000
workers in 2003 and 678,000 in 2006, but the per capita ratio was only 2.3 per 1,000 people, the
lowest of all.
Writing Task 2
You should spend about 40 minutes on this task.
Some people think young people should be required to have full time education
until they are at least 18 years old. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
The main reason to support full-time education until 18 is that it prepares young
people for their future careers. Most professional fields require a solid foundation in
subjects like mathematics, science, and language, which are typically completed by
the age of 18. Without these basic qualifications, young people may struggle to
find well-paying jobs or gain entry into higher education.
Moreover, staying in school until 18 allows the younger generation to develop soft
and hard skills . School provides a structured environment where students learn
important life skills like time management, teamwork, and problem-solving. These
skills are valuable not only for work but also for becoming responsible adults who
can support society.
However, there are some exceptions where full-time education may not be suitable.
For example, individuals with unique talents in sports or arts may need to dedicate
more time to developing their skills at an earlier age. Similarly, some young people
may face financial or family pressures that require them to start working earlier.the
best strategy in my opinion is to combine special circumstances and full time
education.Despite special circumstances, youngsters should have basic skills which
they can gain from full time education , that's why the mix of views is the best one.

The graph below shows the production levels of the main kinds of fuel in the UK
between 1981 and 2000.
Summarize the formation by selecting and reporting the main features and make
comparisons where relevant.
The graph illustrates the production levels of petroleum, coal, and natural
gas in the UK between 1981 and 2000.
Overall, petroleum was the dominant fuel source, while coal production
decreased, and natural gas production showed a significant increase over
the period. All components are measured in energy units, which
represent the energy from one million tonnes of oil.
Petroleum had the highest production levels in the given years. Starting
at around 100 energy units in 1981, it rose sharply and reached a peak of
approximately 140 units by 1986. However, after this peak, there was a
noticeable drop in production during the early 1990s, bringing it back to
around 100 units. By the end of the period, petroleum production had
recovered, finishing close to 140 units again.
Natural gas production remained low during the early years, fluctuating
around 40 units. However, after 1990, it experienced a huge rise, reaching
approximately 80 units by 2000. This significant increase contrasted with
the declining in coal production.

The chart shows the number of minutes people in the UK spent on three
types of phone calls from 1995 to 2002: local fixed-line, national and
international fixed-line, and mobile calls.
Overall, local calls were the most popular, peaking in 1999 and then going
down. National and international calls grew slowly, while mobile calls rose
quickly.
Overall, local calls were the most popular, peaking in 1999 before
declining. National and international calls experienced a gradual increase,
while mobile calls rose rapidly.
In 1995, local calls were around 72 billion minutes and went up to 90
billion by 1999. After that, they dropped back to 72 billion in 2002.
