INTERNSHIP PROJECT REPORT

I have completed my internship in THE BOP TAQWA ISLAMIC BANKING 0791 CHAKWAL BRANCH. During
my internship I had been rotated different departments of bank. This movement and working provide a
complete knowledge of their working to me; they also explained each and every concept to make me
clear. This knowledge and practical experience was the thing which help me to complete this report

This report includes a complete introduction of BOP their mission statement their services, complete
functioning and performance. In the end, the conclusion of whole report is written certain suggestions
for the organization.

Acknowledgement
First of all thanks to Allah Almighty, who enable me to complete this task and then I am thankful to THE
BANK OF PUNJAB employees who provided me every favor and It was such a pleasant experience to
work in the BOP and thankful to all those who helped me in preparing this internship report by sharing
their best knowledge.

Executive summary
I have done my internship at THE BANK OF PUNJAB 0791. It is the Islamic banking and has 2
department’s sales and operation and further categorize in sub departments in the branch and I worked
as an internee in that branch. For the first three weeks I worked in account opening department under
the supervision of Sir Muhammad Suffiyan CSO, where I have to perform following tasks,

 Account opening of different nature and related operations.


 Periodic review of high risk accounts/EDDs/ODDs/FATCA/PEP bio-metric verification
 Customer profile complete, transactions matched, profile review and update.
 Feeding of complete and correct info including KYC matching thresholds.
 Correct status of tax, zakat, CNIC expiry, category and classification.
 Handling and responding customer queries at branch.
 Chequebook/debit cards/dormant/unclaimed/hold mail etc.
 How to put information in account opening system.
 Issuance of RFC/TMC certificates.
 Procedure of Activation of dormant accounts
 Closure of accounts.
 Screening.

Afterwards I have learnt about vouchers in essential to confirm that correct posting has been done.
Vouchers are properly bind sealed and checking by the operation manager. I have checked the following
things:

 The cheque should not be post-dated.


 Amount in words and figures tallies
 Signature verification
 To make scrolls through consumers id of bills. As it is not allowed to internee so Sir Waqar
(Teller) only tell me the procedure.
 Vouchers binding.
 Clearing inward/outwards.
The task for me is “debit block activity” it is one of the most interesting works I have learnt in the bank. I
also used to help different employees in their work. My work timing was from 8:45 to 5pm five days in a
week.

Compliant products to serve the needs of all sectors of economy including corporate, commercial and
consumer.

conformity of quality service standards and customer friendly policies that will help us to grow with the
consistent pace in line with the management’s expectations and vision.

Management of the bank:

At the level of decision-making and implementation, senior management of the bank is drawn from
highly accomplished bankers with rich experience in the banking profession both domestic and
international. The following are the different main departments of the bank.

 P &OEG department
 Compliance department
 Retail business group and IBG
 Shariah board
 Internal audit

Suggestions and recommendations:

In the light of the knowledge obtained during internship and studying the organization the
following recommendations may prove to be successful to the bank.

 The system of BOP is needed to be upgraded. for example As in other bank the account
number is allotted at the same day but in BOP it does not allots at the same day.
 No lockers are available in this branch due to this unavailability branch faces customer
potential interest loss.
 The bank of Punjab should use the latest technology as BANK ALFALAH uses “T24”
software. The bank which can provide speedy, accurate and standard services in the
delivery of products etc. to the customer will be successful

Conclusion:

Internship is an interesting program which gave me the practical experience of the banking field.
Through this, I learnt that what is the banking and its activities. Taqwa Islamic banking holds a strong
position in the Islamic financial market with its assorted products and services which are both industry
compatible and competitive. Under the kind supervision of our worthy Shariah board TAQWA IBD is
providing Shariah compliant solutions to its customers.
