Course Description SC30116
Course Description
This course provides an in-depth study of fundamental physics concepts, focusing on forces,
energy, wave behavior, electromagnetism, and their practical applications. Students will
analyze and interpret data to understand the relationship between speed, time, and
acceleration, and calculate the resultant forces acting on objects. Emphasis will be placed on
Newton's laws of motion, vector integration, and the effects of gravitational and magnetic
forces. Through hands-on activities, students will explore various types of motion, including
linear, projectile, circular, and vibrational, to understand the influence of forces on different
trajectories.
In the study of electromagnetism, students will observe and measure magnetic fields
produced by electric currents, investigate the forces acting on charged particles, and gain
insight into how motors function. The course also introduces electromotive force (EMF),
alternative energy sources, and the principles of nuclear energy, with discussions on fission,
fusion, and the conversion of energy into electricity.
The wave section delves into the behaviors of light and sound waves, including reflection,
refraction, diffraction, and resonance. Students will analyze sound intensity, frequency, and
its effects on human hearing, alongside exploring practical applications of sound waves in
everyday life. The course further covers color perception, color mixing, and visual
impairments like color blindness, concluding with a study of electromagnetic waves and their
role in communication technologies.
Students will enhance their analytical, experimental, and problem-solving skills through
various activities, including data interpretation, circuit building, graphing, and project-based
learning. By the end of the course, students will be prepared to apply scientific principles to
real-world scenarios, recognizing the role of physics in technology, safety, and innovation.
