Task 1: Company Needs Analysis Report

1. Introduction: Provide a one-page summary of the selected company. This should include essential
information such as the company name, size in terms of revenue and staffing, main markets, and examples of
products and services. Use a concise, factual writing style and include appropriate references.
2. Report Format:
• Write an individual report using a concise, formal business style ͘
• Use single spacing and font size 12͘
• Structure your report with headings, paragraphs, and subsections as appropriate.
• Support your analysis and recommendations with research and use the Harvard referencing
system.
• Include a bibliography listing the sources you used ͘
3. Word Limit: The recommended word limit for the report is 2,000-2,500 words. However, exceeding the
total word limit will not result in penalties if the content is relevant and well- presented.

Task 2: Business Process Support Tool Application


1. Dataset Selection:
• Choose a dataset that is relevant to a specific business context ͘

• Document your process of applying business process support concepts using the selected

ProActive Solutions is a consultancy firm headquartered in London, working with clients who make
use of open data sources from local/national government agencies for supporting business processes
and real-world business problems in terms of optimising decision-making and performance.
Local/national government agencies around the world are investing heavily to make public sector
data open access and information they hold available, ensuring that stakeholders can make use of
data how they see fit, and improve communication of data analysis through visualization. The
increased use of data and information is visible in a wide range of areas in the community, including
the economy, transport, environment, housing, safety, health, and education. The advantage of
public datastores is limitless, with large volumes of authentic information for extracting insight an
essential resource in the modern world.
Role
You are employed by ProActive Solutions as an intern and have worked on several projects over the
last three months connecting clients with local/national data stores. You have been asked by the Head
of Client Services to design a Company Needs Analysis Report , with an accompanying Business
Process Support Tool Application, to show future clients how they can use data and information to
support business processes for informing best practices. If successful, your line manager has agreed
to let you lead the next project and solution design.

Assignment activity and guidance


Context:
As a junior business process support consultant at "ProActive Solutions", you have been assigned two tasks to
demonstrate your understanding and practical application of the concepts covered in the Business Process Support
field. These tasks will assess your ability to analyse company needs and provide recommendations, as well as showcase
your skills in utilizing a business process support tool to analyse a dataset.
Task 1: Company Needs Analysis Report
Your task is to write a comprehensive report that addresses the needs of a company from the perspective of a junior
business process support consultant. The report should demonstrate your understanding of important concepts and
principles in the field.
Assessment Criteria:
1. Thoroughly analyse the importance and value of data and information in supporting business processes.
Consider their impact on decision-making, service delivery, efficiency, and other relevant aspects.
2. Evaluate the social, legal, and ethical implications of using data and information to support business
processes within the company.
3. Assess potential threats to data security and privacy, and propose mitigation strategies at both
personal and organizational levels.
Justify the benefits of utilizing data science techniques and tools to support business processes and inform effective
decision-making.

For this task, you need to select a dataset of your choosing or interest and demonstrate your ability to apply business process
support concepts using a suitable tool.

1. Select a relevant dataset and describe its significance within a specific business context.
2. Apply data manipulation techniques using the selected business process support tool to generate
meaningful insights and support business operations.
3. Utilize the tool to analyse the dataset effectively, employing relevant methodologies and techniques.
4. Draw conclusions and make justified recommendations based on the insights gained from the analysis,
highlighting the value it adds to the company's decision-making and operational processes.
