Job Title: Head of Data Science

Location: Bangalore
Experience: 17+ years

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Head of Data Science with 17+ years
of experience, with a proven track record in delivering data-driven solutions and leading
high-performance teams across multiple domains, including Banking,
Telecommunications, and Manufacturing. The ideal candidate will possess deep
technical expertise in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Generative AI
(GenAI), with a strong emphasis on business value, innovation, and operational
excellence.

Key Responsibilities

1. Leadership & Strategy

o Develop, Lead and Implement data science strategy in alignment with the
organization’s strategic objectives

o Lead a team of data scientists, machine learning engineers, and AI


researchers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and high
performance.

o Collaborate with senior leadership to identify and prioritize data science


opportunities that drive business growth, enhance customer experience,
and streamline operations.

o Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the


success and ROI of data science initiatives.
2. Data Science & AI Expertise

o Design, develop and implementation of machine learning models and AI-


driven solutions, ensuring they meet quality standards, are scalable, and
provide measurable business impact.

o Stay updated on the latest trends in AI, Machine Learning, Generative AI,
and emerging data science techniques, incorporating relevant
advancements into the team’s practices.

o Guide the team in building complex models, including predictive analytics,


recommendation engines, natural language processing (NLP), and
computer vision solutions, tailored to industry-specific needs.

3. Generative AI Development

o Lead initiatives around Generative AI, including model development and


deployment, exploring new use cases across different domains.

o Develop frameworks and pipelines for Generative AI applications such as


content creation, synthetic data generation, and conversational AI.

o Ensure adherence to ethical guidelines and responsible AI practices,


especially in the deployment of Generative AI models.

4. Stakeholder Engagement

o Work closely with business leaders to translate complex data insights into
actionable strategies and decisions.

o Present insights and data science strategies to non-technical


stakeholders, driving awareness and adoption across the organization.

o Collaborate with IT, data engineering, and product teams to ensure


seamless data integration and model deployment.

5. Innovation and Continuous Improvement

o Foster a culture of experimentation and continuous learning within the


data science team.

o Encourage and support ongoing training in advanced topics, including AI


ethics, deep learning, and GenAI developments.

o Partner with academic institutions and industry experts to stay at the


forefront of data science research and practices.
Qualifications

• Education: Master’s in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering,


or a related field.

• Experience: 17+ years in data science, analytics, or a related field, with


substantial experience in managing large data science teams and delivering
projects across banking, telecommunications, and manufacturing industries.

• Technical Skills:

o Expertise in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, AI, and Generative AI


technologies.

o Proficiency in Python, R, SQL, and machine learning frameworks like


TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-Learn.

o Hands-on experience with Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark,


and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud).

o Knowledge of NLP, Computer Vision, Reinforcement Learning, and


Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs).

o Familiarity with MLOps and model lifecycle management best practices.

o Certifications in AI/ML, cloud platforms, or project management are a


plus.

• Leadership Skills:

o Strong background in building and leading data science teams, with a


focus on fostering innovation and collaboration.

o Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex data


science concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

o Proven strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on


delivering measurable business impact.
