Motivation Letter
With a heart full of enthusiasm and a mind full of ambition, I write this motivation with a
sincere intention to seize the rare opportunity of participating in a nursing exchange program in
Japan. For a long time, I have been fascinated by the beauty of Japanese culture, its rich history,
and its amazing innovations. However, my interest is not limited to these aspects alone. As an
nursing student, I also see this opportunity as a window for me to explore the unique and rapidly
developing nursing practice in Japan, as well as to gain a deeper understanding of public health
and global healthcare.
As a nursing student from Indonesia, especially at UGM, I am quite familiar with the
cultural differences felt in Yogyakarta. At UGM itself, I have learned a lot about nursing and also
in its cultural context. Here I study public and community health. Japan itself has an international
reputation in the field of health and nursing due to several key factors that make it stand out in the
world. The strong culture of politeness and respect in Japan is also reflected in healthcare practices,
with a focus on good communication, respect for patient autonomy, and meeting patient needs.
The nursing profession in Japan is also known for having high professional standards, with nurses
going through formal education and rigorous clinical training. With these privileges, I am very
motivated to learn nursing culture in Japan.
I also had the opportunity to work at the Public Safety Center in Yogyakarta. Therefore, I
am very inspired and curious about what this student exchange program has to offer. My internship
experience at the public safety center can be an extraordinary experience that I have. During the
internship, I not only gained a deep understanding of public health care, but also developed
community response and service skills. Through interactions with individuals from diverse
backgrounds, I learned to provide the necessary emotional and health support, skills that are very
valuable when interacting with students and patients from different cultures. In addition, the
internship experience deepened my understanding of the public health system and the importance
of disease prevention and health promotion, and strengthened my commitment to contributing to
improving the quality of life of the community. The interpersonal and teamwork skills I developed
during the internship will be valuable assets in the exchange environment, allowing me to actively
participate in providing quality care and contribute to academic and cultural activities in Japan.
