NOTES

1. The work will be carried out strictly in accordance with the PWD book of specification 1990 edition,
which will form a part and parcel of this contract agreement.
2. In this contract schedule of rate, only essential portion of item have been written but it will deem to
cover the entire item as described fully in the Haryana schedule of rates 2021 edition
3. The Engineer in Charge shall be be entitled to order work against any item of work shown in this
contract schedule of rates here in after called the schedule to any extent and without any limitation,
what so ever, required in his opinion for the purpose of work is respective of the facts that the
quantities are omitted altogether, thereof, if shown more or less than the work ordered to be carried
out.
4. The rate of any item of work not provided in the Haryana schedule of rates 2021 but executed at site
will be decided by the competent authority and the decision will be binding upon the contractor.
5. All the items in the contract schedule of rates are subject to the foot note & notes as given in the
Haryana schedule of rates 2021 regarding these items.
6. Approximate quantities have been given in the contract schedule of rates and these can vary at the
time of execution of work. The payment will however, be made for the actual work done by the
contractor. No extra claim, what so ever, will be admissible to the contractor on account of variations,
addition, deletion of any item over the quantites depicted in this contract schedule of rates.
7. All the amendment issued on Haryana schedule of rates 2021 upto the date of opening of tender will
be applicable to this contract schedule of rate.
8. Any other item not included in this contract schedule of rates and get done at site of work will be paid
according to the Haryana schedule of rates 2021 edition subject to the premium or discount tendered
by the contractor.
9. No claim will be entertained from the contractor in case any omission in description, rates & units
which might have occurred in any of thesse items taken in this schedule, while comprising this
schedule on account of typing or over writing. In case of any error, the same shall be rectifiable at any
stage as per Haryana schedule of rates 2021 along with the amendments on the same received from
time to time.
10. The premimium should be quoated above or below ceiling rates for schdule items and no condition
shall be given. In case any condition is tendered, this will be considered as null and void and only the
premium tendered will be accepted. In case any tenderer refuses to accept the above afterwards, his
earnest money will be forfeited.
11. The contractor shall submit the test certificate of the steel brought by him. Also the sample of steel
may be got tested by Engineer in Charge.The steel shall be ISI marked of Fe 500 of IISCO, RINL,
SAIL, TISCO.
12. No premium shall be payble on Non Schedule items.
13. Contractor shall be fully responsible for structural safety in all respect of structure existing/under
construction in the vicinity of structure under construction.
14. The rate included in the contract schedule is of the full rate coverage the cost of filling the water
retaining structure, testing for water tightness to the full satisfaction of the Engineer in charge and
enptying the same if desired.
15. Minimum 40 mm clear cover be provideed on the reinforcement on the inner side of the structure .
The contractor shall ensure structurally safe and water proof structure.

16. No extra lead lift will be payble for the executed earth of structure and its proper disposal will be
responsibility of the contractor at his own cost. The contractor will be at liberty to disposed off this
quantity in his own way and will quote his rates accordingly.
17. Each manhole cover and frame shall have the trade mark of manufactures month and year along with
class and work and shall be ISI mark.
18. All taxes such as royalty, municipal tax octroi charge forest tax, GST and any other kind of taxes shall
be paid by the contractor and are included in the rate quoted by the contractor, separately for which
no premium will be allowed.
19. Any damage to the existing services such as Water Supply / Sewerage Connection, Electric Cable,
Telephone cable shall be repaired / restored by the agency free of cost to the entire satisfaction of the
Engineer-in-Charge. No extra payment / claim on this accoutn is admissible under any
circumstances.
20. Where the agency quotes abnormally low rates, an equivalent amount of such item should be kept
revolved and would be released to the agency in commensurate of the progress of work done. In
case the agency fails to execute such works, this amount would be forfeited.
21. Where the agency qoutes abnormally high rates the quantity would be restricted as detailed in the
DNIT.
22. There will be no change in the approved quantities of varoius items taken in the DNIT until and unless
it has been approved by Head Office.
23. The contractor / agencies shall fill up the component – wise the heading ( b ) Non- schudle items. The
tender of the contractor / agency who dose not fill up the component wise rates , shall be out rightly
rejected as an irresponsive tender and earnest mony of the concerned contractor / agency shall be
forfeited for not observing the required procedure.

