Learning Journal Unit - 7
1. Briefly, share a time when you set a goal and did not accomplish it,
and then share a time when you set a goal and successfully
achieved it. Why weren’t you successful in your first example? Why
were you successful in your second example?
Setting Goals and Achieving Success
Setting goals is an essential part of personal and professional growth. It
helps to focus, stay motivated, and track progress. However, achieving
goals can be challenging, and it's crucial to understand why some goals
succeed while others fail.
Unsuccessful Goal: Learning Computer language C++
In my previous role, I aimed to learn computer programming language called
C++ within six months. Unfortunately, I failed to dedicate consistent time
and effort, and my progress was slow. I didn't achieve fluency due to:
1. Lack of clear plan
2. Inconsistent effort
3. No accountability
Successful Goal: Certification Program in theology
Later, I set a goal to complete a certification program within 12 months. This
time, I:
1. Created a study schedule
2. Allocated dedicated time
3. Sought support from peers
I successfully completed the program, gaining valuable skills and confidence.

3. Based on your answer to questions 1 and 2, set three goals: one
short-term, one mid-term, and one long-term
Three Goals
Based on my previous experiences, I've set three new goals:
Short-Term (3 months):
1. Develop a morning meditation practice, dedicating 15 minutes daily.
Mid-Term (6 months):
1. Complete an online course in computer programming languages.
Preferably python , C++
Long-Term (12 months):
1. Train for a marathon, running three times a week and increasing mileage
gradually.
These goals align with my personal growth and well-being objectives,
ensuring a balanced and fulfilling life.
Longer-term: graduate and obtain my BA degree
Action Plan
To achieve these goals, I'll:
1. Break tasks into smaller steps
2. Create accountability with friends or mentors
3. Regularly track progress
4. Stay flexible and adapt to changes
Conclusion

goals succeed or fail and setting SMART objectives, we can overcome
obstacles and reach our full potential. With persistence, dedication, and the
right mindset, we can turn our goals into reality.
