- Adding non-perpendicular forces

To add two non-perpendicular forces, we can use the parallelogram rule. This involves the following steps:
1. Draw the Forces: Represent each force as an arrow, with the
length proportional to the magnitude (e.g, if the force is 10N, draw it
to scale, as 10cm), and the direction indicating the direction of the
force (use a protractor to draw the angle between them correctly).
2. Complete the Parallelogram: From the tail of one force arrow,
draw a line parallel to the second force arrow. Then, from the
head of the first arrow, draw a line parallel to the first force. This
creates a parallelogram.
3. Draw the Resultant Force: The diagonal of the parallelogram,
drawn from the tail of the first force to the head of the second
force, represents the resultant force.

Example:
A force F₁ of 20 N acts at an angle of 45° to the horizontal, while a second force F₂ of 25 N acts at an angle
of 120° to the horizontal. Use the parallelogram rule to find the magnitude of the resultant force R.
Answer:

Q1: A force F₁ of 40 N acts at an angle of 30° to the horizontal, while a second force F₂ of 55 N acts at an
angle of 145° to the horizontal. Use the parallelogram rule to find the magnitude of the resultant force R.