24. It shall be full responsibility of the contractor to ensure safty of his worker. Contractor shall be fully
responsible for any type of mishap or accident.
25. All safty measure shall be adopted by the contractor at his own cost.
26. Public safty shall also be the responsibility of the contractor . He shall provide proper caution board
and barricalls wherever required.
27. The contractor will dispose of the excavated surplus soil at his own cost tot a place as directed lead,
lift wet, earth, loading,unloading and carriage will not be paid to the contractor who will have no claim
on the same at any time later. Further the contractor will quote his rate taking into account the effect
of the surplus earth which will be disposed of by him at his own cost.
28. Soil Investigation : The contractor is requried to verify the under ground water table, bearing-
capacity and all other Geo physical conditions of the soil / earth before tendering. All the expenditure
occoured to above investigations shall be included in the rates quoted by the contractor. The
contractor is required to quote his rates considering the above factors and no subsequent payemnts
will be made on this account.

Lowering of water table if required during the execution of work will have to be done by the contractor
and no extra payemnts of dewatering, lowering of sub soil water etc. will be made

SCHEDULE – II GENERAL CONDITION OF CONTRACT

1. Definition
The term “work” means the complete scope of work covered in this DNIT as per the
specification mentioned here after which is being let out on contract. The term
Superintending Engineer means the Superintending Engineer, of concerned circle and
the terms “Engineer” means the Executive Engineer of concerned P.H.E. Division of the
Haryana P.H.E. Department under whose jurisdiction the work will be carried out from
time to time. The term “Contractor” means the person or firm, whose tender for the work
is accepted and the term ‘Contract’ means the contract covered by the contract
agreement to be entered into by the said contractor for carrying out and completion of
the said work with the Engineer.

2. Consideration for contract and extent of Works

a. The contract price payable to the contractor in respect of various items of work shall be
the consideration for all and every description of work done, executed and performed in
and about and incidental to the work described or mentioned in this schedule and in the
drawings or be intended so to be whether the same shall be incidental or necessary to
the ultimate completion or only for the temporary purposes of the said work or be
required for carrying out of such precautions as the Engineer may require for the
protection of the public, workmen and the work and also existing building etc., or as set
out in the conditions of the contract. It also includes other incidental item or work,
materials and things required to make the work satisfactory in all respects and complying
with the contractor’s guarantee as incorporated hereinafter.

b. Commissioning of work will be responsibility of the contractor.

c. The contractor shall be fully responsible for making good the imperfection of any item of
work executed under this agreement as per clause 17 of the contract agreement. The
contractor shall repair necessary items of work during maintenance period.

d. All the works executed under this work will be tested by the contractor at his own cost.
The water retaining structure shall be tested for water tightness and hydraulic efficiency.
The contractor shall be responsible for making good imperfection in water tightness and
hydraulic efficiency.

e. All the works after completion and maintenance period will be handed over to Engineer
in good working condition.

3. Terms & Condition of payment

a. Payment will be made as per actual work executed at site at the accepted rates. 5%
estimated cost as performance money will be deposited by agency before
commencement of work.

b. 7% security including earnest money will be deducted from each running bill of the
contractor in addition to performance money.

c. the deduction of security reffered to clause – I of contract agreement shall be released


as per clause 7(A) of the tender document.

4. Possession of the Site


The Engineer shall, as soon as practicable, after the acceptance of the tender or the
execution of the contract agreement as the case may be, give possession of the site to
the contractor for use of the site for the work covered by his contract so as to enable him
to commence and continue the execution of the work included in his contract, but the
non-delivery or use of such site or sites or any part thereof shall not effect the use of
such contract or the specification and it shall not entitle the contractor to any increased
allowance in respect of money or otherwise.

5. Extension of time limit

Time for the completion of the work may be extended in proportion to the delay involved
on the application by the contractor but this will not entitle him to any extra payment on
account of any reason what so ever it may be.

6. Reinstatement / Restoration

All land, property, fencing likely to be disturbed or damaged during the execution of the
contract work shall be made good by the contractor at his own expense to the
satisfaction of the authorities / owners concerned.

7. Contractor’s responsibility for verification of site conditions


a. The contractor shall be deemed to have verified as to the dimensions, levels, character
and nature of all the works, buildings, roads, land, safe bearing capacity, spring level
and other things with regard to any connection they may have with the works of the
contract, and shall be deemed to have obtained his own information on all matters which
could in any way influence his tender.

b. No claim for extra work or otherwise shall be allowed in consequence of any


misunderstanding, error or incorrect information on any point or if any inaccuracies in
reference thereto which may appear in the specification, nor shall the contract be
nullified in consequence of any such misunderstanding, error, incorrect information or
inaccuracies.

