STATEMENT OF PURPOSE FOR PHD
I'm writing to say how eager I am to study and solve problems in the real world by earning a
Ph.D. At the young age of 17, I began my career with a major in Electrical Engineering. From
a young age, I was drawn to the fascinating field of electrical and electronic engineering. The
first time I saw an IC chip was in the Digital System Design Lab, as I still recall. I was quite
interested in the operation of these electronic systems. When I first saw the Transformer, an
induction motor used for real-time applications, I was captivated. Finding the broad field of
Electrical and Electronics Engineering, which is a promising field, thrilled me.
My studies in Electrical Engineering have given me a strong foundation in the concepts of
communication networks, signal processing, and control systems. I attended Guru Nanak
Institute of Technology, under Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology
(University ) in Kolkata, for my undergraduate studies. I continuously showed that I was
dedicated to achieving academic success. My interest in robotics was sparked by my
coursework, which introduced me to the topics of digital signal processing, machine learning
in image processing, control systems, and embedded systems. Additionally, I've worked with
simulation tools like Gazebo, ROS, and Python for robotics programming.
I had a strong interest in power electronics during my bachelor's degree, and I thought my
thesis would involve some fascinating work. For home use, I worked on a solar inverter that
was power-efficient for my bachelor’s project.
The main objective of our project is to design and construct a photovoltaic (PV) system that
can produce electricity, operate in dual mode, and supply stand-alone AC loads with the least
amount of space and cost.
The main goal of the system is to reduce dependency on fossil fuels and the pollution they
cause by producing high-quality electricity from renewable sources. This project's primary
objective is to build an inverter that will enable the inversion of a DC power source. One
benefit of the project is that it will make a clean, limitless energy source available. The main
objective of our project is to design and construct a PV-based system that can support isolated
AC loads and generate electricity while minimizing size and cost. The system's main feature
is its ability to generate high-quality power from renewable sources, which reduces
dependency on fossil fuels and the pollution they produce. Reduce energy expenses by
joining the grid, which enables you to lower energy costs by connecting to the grid, which
allows you to sell electricity and do away with the requirement for storage batteries—the
most expensive system components per watt. I developed the working model in MATLAB
software and developed an inverter with the least harmonic distortion.

My desire to learn more about topics linked to and related to my undergraduate major drove
me to pursue a master's degree. I started studying sensor technology with IOT applications to
broaden my knowledge and hone my technical skills. I developed a passion for robotics and
sensor modeling during my master's program.
To improve my programming abilities, I was actively involved in creating small projects with
the Raspberry Pi and the Diligent Basys 3 Xilinx Artix 7 FPGA Board. My renowned
professors supported me along the way. But when IIT Kanpur Professor Dr. Ketan Rajawat
hired me as his research assistant to work on Optimal Path Design for UAVs, I was excited to
work with robotics and UAVs. The project piqued my interest because it was so amazing.
My passion for robotics was further ignited during my Master's summer internship, where I
worked on the development and implementation of formation control and path planning in a
swarm of quadrotors. This project provided me with valuable hands-on experience in
designing control algorithms, optimized path-planning algorithms, sensor integration, and
wireless communication protocols. I was thrilled to witness our swarm successfully
coordinate in real-time, emphasizing the potential of UAVs in solving complex real-world
problems.
In addition to my research experience, I have actively participated in extracurricular robotics
club activities and technical competitions. These experiences have honed my teamwork, and
problem-solving skills, which I believe are invaluable in a collaborative and innovative field
like robotics.
Purdue University has outstanding faculty, cutting-edge research facilities, and a strong
commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration, which is why I am particularly drawn to it.
Purdue University’s research on Robotics is well-known for its groundbreaking work in the
fields of robotics communication and control, which makes it the perfect setting for my
academic and research endeavors.
I looked through Professor "Mahsa Ghasemi" recent works and discovered some incredible
robotics work. I work on swarm optimal path design actively, and I primarily use ROS and
Python as my first programming languages for robots. I am actively involved in swarm
optimal path design where I mostly use ROS and Python as my preliminary language for
programming robots. I think that her work and interest is related to what I am doing. I am
also interested in Professor “Junjie Qin” for his amazing research areas and projects. I
found that His interest is concentrated on control and optimization, statistical learning, market
design, and their applications to power systems, transportation systems, and cyber-physical

systems that closely connect with my interests and bachelor's degree project. I think I will be
able to contribute to his group with my bachelor's and master’s skills.
I am interested in working with Professor " Irith Pomeranz " because analog electronics,
radio frequency signal applications, and VLSI Circuits are some of my primary research
interests.I've worked on a number of small projects, the majority of which involved
interfacing the Digilent Basys 3 Artix-7 FPGA Trainer Board with sensors and other
peripheral devices. In addition, I received the highest grade in digital system design using
FPGA.I believe the Professor's interests align with some of the projects I completed during
my Master of Technology.
I'm also intrigued by the ongoing projects of Professor "Cheng-Kok Koh," who specializes
in VLSI circuit design. The projects are fantastic for advancing my career in electronics and
earning a doctorate degree in VLSI Circuit designing.
My goal is to establish myself as a preeminent robotics researcher and innovator. My goal is
to make a positive impact on swarm robotics by applying it to electronic system design,
defense, agriculture, and disaster management. To maximize the effectiveness of robotic and
electronic system design, I also hope to contribute to the development of communication
standards.
To sum up, I would like to say that I am truly thrilled about the possibility of attending
Purdue University to work toward a doctorate in robotics with an emphasis on electrical
engineering's communication and control or VLSI circuit design. I have faith that your
prestigious institution's resources, mentorship, and research opportunities will enable me to
meet my academic and professional goals. I'm excited to add to Purdue University’s thriving
academic community and take part in the continuing developments in robotics.
