Unit 3: Great Jobs

My hero : A person you respect
In the following lines, I will talk about my hero. I’m Ali. I’m 14 years old. I’m in prep 2. I live
with my father, my mother and my sister. We are a happy family. My father is my hero. I
love him very much. He is a doctor. He is 40 years old. He is clever and kind. He helps the
sick and the poor. He gets up early. He works hard. He loves his job. Really, my father is a
great person. I want to be a doctor, too. I want to help the sick and the poor.

My hero : A person you respect

Mohammed Salah is my hero. He is a sportsman and one of the most wonderful foot-
ball players. He is short. He has got curly hair. He plays for Liverpool team. He plays for
our national team, too. He has a big smile. He works hard. He scores a lot of goals. He
won a lot of prizes. He is kind. He always donates money for poor people and helps build
schools and hospitals. Salah is also friendly. He always talks to his fans. In my opinion,
Mohammed Salah is a good person and a wonderful player.

What makes a hero?

There are a lot of heroes around us. There are teachers, sports players, doctors, police-
men and more. These people are heroes at their jobs. A hero is someone who is very
brave. A hero is patient, kind, smart and lovely. He is able to help others in different ways.
A person can become a hero by saving someone who is in danger. A hero is someone
that puts people first. A hero thinks about other people before he thinks about himself.
Firefighters are heroes. They think about saving people. Sometimes a hero can be a
teacher. He/ She can teach you to read and write. That will make a difference to your life.
We have a lot of heroes who we’re proud of in Egypt.
Street cleaners
There are some jobs we can’t do without. Street cleaners, for example, are very import-
ant. The city would be terrible without them. They clean streets, parks and different plac-
es around us. We should respect them. We should teach our children to keep places
clean. Street cleaners have to work in different places and different times. People should
put their rubbish in bins to make their job easier. Street cleaners do a great job for us.
They are really heroes in the community. I like them very much. I’m proud of them.

Unit 4: Into the past

A historic place you visited
Last week, I visited one of the greatest historic places in Egypt. It is called Abu Simbel
Temple. It’s near Aswan. I went there on a school trip. It was my first time to visit Abu
Simbel Temple. Abu Simbel Temple was built by the Egyptian King Ramses II. There are
four statues in front of the temple. This place is awesome. We met a guide there. He
gave us a lot of information about the temple. There were a lot of tourists from all over
the world. I spoke with them in English. Abu Simbel Temple is one of the best places in
Egypt. I spent a very beautiful day there. We knew a lot about the history of our country.
I’m proud of my country, Egypt.

Objects from the past Egypt’s

Objects from the past can help us to understand what life was like many years ago. In
Ancient Egypt, many people used mirrors to help them paint around their eyes. The paint
helped them to protect their eyes from the sun. The mirrors were metal and had inter-
esting designs. The Ancient Egyptians also used pots and bowls for making food such
as bread. These objects were made of clay, which was taken from the River Nile. The
Ancient Egyptians liked the game of senet. The senet game have 30 squares. It’s about
3,500 years old.