8. Local Taxes

a. All toll, octroi, terminal taxes, sale tax, GST, excise duty, import duty or any other
Municipal taxes shall be paid by the contractor on all tools & plants and materials
imported or taken delivery by him including all goods and material delivered to him free
on rail and those transported by him into the Town/Village from outside and he shall not
be entitled to reimbursement for any payments made on account of such octroi, or
terminal tax charges. This also applies to materials issued from stores of the Engineer.

b. If any fresh tax of any kind is levied at any stage or any existing tax is subsequently
enhanced after the date of the contractor’s tender, the same shall be paid by the
contractor and no extra allowances shall be given to him by reason of such fresh or
enhanced taxes, octroi, terminal tax or other having been levied.

9. Import license and Foreign Exchange:

i. Import license and foreign exchange, if required, will have to be arranged by the
successful tenderer himself and this is solely his responsibility.

10. Services and Notices on the contractor:-

a. Any notice, order, required or instruction which the Engineer may wish or require to give
in relation to works, shall be deemed to be duly served on the contractor, if recorded in
the order book kept on the work, or if it is delivered personally to the contractor or any of
his agent or sent by post to his office, and notice of such office and any change of
contractor’s address shall be intimated by the contractor to the Engineer in writing and
got recorded in the agreement.
11. Work executed outside working hours:-

a. If the contractor executes any work outside ordinary working hours during the absence
of the Engineer-in-charge or his authorized representative and without having previously
given him sufficient notice in writing that such work was about to be executed he will be
required to dismantle and reconstruct any work so executed, if ordered to do so by the
Engineer in writing under his hand, no payment shall be payable for the work
dismantled.

12. Engineer, his Assistants or third party nominated by Engineer to have access to
work and store:-

a. The Engineer with his Assistant Engineer, Junior Engineer, Inspection Work Mistries,
Munshies, Inspectors and all other persons authorised by him shall at all times have full
access to the works and the contractor’s workshop and factories, stores, brick fields,
godowns and all other places where materials are procured, collected or stored for the
works and shall have full power to send workman upon the work to execute any other
works not included in the contract and for those operations the contractor shall afford
every reasonable facility during the working hours, provided that such operation shall
be carried on in such manner as not to impede the progress of the work included in the
contract, but the department shall not be held responsible for any damage which may
happen to be occasioned by any such other works.
b. The Engineer will opt for 3rd party inspection other than Department. In addition to
Inspection by Departmental staff. The 3rd party would inspect the work during its
execution to ensure execution of work as per specifications/ agreement and also
quality control i.e. drawl of samples, testing & other items etc. The report of the same

would be submitted to Engineer by the 3rd party inspection and shall take remedial
measures for execution of work as per specifications in agreement. The inspection
and sample testing charge will be borne by the Department.
13. Interference with or damage to other works: -

a. The contractor shall not cause any interference with the work of any other contractor
engaged for the construction at site of work and shall take all due precautions to prevent
his work people from causing the damage to the work of other contractor while in course
of execution of the work covered in the scope of work or otherwise.

14. Location: -
The location of the site of the work can be changed subsequently and no extra payment
will be admissible to the contractor

15. Inspection of material:-

Before supply of materials like machinery, inspection will be carried out by the Engineer
or the authorized representative at the factory premises. A proper inspection note will be
issued. Any material can be ordered to be inspected by Engineer at the premises of its
production.

16. Storage of material:-

All materials, supplies, machineries, or equipments which may be exposed to the


wheather shall be suitabily protected to the satisfaction of engineer.

17. General:
a. The contractor shall be responsible for arranging and executing the work of centring,
scaffolding, staffing, planting, timbering, strengthening, shoring, pumping, fencing,
watching at night as well as in day. The contractor shall him self provide its sheds or
godowns for storage of material and for labour etc.

b. The contractor shall give all necessary personal superintendence during the execution of
the work and as long thereafter the Engineer may consider necessary.

18. Wherever a reference to any Indian standard appearing in this schedule, it shall be taken
to mean the latest version of the standard till date of the receipt of tenders with latest
amendment.

19. The offer will be valid for 90 days from the date of opening of the financial offer/price bid.

20. The Tenderer whose tender will be accepted, will have to execute an agreement within
15 days from the date of letter informing him about the acceptance of the tender, his
earnest money deposit will be treated as initial security deposit.

21. The decision of the Superintending Engineer of concerned Public Health Engineering
Circle, about any matter of dispute about the contract will be final and binding on
Tenderer as well as Executive Engineer Public Health Engineering Division no.1 Rewari
22. The contractor (Tenderer) shall follow all the law and rules pertaining to Municipal
Committees / Council and Local Authorities. The Public Health Department will not be
responsible for them.

