Classroom management is defined as a set of methods used by the teacher in the classroom,

with the aim of keeping it organized, controlling student behavior, and improving their
academic achievement. The importance of effective classroom management is that it is
necessary to create an appropriate educational environment for students, and a suitable
work environment for the teacher; as the lack of it causes chaos and confusion in the
classroom, [1] and there are many criteria on which the successful classroom management
of the teacher depends, [2] [3] including the following: [4] [5]

Effective time management

There is a direct relationship between the time allocated for teaching and the improvement
of the students’ academic level; the more this time, the higher the students’ educational
level. Therefore, the teacher must manage the limited time in the classroom well and avoid
wasting it when moving from one topic to another in the lesson. He must also organize time
in a way that takes into account other activities that take place in the classroom other than
the learning process, such as recording students’ attendance, asking students to go to the
bathroom, announcements, holding class meetings, and other

appropriate lesson plans

The importance of the lesson plan is that it ensures that the curriculum is fully covered, in
addition to ensuring that the students understand and comprehend the ideas and concepts
that have been covered. To achieve these goals, there are a number of things that the
teacher must take into consideration when developing lesson plans, the most important of
which is focusing on making the students able to ask correct questions at the end of the
lesson, and making them able to answer them as well. In addition, when developing the
lesson plan, the teacher must ensure that it is compatible with the various teaching methods
through which the students are taught, in addition to its compatibility with the interests and
needs of the students.

Establish positive relationships with students

When a teacher is interested in establishing positive relationships with students, this is
reflected positively on their achievement in school and on the effectiveness of his classroom
management, because such relationships enhance students’ sense of belonging to the
school, encourage them to cooperate, and create an educational environment that
resembles a family in its atmosphere, based on understanding and trust, and in which
students do not fear failure.

Praise the students

One of the most important benefits of praising students is motivating them to achieve and
raise their academic level. There is research conducted on praising students, and the results
showed that it is more effective than material rewards. When a teacher uses praise in the
classroom to have a positive impact on students, and thus contribute to effective classroom
management, there are a number of things that he must take into consideration, including:
not limiting praise to achievements only, but also including the effort made by students, in
addition to providing students with feedback that includes information about their
performance, and ensuring that the praise directed to students is clear in the way it is
expressed, diverse, and creative in nature

Define rules of conduct for students

These rules include the consequences of behaviors or attitudes that hinder the learning
process in the classroom. Their importance in the context of classroom management is that
they teach students how to behave properly in the classroom. The teacher must focus in
these rules on encouraging positive behavior among students, encouraging them to be
respectful, and explaining to them the most appropriate and correct way to communicate in
the classroom, which does not fall under negative behaviors that have certain
consequences.Other criteria for successful classroom management for the teacher
We mention some of them:
Encourage questioning: Giving students the opportunity to ask questions is an opportunity
to engage them in the learning process, to encourage discussion, and to avoid distraction
and boredom.

Organizing group projects: To manage the classroom effectively, the teacher must set
lessons and tasks that are intended for students to work together, in order to develop their
personalities, teach them cooperation, mutual respect, and responsibility.

Feedback from students: Feedback from students helps the teacher know the most
appropriate and suitable teaching methods for them. One way to obtain this is to ask them
questions to find out their opinion about tests and assignments, and to distribute opinion
polls.

Set clear expectations: Tell students these expectations at the beginning of the school year,
so they know the right way to behave in class.

Classroom organization: Organizing the classroom creates a routine that helps students stay
organized and committed in class, which has a positive impact on their performance and
classroom management.

Communicating with parents: The teacher should communicate with the students’ parents
to inform them of the positive things that concern their children. This enhances trust
between the teacher and his students.
