Situation:

Homelessness, also known as houselessness or being unhoused or unsheltered, is the

condition of lacking stable, safe, and functional housing, This issue can be analyzed using
various social science disciplines, each offering different perspectives on the causes, effects, and
solutions to the problem. Three disciplines that would provide valuable insights are sociology,
economics, and psychology.

Sociology Homelessness is not just about lacking a roof over one's head; it's
tied to larger social structures and systems that shape people's
lives. Sociologists would focus on how societal norms, inequality,
and policies, such as the lack of affordable housing or
discrimination contribute to pushing vulnerable groups into
homelessness. like for example, the people with disabilities or
low-income families may find themselves displaced due to rising
living costs or inadequate welfare support.
Psychological I think they would examine the mental health, of every
individual behavior, and coping mechanisms in relation to
homelessness. They would explore how factors like mental illness,
substance abuse, trauma, or early childhood experiences
contribute to an individual's vulnerability to homelessness. Also
psychologist might also look at the psychological effects of
homelessness itself, including stress, depression, and the loss of
social identity
Economics Homelessness is often driven by economic factors that affect
people’s ability to secure a stable home. the rising housing costs,
low wages, and job loss can leave individuals and families
struggling to make ends meet, especially when affordable housing
is in short supply. Many people don’t choose homelessness,it’s a
result of economic systems that fail to provide enough support.
ANSWER:

● This article talks about the real challenges Filipino students faced during the COVID-19
pandemic, especially due to the shortage of guidance counselors in schools. With schools
shifting to online learning and the disruption of daily routines, many students found
themselves struggling emotionally. The pandemic brought a surge of stress, anxiety, and
uncertainty, leaving students feeling overwhelmed and isolated, especially without the
support they’d normally receive from counselors. The lack of face-to-face interactions with
teachers and friends only deepened these feelings, making it harder for students to cope
with the mental toll of the situation. In short, the emotional struggles of students were
compounded by not having the proper guidance or support when they needed it the most.

● as you'll know guidance is an essential program in schools because it provides students

with the emotional, social, and academic support they need to navigate the challenges of
school life. also they helping the students to manage and to control emotional struggles,
such as anxiety, depression, and stress. They provide a safe space where students can
talk about their feelings.

● The DepEd has been promoting the importance of guidance counseling and encouraging
the hiring of more trained professionals, which is the mental health act (Republic Act No.
11036) that mandates that schools provide mental health services, which includes hiring
guidance counselors, though implementation has been slow due to limited resources.