23. Recoveries will be made from the running / final bills as under: -
a. 10% of the bill as a Security deposit in addition to Security already deposited with
the allotment of work.
b. Penalty in full, if levied.
c. Income Tax, Labour tax and all other taxes which are applicable.
d. Expenditure in full, if any, incurred by the Public Health Department / Municipal
Corporation, on contractor’s behalf, in labour and material of any other type.
e. Charges in full for the service extended by the concerned Municipal Corporation /
Public Health Department to the contractor, such as residence with water
sanitation and power supply arrangement, if provided.
f. Prevailing market ratio hire charges in full for any land or building or machinery of
the Public Health Deptt. given to the contractor for use during the execution of
the work.
g. Any other charges, if levied by the department.

24. Any labour dispute, if arises during any time of the continuation of contract shall be
contractor’s liability. Contractor will have to follow / observe the decisions given by
various courts including labour court and consumer forum or any other court in this
connection. The contractor shall keep the Engineer informed against any judgment
award of degree passed in pursuance to any such dispute or claim made by any of the
contractor’s workmen or staff.

25. In case of emergency the contractor shall have to provide the services of his employees
to Engineer.
26. The Public Health Department is at liberty to continue the contract or break up the
contract entered upon at any time of contract validity with notice of reasonable period for
which, contractor shall not make any claim / compensation against the department.
27. Any kind of theft / damages occurred during course of contract period will be borne by
the contractor.
SCHEDULE – III SPECIFICATIONS & TECHNICAL CONDITIONS

The work will be carried out strictly in accordance with the PWD book of specification 1990
edition which will form a part and parcel of this contract agreement and as per National
Building Code, Govt. laws / rules such as Indian Electricity Act – 1948, Factory Act – 1948,
contractor labor (Regulation & Abolition) Act – 1972, Workmen Compensation Act, Provident
Fund Act, any other relevant act and the rules framed under the said acts by the competent
authority with all up to date amendments
In cases where the PWD Haryana specification and the specifications given below are silent
about any aspects in respect of any item, the work shall be carried out as per the relevant IS
code of practice in the latest version and as per sound engineering practice as decided by the
Engineer in charge.
The excavation items will include all lifts, lateral leads with in limit so works, labour,
dewatering, lowering of subsoil water table, shorting wherever necessary, backfilling around
completed structures and disposal of surplus soil as directed

1. Water
a. All water to be used on the work shall be clear fresh water to be obtained from a source to be
approved by the Engineer-in-charge, it shall be entirely free from brackish salts, alkaline, acid
mineral impurities and confirm to clause 4.3 of IS-456-2000 and shall be stored and carried in
clear tank and vessels.
b. contractor shall provide at his own expenses at all time arrangement for supply of water for all
purpose to the full satisfaction of the Engineer-in-charge and shall pay all charges of Govt. in
case of the supply of water by Govt.
2. Cement Concrete.
b. All mixes shall be as per IS 456-2000 and IS 3370-1965 (Part I to IV) as amended from time
to time. In the reinforced cement concrete for water retaining structures the grade of cement
concrete shall be as per specifications.
c. The concrete shall confirm to IS 456-2000 ordinary grade and described in 5.33 and shall be
subject to such test as specified in the above standard.
d. All concrete used in RCC work shall be poured by mixing in a Mechanical mixer shall be
compacted with mechanical operated vibrators to be arranged by the contractor at his own
cost and charges.
e. The Engineer-in-charge may require reasonable number of test to be made on the concrete
during the progress of work. Not less than 3 standard specimens shall be made for each test.
The specimen shall be cured under field conditions. The cost of testing shall be borne by the
contractor.
f. If the specimen fails to comply with the requirement set out in IS 456-2000 above, Engineer-
in-charge will have right to order the demolition of such work as he may think to have been
carried out in weak concrete at the cost of contractor and no payment shall be made for the
faulty construction. The method of making work cube test shall be accordingly to as given in

IS 456, 4.1 read with IS 516-1959. The Engineer-in-charge shall have the right to order the
test of any material used in RCC work to determine their suitability for the purpose. The cost
of all such test shall be borne by the contractor. All the faulty materials so found / determined
shall be removed from the site of work by the contractor at his own cost within period specified
by the Engineer-in-charge.
2.1 Placing

a. The concrete shall be deposited as nearly as practicable in its final position to avoid re-
handling, the concrete shall be placed and compacted before initial setting of concrete
commences and should not be subsequently disturbed. Method of placing should be such as
preculade segregation care should be taken to avoid displacement of reinforcement or
movement of formwork. The maximum permissible free fall of concrete be taken as 1.5 m.

