1. If the independent probabilities that three people A, B and C will be alive in 30 years’ time are
0.4, 0.3, 0.2 respectively, calculate the probability that in 30 years’ time,

a) all will be alive


b) none will be alive
c) only one will be alive
d) more than one will be alive

2. The probability that an individual will get HIV/AIDS in a given country is 0.003. In a sample
study among 10000 individuals:

i. Calculate and interpret the mean value of the distribution.


ii. Find the probability that at most 1 person is infected.

3. Due to a system crash, the probability that a computer gets a virus in a certain company is 30%.
An IT investigator collected 6 computers for his investigation study.
i. Calculate standard deviation of the distribution.
ii. Find the probability that at least 2 computers are affected.
