Caribbean Scholarship Scheme

“Silver and gold may vanish away but a good education will never decay’

I do not know who wrote on said that, but it remains very true. There can be no

doubt that the scheme is for an excellent purpose.

Benefits

Stated After 8 or 10 years of regular payments. The entire amount paid by the

parent will be reimbursed when the insured child is admitted to an approved post-

secondary educational institution. A scholarship (amount to be determined) will be

granted for the next 3 years. Any tertiary level course, live months on longer.

In an academic year, qualifies,

Comment since the entire amount paid to the Scheme is regulated in the first –

except for the interest which could have,

Been earned – loss is minimized.

The payment for 2-4 will be determined each year by the return on the

Scheme’s investments and the number of qualifying students.

Risks
Stated The insured must qualify or benefits are lost. Payments cannot be

transferred from one child to another. Comments Payment and benefits are lost if

the insured child dies or does not gain entry to a tertiary level programme. The

Scheme allows only one year’s absence from study; so, any child who returns to

study after an absence of two years or more, lose his eligibility. In very exceptional

cases, an extension to one additional year’s absence may be allowed after

considerations by a special committee. Such approval seems more General

Comments the Scheme appears to be a good one. It has solid references and I know

persons who have benefitted to be in the past. The ultimate wish is that your child

may not wish to attend University continuously and the Scheme does not

encourage study /work arrangements where these include absence from the

classroom for periods exceeding one years.1

1
Since education can be very expensive any plan which allows the spread of expense is worth considering
