Question – What do you mean by an Entrepreneur? Explain 5 differences between

Entrepreneur and Intrapreneur.

Answer-An Entrepreneur is an individual who initiates, develops, and manages a new

business venture, taking on financial risks with the aim of making a profit. Entrepreneurs
are often seen as innovators, introducing new products, services, or business models to
the market. They typically operate independently, building their own companies from the
ground up.

5 Differences Between Entrepreneur and Intrapreneur

1. Ownership and Risk:

Entrepreneur: Owns the business and takes on personal financial risk. Success or failure
directly impacts their wealth and livelihood.

Intrapreneur: Operates within an existing organization, using company resources to

innovate. The financial risk is borne by the company, not the individual.

2. Authority and Decision-Making:

Entrepreneur: Has complete control over decisions, setting the vision, strategy, and
direction of their business.

Intrapreneur: Works within the constraints of the company’s structure and policies. They
have limited authority and must align with the organization’s goals.

3. Resource Availability:

Entrepreneur: Must secure their own resources, including funding, talent, and
infrastructure. They often start with limited resources.

Intrapreneur: Has access to the organization’s resources, such as capital, technology,

and a workforce, which can accelerate innovation.
4. Innovation Focus:

Entrepreneur: Typically focuses on creating something entirely new, entering markets that
may not yet exist or are underdeveloped.

Intrapreneur: Focuses on innovation within the existing company, improving products,

processes, or services to maintain or expand the company’s market position.

5. Motivation and Rewards:

Entrepreneur: Is motivated by the potential for personal financial gain, autonomy, and the
satisfaction of building a successful business. Rewards are directly tied to the business's
performance.

Intrapreneur: Is motivated by the opportunity to innovate and make an impact within a

stable environment. Rewards are often in the form of recognition, career advancement, or
bonuses, rather than ownership stakes.