b. All reinforcement shall be placed and maintained in the position shown in the drawings by
providing proper cover blocks spacers, supporting bars etc. Concrete spacers, chairs and
other supports detailed on drawing s, together with such other supports as may be
necessary, should be used to maintain the specified nominal cover to the steel
reinforcement, spaces on chairs should placed at a minimum spacing of 1 mtr and closure
spacing may sometimes be necessary. Spacers cover blocks should be of concrete of same
strength.
2.2 Mode of Construction.
a. The RCC shall be cast monolithic with supporting beams. Steel shuttering and forms must be
substantial and unyielding built to correct dimensions and water tight to the entire satisfaction
of the Engineer-in-charge so as to preserve the concrete from damage or distortion during
setting and till removal of Shuttering of all visible faces must be of steel or plywood.
b. All reinforcement shall be as per detailed drawing and calculation duly approved by the
Superintending Engineer. The contractor shall be responsible for the accurate fixing of the
reinforcement and shall not place any concrete until the reinforcement has been inspected in
position and approved by the Engineer-in-charge. The contractor shall take all precaution to
prevent the displacement of reinforcement during concreting.
3 Cement

a. The cement shall be Ordinary Portland-43 grade, duly ISI marked & confirming to ISI-8112
with latest amendments packed in conventional or HDPE bags of 50 Kg each bag. The
cement manufactured by Mini Cement Plant shall not be used.
b. The cement arranged by the Contractor/Agency will be brought at site and shall be kept in
the Store maintained at site, provided with dual locking system i.e. one key of lock with
representative of the Deptt. and 2nd key of lock with authorized representative of agency.

c. The contractor/Agency will inform the Executive Engineer/ Sub Divisional Engineer for the
quantity of the cement brought at site with bill / challan in the name of the agency before

using the same and Engineer-in-charge or his authorized representative may check the
actual receipt of cement at site.

d. The Engineer-in-charge or his authorized representative may, if need be, also send the
cement for testing to any Govt. Lab./reputed Lab. The samples of the cement will be
collected as per BIS specifications in the presence of the Contractor/Agency or his
authorized representatives. In case the cement is found as per ISI specifications then the
cost of testing will be borne by the Deptt., but in case the cement sample fails to meet the
BIS requirements, then appropriate action as per Contract Agreement will be taken. The
cost on the testing cement alongwith any loss caused to Govt. shall also be recovered from
the Contractor/Agency and no claim in this respect will be entertained.

e. The cement consumption register showing date of cement brought at site by the
Contractor/Agency and its day-to-day utilization will be maintained. The said register shall
be open to inspection for representative of the Engineer-in-Charge during their visit at site.
The consumption and receipt of cement in the register shall be initialed jointly by the
authorized representative of the Contractor / Agency and representative of Engineer-in-
Charge. The said register will be issued by office of concerned Sub Divisional Engineer
under his dated signature for each agreement separately. The register will also contain the
columns for work executed against the cement issued.

4 Steel
All steel to be used in work / reinforcement shall be in accordance with IS 456-2000 with latest
amendment and IS 3370 (Part-1I & II) 1965 with latest amendments and tore steel as per IS
1788-1966 with latest amendments. All steel used in reinforcement / work shall be tested and
reprt submitted for examination / approval of Engineer-in-charge.

5 Test for Water Tightness of the Structure.

The R.C.C. Structures shall be absolutely watertight. No sweating shall take place after period
of 20 days of the tank being filled upto the full supply level and kept so full during the above
period. The maximum fall in the water level including that occasioned evaporation shall not be
more than 6mm after 48 hours during the winter & 12 mm during the summer. All works
required to fulfill the test shall be carried out by the contractor at his own risk & cost. No back
filling of earth shall be allowed till testing of Tank is done.

6 Expansion Joints and Construction Joints

(i) General
Movement joints such as expansion joints complete contraction joints, partial contraction
joints & sliding joints shall be designed & provided to suit the structure. Expansion joints at

suitable intervals not more than 40 M shall be provided in walls, floors & roof slabs of water
retaining structures.
(ii) Joints in Floor

In case of PVC water stops to be provided horizontal position flat floated PVC water stops
shall be used. The water stops shall be provided in such a way that half the portion of water
stop (width wise) is embedded in the concrete and half remains exposed for next concrete.
Steel reinforcement shall not be discontinued where construction joints in floor are provided.

