TEXT: THE YOUTHS AND SOCIAL MEDIA

Using social media is among the most common activities of adolescents and youths nowadays.
These media offer the youth a portal for entertainment and communication. Social networks
include applications such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, Snap chat, You Tube, etc. Over
recent years, WhatsApp has gained a huge popularity in our society especially among the
younger generation. WhatsApp is a social network that connects users with their contacts lists.
To use whatsApp, both contacts should have it installed on their smartphones or androids and
get connected via a Wi-Fi or mobile data connection.
As a social media, WhatsApp offers a lot of advantages. Users can upload and share
voicemails, photos and videos among their personal contacts. WhatsApp not only permits
users to write comments on their contacts’ profiles, but also to send private messages and
even make video calls. Additionally, users of WhatsApp have the possibility to create groups
where they can chat, have debates, make plans, and share all sorts of information…
Despite all these positive aspects, there are many negative ones that come along with the use
of this social medium. A lot of youths including students become so addicted. They are used
to chatting on social media every time. Consequently, many of them find it difficult to focus
on their studies. Apart from impacting on their performance at school, WhatsApp also has
effects on health by causing sleeplessness. It becomes more appalling these days as sharing
nude pictures and sexual contents has become the new trend among the youths. Such
behaviors are against social values. It is therefore important for parents and educators to
sensitize adolescents and youths on the risks and harmful sides of this useful social network.

Bagbé city, where they seriously have problem of light. Your parents have just installed solar
power technologies at home and you no more have light problem. Now all your relatives no
longer pay any electricity bills. Write a letter to your friend who still has problem of
electricity to tell him about the importance of solar energy and advise him to use it too. You
