Practical 11
Aim: To study the working of crossover Ethernet cable and connect it with RJ45
connector using crimping tool.
RJ45 cable is used for connect the ALL HMI and engineer station through a switch to
communicated each other. It is used to download the any modification and which is made in
graphics in engineering station.RJ45 cable also used for communicate the printer with computer.
There are four pairs of wires in an Ethernet cable, and an Ethernet connector (8P8C) has eight pin
slots. Each pin is identified by a number, starting from left to right, with the clip facing away from
you.
Crossover cables are found primarily on connections between similar devices like two computers
or two switches. A difference between straight-through and crossover cables is that the order of
the wires differs at each end of the cable. This will allow communication of devices indicating if
they are transmitting or receiving by 'crossovering' the 'Tx' and 'Rx' so that data can be obtained
by both similar devices.
Pin Configuration: Pins connected on two ends with different arrangements for example
T568 A on one end and T568B on the other end.
Transmit/Receive Swapping: Exchange the two ports' T/R signal between the two ends.
Colour Code Variation: In a crossover, some wires at each end have colour-coded
sequences different from the other end.
