Synthesis for 3 Day Seminar
1st Day
On the first day, we started the seminar with the preliminary activities (prayer, house
rules, introducing the guest speaker).
We started in session 2, in which the speaker discussed teachers' personal conduct and
professional competence: behavioral standards and practices (Professional Teachers in the
Philippines). This was followed by session 3, which discussed exploring a greater passion for
teaching and professionalism: Building a positive workplace culture and balancing performance
and fulfillment in the 21st century.
According to the reprint, “It is the teacher who makes the difference in the classroom.”
As teachers, we are the one who create a positive impact on our students. It is stated in DO. 42, s.
2017 (PPST), how important the role of a teacher is.
A short background about Digital citizenship and the difference between industrialization
4.0 and 5.0. It is also stated during the first day of the seminar the three most important things to
be taught the first week of school (discipline, procedure, and routines), Followed by
characteristics that describe effective global teachers, which involve (1) thinking and acting
logically and globally, (2) good management skills, (3) making content relevant and current, and
the 3Rs (responsive, relevance, resilience). (4) demonstrating sound decision-making and
creative thinking, (5) using appropriate technology in teaching, (6) displaying content mastery,
(7) teaching mastery of learning, (8) implementing sequential and well-organized lessons, and
(9) bringing the world into the classroom, school, and community.
It also discussed how to be a teacher in the 21st-century world, wherein there are digital
gurus, adaptive learning facilitators, champion collaborators, innovative thinkers, influencers,
and a lifelong learner. Additionally, we learned from the discussion the integration of 21st-
century skills in the learning content and teaching-learning process; it involves the six core
critical thinking skills (creative thinking, problem-solving, analysis, interpreting, evaluating, and
reasoning).
The qualities, traits, and mindset of the kind of teachers that students need in a 21st-
century classroom have been discussed. A teacher should be confident and have good
communication skills, an educator with a heart that is “strict” and not cruel, a master of content,
and an innovative and creative teacher. Critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and
creativity are the 4Cs of 21st-century teachers' most important required skills (key soft skills).
Before we proceeded to Session 4, we learned how to nurture the institutions’ DNA: Fostering a
positive workplace culture.
Day 2
On the second day, we started the seminar with the preliminary activities (prayer, and
welcoming the guest speaker).
Session 4 talks about Assessing Instructional Delivery and Classroom Management
Effectiveness: Making a significant difference as a learning designer, facilitator, and assessor.
Session 5 was the tactical tools and innovative, hands-on practices for effective content
delivery: strategies that meet the needs and preferences of diverse learners (multimodal
learning). Under this, hands-on activities are think-pair share, debate, case-based learning,
interactive brainstorming, buzz sessions, multimedia research projects, exit slips, charades,
Pictionary, and gamification. We also learned the difference between yesteryear teachers and
modern teachers and the teaching method involving effective and efficient teachers.
The VARK MODEL (visual, auditory, reading/writing, and kinesthetic learner). Then, the
tactical tools, hands-on practices, and strategies teachers used for VARK learners were also
discussed. Integration of technologies was introduced by an IT expert to help us know more, and
we can use it in our learning plan.
Session 6 is about adopting a unified learning plan format: preparing lessons using the
four–process integration pedagogy in the teaching and learning process wherein sir Bong
manages to share his knowledge and feedback on how we are going to improve our learning plan
with a collaborative interaction with us, the participants.
Day 3
On the last day of the seminar, Ma’am Rafaela shared her learning plan in Mathematics
10, Sir Kadatuan in Science 8, and lastly, Ma’am Berdin in TLE 9. The whole day activity was
indeed a wonderful and informative day since we learned a lot about how to improve our
learning plan. And how we can relate it to real-life situations and integration of different values.
A quote from Quote Worthy says that All things are difficult before they become easy!
Have patience.
Thank you!
