Attack Story:-

The Cyber Attack on Saudi Aramco: A National Crisis Saudi Aramco,


the state-owned oil giant, is one of the most valuable
companies in the world, worth trillions of dollars. It is not just a
key player in the global energy market, but also the backbone
of Saudi Arabia's economy. The company's fortunes directly influence
the well-being of the entire nation, and by extension,
the broader Middle East.
Reason for the attack :
1. Retaliation Attacks

2. Disrupting Critical Infrastructure

3. Displaying Cyber Capabilities

4. Confusing Governments and Security Agencies

5. Intelligence Gathering

6. Impacting Global Oil Prices

7. Reducing Trust in Cybersecurity

8. Achieving Political Goals or Applying International Pressure


Attack damage :-

v 1- Massive data wiping: It destroyed the data and information that employees had
stored on their devices, affecting nearly 30,000 devices in Aramco, like a random
bomb that destroys indiscriminately.

v 2- Disruption of work and production: Devices not working & data lost… thus
employees could not access the essential tools that allowed them to perform their
work.

v 3- Repair costs: Aramco spent huge sums of money on cleaning and rebuilding the
system, and also replaced the damaged devices.
Avoid attack :-
a. Continuous updating

b. Increasing cybersecurity awareness among all employees

c. Controlling access to sensitive data

d. Using anti-virus programs and firewalls

e. Storing backup copies of data

f. Periodic testing and cybersecurity assessments

g. Paying attention to cybersecurity education


conclusion :-

The keen interest and keenness of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is one
of the most important goals of the Kingdom's Vision
2030 to enhance security in cyberspace.