(iii) Joints in Walls


(a) Movement Joints
Movement joints shall be provided in the walls at positions shown on drawings. Water stops
shall be kept in position with the help of bitumen impregnated fiberboard fillers. Concrete shall
be laid in such a way that half the portion of water stop remains exposed for next concreting.
Steel reinforcement shall be discontinued at the joints as shown on drawings.

(iv) Construction Joints


Construction joints shall be provided between two lifts of concrete as shown on
drawings. A groove shall be formed around exposed portion the PVC water stop
for proper jointing. Care shall be taken during concreting to keep the water stop in
vertical position.
In no case shall the water stop be punctured on hailed with the binding wire to keep it in
position. Wherever required to be jointed the water stop shall be welded in T, X or L Pattern
as per the Instructions of Engineer –in- Charge.

7 Water stops
The material for PVC water stops shall be plastic compound with the basic resin of PVC &
additional resins, plasticizers, inhibitors, which satisfy the performance, characteristics
specified below as per IS: 15058 & tested in accordance with IS: 813.753. PVC water stops
shall be either bar type, serrated with central bulb & end grips for use with in concrete element
or of the surface type for external use.
PVC water stops shall be of approved manufacturer & shall be got approved by an in charge
before procurement & incorporation in the work.
Pre formed fillers & joint sealing compounds:
Pre formed filler or expansion / isolated joints shall be non-excluding & resilient type of
bitumen impregnated fibber confirming to IS: 1838 part I & II. Bitumen coat to concrete/
masonry surface for fixing the pre formed bitumen filler strip shall confirm to IS: 702 &bitumen
primer shall confirm to IS: 3384. Sealing compound for filling the joints above the pre formed
filler shall confirm to grade A as per IS: 1834.

8 Pumping Machinery
All mechanical equipment and the materials used shall comply with the relevant Indian Standards
and Manual published by CPHEEO unless a more rigorous requirement is specifically stipulated
and as per PWD Specifications.

9 Manuals
The contractor shall obtain from the manufacture and hand over to the Engineer-in-Charge 3 sets
of instruction and maintenance manuals for the equipment furnished under these specification to
provide adequate information for proper installation, operation and maintenance of the equipment.
The Engineer-in-Charge shall approve the manuals for the adequacy of the contents and the
format and return one (1) set to the contractor for his use in the Start-up of the equipment. If any
errors or inadequacies discovered are of a minor nature, errata sheets or addenda shall be
supplied by the contractor in consultation with the Engineer-in-Charge.

10 Materials and Workmanship.


All equipment furnished under this or allied sections shall be new and guaranteed free from
defects in materials, design and workmanship if inadequate information is provided in the
specifications, it shall be the contractor’s responsibility to ascertain the conditions and service
under which the equipment is required to operate and to warrant accordingly that operation under
such conditions shall be successful. All parts of the equipment shall be adequately proportioned
to safety withstand all stresses that may occur or be induced in them during fabrication, erection
and intermittent or continuous operation. All equipment shall be designed fabricated and
assembled in accordance with the best current engineering and workshop practice. Individual
parts shall be manufactured to standard sizes and gauges so that spares furnished at any time,
can be installed in the field. Corresponding parts of duplicate units shall be full interchangeable.
Equipment shall not have been in service at any time prior to delivery except as required for test.
All materials tested shall be appropriate for the service conditions, iron shall be tough, close-
grained gray iron free form blow holes, flaws or excessive shrinkage and shall comply with the
requirements of IS-210, except where otherwise specified structural and miscellaneous fabricated
steel used in items of equipment shall conform to the relevant Indian standards. All structural
members shall be considered as subject to shock or vibratory loans. Unless otherwise specified
all steels, which will be submerged, in part or fully, during normal operation of equipment shall
have a minimum nominal thickness of 6.0 mm. The location of the fabricator and his shop
schedule shall be furnished to the Engineer-in-charge for commencement of fabrication to enable
him to schedule inspections if he so decides.

11 Equipment Bases and Bed Plates.


A heavy cast iron or welded steel base shall be provided for each item of equipment, which is to
be installed on a concrete foundation. Equipment assemblies, unless otherwise specified or
shown on the drawings, shall be mounted on a single, heavy cast iron or welded steel bedplate.
Bases or bedplates shall be provided with machined support pads, tapered dowels for alignment

or making adjustments adequate openings to facilitate grouting and openings for electrical
conducts. All seams and contract edges between steel plates and shapes shall be continuously
welded and ground smooth. The plates shall have a minimum thickness of 6.0 mm.

12 Pipe & specials Fittings


Pipe fittings of size 80 NB and below shall be forged conforming to IS-I239Part-I. Fittings above
80 NB & above shall be DI as per relevant specifications in IS/ BS conforming.

