IV. PROCEDURE
A. Reviewing or Game: Spin-A-Wheel
presenting the a. Spin the wheel for a pair of contestants.
new lesson b. When the wheel stops, the pupils solve the operations
inside the circle.

1. 3.5 ÷ 0.5 = (7)

2. 0.8 ÷ 0.2 = (4)
3. 5.6 ÷ 0.7 = (8)
4. 4.2 ÷ 0.7 = (6)

B. Establishing
a purpose for A. Have a volunteer pupils act out the short dialogues.
the lesson Situation: Tina and Rose went to the mall to buy things
they need at home.
Annie: We only have ₱273.50. What should we buy?
Rena: Mother said, “We have to buy things that would
cost about ₱273.50 only. What should we buy?
Annie: We go to the kitchenware section and see if
there is an item worth ₱273.50.
Rena: What kind of kitchenware do you think we can
buy with ₱273.50?
Annie: That’s why we go there and see.
Rena: I know now what to buy.
Annie: What?
Rena: We lack plates because I accidentally broke 5
plates yesterday remembered that?
Annie: Good idea.
Rena: How many plates can we buy with ₱273.50?
Annie: That will depend on the kind of plate we want.
Rena: Ok! Let’s go now.

B. After the role playing, ask the following questions:

1. Who went to the mall? Why?
2. How much money do they have?

C. Presenting Present the following word problem:

examples of A. At a department store, men’s socks sell at 3 pairs for ₱
the new 97.50. How much does each pair of socks cost?
lesson Ask: What is the cost of the 3 pairs of socks?
How do you solve the problem?

B. If the same kind of socks are sold by sidewalk vendor,

at ₱172.50 for the 6 pairs of socks, which is cheaper to buy
in department store on in sidewalk vendor?
Ask: What is the cost of each 6 pairs of socks in the
sidewalk vendors? Which is cheaper to buy?

practicing Problem A.
new skills #1 Solution: Use the 4-step plan in solving the problem.

Understand
● Know what is asked. (The cost of each pair of socks)

● Know the given facts. (₱97.50, 3 pairs of socks)

Plan
●Determine the operation or formula to use: (Division)

Solve
● Show how the solution is done.
Problem A = ₱ 97.50 ÷ 3
= ₱32.50
Check and Look Back
● You can use calculator to check your answer.
● State the complete answer.

Problem B (Do the same process above using the 4-step

plan in solving problem.)
Answer: ₱172.50 ÷ 6 = ₱28.75

practicing Four student organizations made a profit of ₱3 387.60 in their
new skills #2 last fund-raising project. If they shared the earnings equally, how
much did each organization receive?
Ask:
What is ask in the problem? Why is it important to have an equal
sharing in the profit they made? How to solve the problem?
Solution: Use the 4-step plan in solving the problem.

Understand
● Know what is asked (The equal amount of sharing for
the profit they made).

● Know the given facts. (₱3 387.60 the profit they made, 4
student organizations)

Plan
●Determine the operation or formula to use: (Division)

Solve
● Show how the solution is done.
Problem A = ₱3 387.60 ÷ 3
= ₱846.90
Check and Look Back
● You can use calculator to check your answer.
● State the complete answer.

F. Developing ACTIVITY 1
Mastery  Let the pupils solve these problems by group. Then, each group
will then present their work to the whole class.

Group 1 a). The Boy Scouts planted Narra trees along 0.90 km
river bank. For every 0.05 km, a Narra tree seedling is planted.
How many seedlings were planted along the river bank?

Group 2 b.) Mrs. Aldaba bought 5 mangoes for ₱45.00. How

much did each mango cost?

Group 3 c.) Belly saved Php 5.25 a day. When he counted his
money, he found out that he had Php 73.50. How many days did it
take him to save that amount?

Group 4 d.) A fisherman caught 15.45 kg of fish. He distributed

the fish equally among his 5 relatives. How many kg did each
relative get?
