`1.Explain two ways of how technical trainers can integrate technology in their class to enhance the lesson and support
student learning.

 Gamified learning

Gamification is the process of turning regular learning into an engaging game for your students.
Gamified learning is highly effective when technology is involved.

 Video-based lessons

Videos are an excellent way to capture students’ attention and deliver content in an easy and
understandable way. YouTube and other video-sharing platforms are goldmines when it comes to
finding suitable educational content for students of all ages.
2. Discuss two factors a trainer should consider when doing self- reflection after the lesson

The reflection process is influenced by internal (eg. motivation, expectancy and prior
experiences with reflection) and external factors (formative or summative character of assessment,
presence of facilitators and introduction to the assessment).
3. Explain two ways of ensuring that assessment tools are aligned with learning outcomes of the course

I. Building Effective Assessment of Learning Processes

Lessons, course activities, assessment, and instruction should be planned in a way that allows students
to successfully complete assessments and to make connections, gather, organize, interact with, and
practice learning outcomes

II. The Role of Rubrics

Building rubrics that clearly show what attainment looks like and can be used to grade assignments are
useful tools for building clarity and allowing students to measure their own progress

4. Explain two reasons of using a variety of assessment methods in technical assessment .

a. It promotes effective teaching and learning by aligning assessments with research-informed

principles and helping teachers achieve their intentions
b. It improves students' reasoning, thinking, and problem-solving skills by using interactive
methods that encourage open analysis, hypotheses, and divergent thinking
5. Create a sample written feedback comment for a trainee who has demonstrated a technical skill but made a minor
mistake.
Great work on demonstrating the functionality of the engine! Your understanding and execution
of the technical aspects were impressive and showed a commendable level of skill. It's clear that you
have a solid grasp of the mechanics involved.

However, I did notice a minor mistake during the demonstration. It's important to ensure that
all components are securely fastened and properly aligned to avoid any potential issues in the future.
Even small oversights can impact the overall performance of the engine.

I encourage you to pay close attention to these details in future demonstrations. Remember,
consistent attention to detail is key to maintaining the reliability and efficiency of the engine. Keep up
the excellent work, and I'm confident you'll continue to excel in your technical abilities.
6. Imagine that you have been given a task of assessment tools in your area of specialization;

a. Prepare a practical assessment tool for the candidate with at least 3 tasks to be performed

Practical Assessment Tool: Mechanical Engineering Skills

Task 1: Engine Diagnosis and Repair

Objective: Assess the candidate's ability to diagnose and repair common engine issues.

Instructions:

1. Provide the candidate with an engine exhibiting predetermined faults (e.g., misfiring, overheating, oil
leaks).

2. Task the candidate with diagnosing the issue(s) and outlining a repair plan.

3. Evaluate the candidate's execution of the repair, including the accuracy of diagnosis, use of
appropriate tools and techniques, and adherence to safety protocols.

4. Assess the effectiveness of the repair by testing the engine's performance post-repair.

Task 2: Mechanical Design and Analysis

Objective: Evaluate the candidate's proficiency in mechanical design and analysis using computer-aided
design (CAD) software.
Instructions:

1. Present the candidate with a design challenge (e.g., designing a mechanical component or system).

2. Task the candidate with creating a detailed design using CAD software, considering factors such as
functionality, strength, and manufacturability.

3. Assess the candidate's design for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to engineering standards
and specifications.

4. Have the candidate analyze the design using simulation tools to evaluate factors like stress
distribution, deflection, and safety margins.

5. Evaluate the candidate's ability to interpret analysis results and make appropriate design
modifications to optimize performance.

Task 3: Mechanical System Troubleshooting

Objective: Test the candidate's problem-solving skills in troubleshooting mechanical systems.

Instructions:

1. Provide the candidate with a malfunctioning mechanical system (e.g., hydraulic system, conveyor belt
system).

2. Task the candidate with identifying the root cause of the malfunction and developing a
troubleshooting plan.

3. Evaluate the candidate's approach to troubleshooting, including the use of systematic methods,
logical reasoning, and diagnostic tools.

4. Assess the effectiveness of the candidate's troubleshooting efforts by observing their ability to
identify and resolve the issue.

5. Have the candidate document their troubleshooting process and provide recommendations for
preventing similar issues in the future.

Scoring:

Each task will be scored based on criteria such as technical proficiency, problem-solving skills, attention
to detail, safety awareness, and effective communication. The overall assessment will consider the
candidate's performance across all tasks to provide a comprehensive evaluation of their mechanical
engineering skills.
Note: The tasks outlined above aim to assess a range of essential skills in mechanical engineering,
including diagnostic abilities, design proficiency, and troubleshooting skills, which are crucial for success
in the field. Adjustments can be made to the tasks based on specific job requirements or skill levels of
the candidates.