The puddle collars embedded in the wall shall be of DI confirming to IS 9523-200. If flanged cast
iron pipes and specials are used in the pump houses and to the limit of pump station delivery
pipelines they shall be manufactured and tested according to IS 7181 & Flanges shall conform to
IS 1538.

The specials shall be all flanged conforming to IS 9523-2000. The velocity in the suction &
delivery pipe shall not exceed 2.00 m/sec and 2.5 meters/sec. respectively. The suction and
delivery pipe shall be so designed that any of the pumps can be operated at one time and delivery
pipes of each pump will be as per manufacture standard.

Pipes shall be horizontally DI double flanged pipes conforming to IS-9523-2000 as amended upto
date and bearing ISI certification marks in maximum length upto 2.75 meter each or shorter
lengths/pieces as per site requirements.

13 Dismantling pieces
All valves to be installed in straight lines shall be installed between flanges with a flexible
dismantling piece as per IS 9523-2000 at one side of the valve, which shall ensure pipeline
rigidity. The piece must allow the dismantling of the valve without stress to the joints of the
attached pipes. The minimum clearance of the dismantling pieces shall be 5 cm. The pressure
class of
the dismantling piece shall be the same as that of the valve. Drawings of the dismantling pieces
have to be submitted to the Engineer in Charge for approval.
14 Flanges
All flanges of pipes, specials and accessories will be according to IS 9523-2000. The contractor
has to ensure that flanges of flanged equipment of different type and of different suppliers have
the same matching dimensions, number, position and diameter of holes, according to the
nominal diameter and the pressure class. No new or additional holes shall be drilled on site.

15 Pumps
Horizontal spindle split casing type centrifugal pump sets completed with suitable squirrel cage
induction motor of specified makes as per schedule No. III, directly coupled, conforming in all
respect to IS 1520-1972 and motor conforming in all respect to IS 325-1978, as amended upto
date. The pump set shall be capable of pumping Raw / clear, cold fresh water having

characteristics as specified in clause 3.1 of IS 1520-1972. Each pump motor set shall be suitable
for continuous rating and shall be supplied with suitable coupling, priming, funnel, test, cock, base
plate, foundation bolts and nuts and with accessories. The make shall be as per mentioned in
vendors list.
A) Specifications:
Horizontal spindle split casing type centrifugal pumps of specified approved make as per schedule
No. III and conforming in all respect to IS 1520-1972 as amended upto date.

B) Material & Construction:


As per clause 5.1(Table.1) of IS 1520-1972 as amended upto date. The Pump is to be bronze
fitted as per IS-318.

C) Impellers:
Double suction enclosed type hydraulically and statically balances and made of stainless steel.

D) Nominal speed:
1440 RPM.

E) Pump Assembly:
Individual casing parts of pump as a whole in assembled condition to be hydrostatically tested at
1.5 times the shut off head pressure or two time the duty point pressure whichever is higher.

F) Efficiency:
The duty point should be towards left side of best efficiency point (B.E.P.) but within the best
efficiency zone. The efficiency should not be less than 75%.

G) Guarantee and performance:

As per clause 12 of IS 1520-1972 and no extra credit shall be given for higher efficiency. Further
pump efficiency shall be guaranteed to deliver required discharge for a range of head
between (+) 10% from the specified head. Shut off head of the pump should also be
mentioned and maintained.

H) Information to be provided by the manufacturer:

The performance data as per clause 19.2.4, performance curves and original test, certified and
signed by the manufacturer and tenderer for performance of pump shall be provided
otherwise offer will be rejected.

I) Accessories:
Each pump shall be supplied with following accessories as per clause 7.1 of IS 1520-1972.
a) Ball type air relief valve.(Manufacturer’s provision)
b) Tyre type coupling.

c) Pressure and vacuum gauge with siphon cock as per IS 3624.
d) Pressure relief valve.
e) Base plate.
f) Foundation bolts and nuts.
J) Erection of pumping machinery:
a. For the installation of transformers, pump sets, electrical equipment, accessories,
cable pipe and specials, the tenderer shall include in his tender the cost of dismantling
masonry concrete and making good the same, excavation and dewatering of trenches to
lower sub soil water level.

b. The tenderer should submit technical literature with the offer and all documents shall
be in original or attested by a Gazzetted Officer.

c. It will be the responsibility of the contractual agency for getting the electrical
installations approved from Chief Electrical Inspector, Haryana, at his own cost, wherever
applicable.

