Coursework Brief
You are required to design a questionnaire on your allocated topic, conduct a pilot survey to
collect data, analyse and present findings as a PowerPoint voiceover presentation (saved
as .mp4 or.mov).
The coursework which includes data analysis, interpretation of results and presentation of
findings as a PowerPoint voiceover (saved as .mp4 or.mov) is an individual work worth 60%
of the overall grade. Questionnaire design and data collection which feed into the coursework
will be executed as groupwork and graded as ACE in specific weeks. Please see below for more
details.
Tasks:
• The survey must be conducted online where you will share your questionnaire (e.g via
Teams or NTU email) to collect responses.
1
• Each member must engage with this task and collect their share of data as agreed by
the group.
• Only NTU students will be surveyed. As per ethics requirements, you cannot collect
responses from non-NTU students.
• Aim to collect approximately 100 (or slightly more) responses.
• For confidentiality and data security, please save your dataset on the NTU system
(OneDrive).
• This task will be graded as Assessed Class Engagement (ACE) in week starting 11th
November 24 (week 8). You must show that you have collected your share of data
and conduct some descriptive analysis. Failure to engage with data collection task will
result in not passing ACE that week. This work will also be graded in line with peer
assessment as per NBS Groupwork Policy. Each team member will give each other a
score from 0 to 3 to reflect team members’ engagement with the data collection task.
Note that little or no engagement with the task will incur penalties. Final
coursework grades will be adjusted in line with peer assessment scores
• Each team member must use the collected data to conduct their own data analysis.
• Data cleaning prior to analysis is also an individual task.
• All data analysis must be carried out in Minitab.
• Findings must be presented as an individual PowerPoint voiceover saved as .mp4
or .mov with a duration of 10 minutes max.
• You may use around 10-15 PowerPoint slides.
• This task will be graded as part of your summative assessment against the grading
matrix.
Each student must submit the following to the Dropbox by Friday 13th December,
11:00 PM:
• Final Questionnaire
• Minitab output for data analysis included in the PowerPoint presentation (Word
document)
• PowerPoint Voiceover presentation saved as .mp4 or.mov
• Peer Assessment Form
Presentation guidelines:
2
• Aims of the survey.
• Three bivariate analyses, at most two of which must make use of the measurement
variable(s). Note that all three bivariate analyses cannot be the same, for example
you cannot present three chi-square tests. Appropriate hypotheses must be specified.
• Limitations of study
• Appropriate use of tables, charts, graphs and diagrams - suitably labelled and
annotated.
See the grading matrix for the full set of criteria that will be used in grading your work.
NOTE: The emphasis in this module is on the practical approach to data collection through
surveys, application of appropriate statistical techniques, interpretation of results and
presentation of findings in an intelligent way.
