■ Handling precautions (For Accurate True Headings)

The following points require special attention in order to correctly display and output the
heading of this product.
WARNING
This device displays and outputs the true heading as long as the variation is accurate
and the deviation is correct. If there is any factor that causes the variation or deviation
to change, this device may not display or output the accurate true heading.

Factors that may cause the variation to change include:

• Lightning
• Magnetic storm
• Voyages in particular sea areas under the infl uence of magnetic fi elds (e.g.,
Elba Island, St. Helena Island, etc.)
• Vessel movement (manual variation correction)
Factors that may cause the deviation to change include:
• Vessel movement
• Vessel listing
• Change of cargo
• Shock
• Infl uence of other vessels or nearby constructions
• Voyages in particular sea areas under the infl uence of magnetic fi elds (e.g.,
Elba Island, St. Helena Island, etc.)

This product has the function which corrects the deviation based on the deviation table
on the vessel. If the deviation will be changed by some reasons, this product can not
correct deviation accurately. So use the latest and acculate deviation table (values)
which is adjusted by compass adjuster.

This product calculates the variation by using the date/time and position from GNSS
information. But in the high latitude more of the latitude 70 degrees, the calculated
variation accuracy will be low. In this case, switch to the manual correction mode.

●Automaticaly Valiation Calcurating

This device uses IGRF model for calcurating variation.

1. Outline
This device display and output true heading, magnetic heading, variation and deviation.
True heading is calculated with magnetic heading, variation and deviation received from
fluxgate sensor.

For the correction of variation, two functions are provided. One function is for
automatically correcting variation based upon position information and UTC information
from the GNSS receive (option). The other function is for allowing the operator to
manually enter and set correction data.
For the correction of deviation, two functions are provided, manual input and, input by
the residual deviation table on own vessel.

To use this device for THD, the following conditions are required:
・GNSS signal input
・Residual deviation input

5. Maintenance and Inspection

5.1. Inspection
Implement the following procedures of the daily inspection and regular inspection to
maintain the equipment in a state of normal working order.

WARNING
■ Execution of the maintenance and inspection
To maintain the performance of the system, reliably execute maintenance and
inspection stated in this chapter. This may also lead to an early detection of a
failure. If the failure is difficult to deal on board, quickly contact to our sales and
service agent or the authorized agent listed on the service network list.

■ During the maintenance and inspection

 Special attention shall be paid to a person at the steering gear room during
maintenance and inspection (Ex. Do not get caught by high speed rotating
cylinder, rudder handle, or the other steering gear objects).
 Although the System Selector on control stand is OFF, Control and Power
Box equipped at the steering gear room still supplies AC power. Therefore,
there is a risk of electrical shock. If necessary, separate power supply from
the distribution board.

CAUTION
■ During the internal system inspection
・ Obey the instruction when inspecting the internal system. Do not touch
places other than instructed.
・ When checking and exchanging a fuse or replacing a connector, a
terminal, or a PCB of the unit, turn System Selector to OFF and, turn the
breaker OFF which supplies power to the system. It could lead to a
danger or malfunction if the breaker is ON.