K) Safeguarding & Protection

I. All machinery, equipment, pipes, specials accessories, name plates, gauges etc. supplied by the
contractors shall be safeguarded by him, completely erected, tested and commissioned. All
openings shall be protected to prevent entry of foreign matter, by blinds/plugs. In case of loss
or damage to any machinery or to any part thereof, the contractor shall bear the responsibility
and loss.

II. The machinery shall be protected by the contractor against weather conditions and other
chances of deterioration. If required by the Engineer-in-Charge, these shall be covered with
tarpaulins and with tin or G.I. Sheets.

III. The components, parts etc shall be thoroughly cleaned before assembly and assembled as per
drawing and instructions contained in the supplier’s booklets and literature for installation or
as per instructions by the Engineer-in-Charge. The contractor shall be responsible for
installation of machinery as per drawings or directions of Engineer-in-charge in case
drawings are not available. In case of any variation in levels, etc. the contractor shall do the
necessary rectification at his own cost.

IV. After completion of pre-erection works to the satisfaction of the Engineer-in-Charge, the
contractor shall commence the erection of machinery or foundations.

V. The contractor shall follow the manufacturer’s recommendations and instruction to ensure proper
erection of machinery and its operation.

VI. The contractor shall provide all tools and gauges for erection and alignment. The contractor for
the purposes of erection shall employ, at his own cost, suitable lifting shackles, cranes and

skilled men, to the satisfaction of the Engineer-in-Charge. The contractor shall himself
provide huts, sheds or godown for storage of his materials and labour etc.

VII. The contractors shall be responsible for arranging and executing the work of centering
scaffolding, staffing, planting, timbering, strengthening, shoring, pumping fencing, watching
and lighting at night as well as in day.

VIII. Final alignment, as specified by the manufacturer, shall be carried out after piping connections
are made. Tolerances specified by the manufacturer shall be added to ensure that no
stresses are induced on the pumps by piping.

IX. The drilling of holes in the base plate for fixing motors, fixing of couplings on shafts etc. and
dowelling including provision of dowel pins or similar arrangement for retaining the alignment
shall be carried out by the contractor as part of the erection work.

X. The contractor shall fix up pressure gauge, lubricants grease cup and all other accessories as
part of the unit.

XI. Grouting Under Base Plates And Machine Foundation:

The grouting material shall solidly fill the spaces to be grouted and permanently retain its original
volumes so that the base plate will be held firmly in the set position. The amount of water
used in mixing shall be kept in minimum.

XII. Preparation of Surface

The top of foundation shall be cleaned and free of all loose particles, oil or grease and shall wetted
thoroughly leaving no puddles prior to grouting. All tapped pockets shall be properly vented
to allow penetration of grout. The grout shall cover all shims, which are to be retained.

XIII. Placement

All anchor bolt holes shall be completely filled with grout. The finished surface shall be smooth and
shall slope away from base plate (approximately at slopes of 1 in 25). After initial set is over
the grout shall be kept thoroughly wetted for a minimum of 5 days. Care is also to be taken
during grouting to see that the base plate level and alignment is not disturbed.

XIV. Bolts & Nuts etc.

Holding down bolts of sufficient length shall be provided and fixed for setting the machinery to the
foundation. All the necessary supporting joists and girders, bolts, nuts, washers and plates
shall also be provided together with jointing material for making the various joints and cost
shall be included in tender

16 Electric Motor:

The pump shall be directly coupled to A.C. three phase 415 volts 50 cycles squirrel cage induction
motor on common fabricated M.S. base plate. The motor shall be capable of operation on 415 (+)

10% (-) 10% voltage having synchronous speed of not more than 1500 RPM (full load slip not to
exceed 4%). The motor shall be totally enclosed fan cooled and of continuous rating type. The
motor shall confirm to IS 325-1978. The motor shall have class, F, insulation according to IS
12741-1974. The H.P. of electric motor shall have a safe margin of 10% at the maximum
requirement of BHP pump rating absorbed and (+) 10% of head. Rise in temperature while motor
is in continuous use at rated out put should not exceed as per Class-F, insulation (clause 12.1 of
IS 325-1978).

I. Dimensions and output:

The dimensions and outputs of motor shall comply with IS 1231-1974.

II. Winding and Insulation:

The stator winding consists of synthetic enamel covered copper wire with slot insulation complying
with the requirements of IS 1271-1974.

III. Balance:

All rotors are dynamically balanced to comply with the requirements of IS 4729-1968.

IV. Performance Data:

The contractor shall provide the following details in a tabular form in respect of each set along
with the tender.
