 CHAPTER I
Introduction

TOPIC: Define and elaborate the researcher’s topic in paragraph form, give example that
will clarify your chosen subject matter. (CITATION)

IMPORTANCE: Explain the relevance of the topic in the everyday life of the individuals
that will be benefiting from your research. (Citation)

REASONS FOR CHOOSING YOUR TOPIC: Justify researcher’s desire in choosing the
topic by emphasizing on the motivation that led them to choosing the topic.

PURPOSE: To end the introduction use another paragraph to discuss the objectives of the
research.

Background of the Study

Consists of statement on how the researcher was led in conducting the study. Describe
the problem as clearly as possible. Researcher may quote from literatures related to the topic.

Statement of the Problem

This study aims to determine (research problem/title). Specific questions that the
researcher aims to answer are as follows; (arrange questions in order of importance)
EXAMPLE:
1. What are the Academic Performance of the Selected Grade 10 Students at NHS before
the application of Self-Learning Modules?

2. What are the Academic Achievements of the students during the application of Self-
Learning Modules to the Selected Grade 10 Students at NHS?
 3. Is there a significant difference/relationship in the Academic Achievement before and
during the application of Modular Learning during the COVID-19 Pandemic?

Theoretical Framework

This is the foundation of the research study. The researcher must look for at least one
reliable theory that will serve as the backbone of the research and support for the investigation
and observation of the problem being researched. This theory must be aligned to what the
researcher is trying to find out in the study.
Examples; (Cognitive Learning Theories, Behaviorism Theories, Constructivism
Theories, Humanism Theories, and Connectivism Theories).

The locale of the study, where the data will be gathered, and the research will take place.
The number of respondents that will represent the whole population.
The period of the study. (time, date, year) during which the study was conducted.

Significance of the Study

The researcher must discuss here the benefits of the research to the community.
Example:
Students: what will students get from the research paper?
Teachers: what will teachers get from the research paper?
School Administration: what will the school administration get from the research paper?

Definition of Terms
This part of the research is a dictionary where terms should be defined operationally.
Meaning, the words should be described in the way the researcher used it in the research paper.
Example:
Control Group – the specific group separated from the rest of the research
Guardian – A person who is authorized under applicable state or local law to give permission on
behalf of a child for general care.

 CHAPTER II
Related Literature

Before starting the review in this chapter, write a short introduction about the collected
literatures and its function to this research paper.
Related literature provides an overview of previous researches on knowledge sharing. It
introduces the basis for the research paper that contains the main focus of the researcher’s study
described in this research paper.
This chapter may consist of simply a summary of main points from journals, articles,
previous researches, electronic sources, etc. It usually has an organizational pattern that are
arranged in sub-topic often within specific conceptual categories. Especially if your topic is
broad, like in university performance, it makes sense to break down your discussion by topics.

Example of sub-topics for Chapter II: (minimum of 4 subtopic)

Bipolar Disorder Among Filipino Learners

NOTE: Always use American Psychological Association (APA) format It is an author/date-
based citation style. Emphasis is placed on the author and the date of a piece of work.

EXAMPLE:
Student performance in a case method course may be assessed along a variety of
dimensions including class participation, individual written work on papers and exams, and
group activities such as projects and presentations. (Bean and Peterson, 2004)

Tan (2023) in his research, computer literacy is the capability of using electronic gadgets
and related similar technologies effectively and efficiently.

According to Lamas (2015) The academic performance involves factors such as the
intellectual level, personality, motivation, skills, interests, study habits, self-esteem or the
teacher-student relationship.

NOTE: Collect at least minimum of 10 related literature per subtopic to discuss in the
research paper. This will help in proving the fact stated in the paper.

After collecting related literatures, write a conclusion or summary to weave the gathered
data and make it whole and anchored to the research paper.
 CHAPTER III
Research Methods

Research Design
The researcher will use (research design used) which will have one independent variable
and one dependent variable. The independent variable will be (independent variable) whereas the
dependent variable will be (dependent variable)
Explain the research design used (ex. Quasi-Experimental, Correlational, Experimental,
etc.) also, explain how this research design will help to answer the questions in the Statement of
the Problem). Provide a citation from other sources about the research design used in your
research.
EXAMPLE: The researcher will use Correlational Research Design which will have
one independent variable and one dependent variable. The independent variable will be Online
Learning whereas the dependent variable will be Academic Performance
The research design that will be used in this study will help the researchers answer the
questions posted in the statement of the problem through statistically determining and proving
the relationship between the independent and dependent variables.
According to Mcdonell (2015) The Correlational Research Method is being used to show
how strong the relationship between paired variables.

Locale of the Study

Describe the place where the locale of the study is situated. The address where the study
is situated, the general population of the people in that place, and background of the location of
the study.

Population of the Study

In specific, describe the respondents where the research is conducted. Describe the
specific population of the location of the study.

Instrument
 Explain the tool (questionnaire, survey, or interview) that will be used to gather data.

Data Gathering Procedure

Explain the sampling technique and procedure of how the data will be gathered and how
the instrument will be used. Explain how the instrument will be used to gather data needed for
your research.

Statistical Treatment of Data

Data analysis will involve organizational and explanation of data. In order to interpret the
data effectively, the researcher will employ the (the kind of statistical treatment that will be used
in your research) in order to answer each Statement of the Problem:
1. Question in the statement of the problem that will be answered thru the use of
statistical data.
2. Question in the statement of the problem that will be answered thru the use of
statistical data.
3. Question in the statement of the problem that will be answered thru the use of
statistical data.

NOTE: Always use future tense in writing Chapter 3 research proposal. Use third person
point of view.
