THE HOLY ROSARY FOR PERSECUTED CHRISTIANS

INTRODUCTION

Commentator: Dear friends, as we gather to pray the Holy Rosary for our persecuted
brothers and sisters in Christ, let us reflect on the theme “One in Suffering, One in
Consolation.” This theme resonates deeply with our shared experiences and the trials
faced by many Christians around the world.

We are blessed to have the presence of our holy martyrs. They remind us that we are not
alone; their presence among us symbolizes hope and resilience. As young people
navigating a world filled with challenges, let us draw inspiration from their courage and
commitment to faith. Let us unite our hearts and voices in prayer, knowing that through
our prayers, we can bring comfort to those who suffer. Together, we stand as one body in
Christ—one in suffering and one in consolation.

HYMN: “THEY’LL KNOW WE ARE CHRISTIANS BY OUR LOVE”

PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL (UCCSB)

For centuries, Christians over all the world endured many trials and persecutions.
Despite these persecutions, it proved the resiliency and faith of Christians in Our Lord,
therefore, let us call on God our Father that he may hear the prayers we offer for our
persecuted brethren: Lord, be our refuge and strength.

1. For your faithful who suffer for your name’s sake, that you would grant them a spirit of
patience and charity, that they may be found true and faithful witnesses to the promises
you have made, we pray to the Lord. R./ Lord, be our refuge and strength.

2. For government leaders worldwide, that they may recognize the grave responsibility
that comes with power, and may protect the persecuted and work for an end to
violence and war, we pray to the Lord. R./ Lord, be our refuge and strength.

3. For all our brothers and sisters fleeing persecution and war around the world, that
they may find safe haven and protection, and that they may rebuild their lives in dignity,
we pray to the Lord. R./ Lord, be our refuge and strength

4. For those who provide assistance to refugees fleeing persecution and violence, that
they may continue to see the face of Christ in the most vulnerable, we pray to the
Lord. R./ Lord, be our refuge and strength.

5. For those who persecute Christians and other religious minorities, that the light of
God's truth and mercy may penetrate their hearts, and that they may come to recognize
the common humanity of all peoples and cease committing acts of hatred, we pray to the
Lord. R./ Lord, be our refuge and strength.

6. For those who suffer persecution for their faithful service to you, that they may rejoice
to be united to the sacrifice of Christ your Son and may know that their names are
written in heaven among the company of the elect, we pray to the Lord.
R./ Lord, be our refuge and strength.

Celebrant: O God, who in your inscrutable providence will that the Church be united to
the sufferings of your Son, grant, we pray, to your faithful who suffer for your name’s
sake a spirit of patience and charity, that they may be found true and faithful witnesses
to the promises you have made. Through Christ our Lord. // All: Amen.
PRAYER FOR THE PERSECUTED CHRISTIANS (Bp. William E. Lori)

O God of all the nations, the One God who is and was and always will be, in your
providence you willed that your Church be united to the suffering of your Son. Look with
mercy on your servants who are persecuted for their faith in you. Grant them
perseverance and courage to be worthy imitators of Christ.

Bring your wisdom upon leaders of nations to work for peace among all peoples. May
your Spirit open conversion for those who contradict your will, that we may live in
harmony. Give us the grace to be united in truth and freedom, and to always seek your
will in our lives. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Celebrant: Lord, be our refuge and strength as we pray...

All: Our Father...
