ASSIGNMENT 2 (To be submitted on 19th/11/2024)
1. Due to a system crash, the probability that a computer gets a virus in a certain company is
30%. An IT investigator collected 6 computers for his investigation study.
i. Calculate standard deviation of the distribution.
ii. Find the probability that at least 2 computers are affected.
2. The values of Body temperature measurement in healthy adult’s population approximately
follow a normal distribution with a mean of 370C and a standard deviation of 0.606 (0C). By
rounding your Z- calculated value to the nearest two decimal places: -
i. Find and interpret the probability that a healthy adult will have a body temperature
measurement above 38 0C.
ii. Find and interpret the probability that a healthy adult will have a body temperature
measurement between 36 0C and 38 0C.
3. A drug supposed to have some effect on weight was injected into a random sample of 10
rabbits. The weights before and after injecting drugs of these rabbits are given below. Test
whether the supposition could be true. (α=5%)
Weight before: 20, 30, 32, 26, 25, 35, 34, 20, 24, 24
Weight after: 35, 20, 29, 35, 40, 29, 29, 38, 32, 34.
4. 200 individuals are classified according to their eye colour and hair colour as given below.
Test at 5% level of significance whether eye colour and hair colour are independent.
